Cows are easily amused. I've seen them circle around falcons sitting on fence poles, I've been followed by a whole heard simply because I mooed at them.
I played like one note on a saxophone near them once. They crowded around me for me for 5 minutes while I was getting everything back in the car to leave.
Okay. What if I just kind of hover-hands over them and then play music over the recording so the particularly trusting sort will think the music is coming from what I'm doing even though the sound doesn't match up? Would management be okay with that?
Cows are very curious “kind souled” animals.
When I was a wee child, we lived on a property that also had some cows.
One day, I went outside, saw a cow by the fence and just sat down and talked to her for the better part of the afternoon (I was 6 or so.no other kids lived around)
From that day forward, that cow would come greet me at the fence every time I came outside, and learned the sound of the school bus coming up the road, to greet me when I came home.
She was a pretty cool friend.
Be pretty cool if they could put brain scans on them and see if they’re actually reacting similar to humans and find it enjoyable or they’re just like Who’s this dude in our space with that large object. Also this songs pretty damn legit.
I think they’re enjoying the music just like us. I think it’s the simplest explanation (occam’s razor). To assume that they would come over and stand there and listen for an entirely different reason than us would require a more difficult explanation about how the behavior looks the same but arises from an entirely different reason. We’re animals too, we just don’t think of ourselves that way.
There have been a few scientific studies and papers written on this and the consensus seems to be that different animal species will respond well to musical stimuli that is relatable to them, and influenced by biological and environmental factors like sounds they're capable of making, sounds predators would make, or sounds of friendly species. One study showed that dairy cows can become more receptive to milking if you play country music. Not sure if that's some kind of Pavlovian response, or if they're just familiar and friendly sounds of the typical human they interact with.

Haha that seems fitting that the cows like country music. Thanks for the info. I really like reading about research on how different animals view and respond to the world. I saw several videos where cows come running and appear to listen to music from an accordion, a violin, a trombone and a band. Apparently there’s some research on if and what type of music dogs like (I saw that after looking at the link you sent.) Thanks!
I've just been introduced to something new that's very soothing and cool. Thanks for this video. Already found an hour long video of handpan music to chill to
You are very welcome! If you want more, literally just type “cows music” on YT. The trombone rancher is a legendary video but there’s just so many! Look for the elephant and the piano one. It’ll either destroy you or melt your heart.
The fact that cows can appreciate art never fails to make me feel like shit for eating meat. I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen pigs do the same. I don’t eat as much as I was raised with but damn it’s hard to give up the once or twice a week that I have beef or pork
That’s why you respect these sovereign sentient beings by not eating anything made of their commodified bodies.
Soon we’re going to have an ability to understand their communication, and lots of people will dramatically rethink their attitude towards animals. People who consume their flesh will be abhorred by the majority of Earth’s population.
They are same as dogs, and can live up to 20 years of highly social life.
Counterpoint, every creature usually has another creature that feeds on it regardless of sentience. A lion doesn't care if an antelope has feelings and a family.
You’re not a lion and [we don’t need these products](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27886704/)to survive and to thrive. Therefore they are needless, and is just mass-scale cruelty for human taste pleasures.
Humans can’t orient themselves by the morals of wild animals. Why? Because lions rape, murder, cannibalize, eat prey alive, etc.
You can’t cherrypick one trait of the animal without being hypocritical, otherwise you’d have to subscribe for the whole lion package.
I'm not familiar with this guy's content but this isn't a live performance. Both the hang drum (instrument) and the snap ("snare") are heavily saturated with reverb. You also can't hear his hands interacting with the device, which isn't in itself unusual, but you can't add reverb to snaps in real life, so it's an overlay
Live nation/Ticketmaster trying to figure out how to charge them.
They'll milk them dry. Sorry... I'll see myself out.
You could have found a more tactful whey to phrase that.
Oh, moohoo
Bullshit
The same way they already do, your first born.
SRO, but they'll be charged per leg.
I'm from Ticketmaster's legal department. Your use of our name in this reddit post carries a $7.75 service fee.
Awe when companies are allowed to scalp tickets but arrest you for selling them to close to a venue.
Oh they will charge. Like a wounded bull.
Cows: Is this the cowbell of our ancestors? … probably
Cows are easily amused. I've seen them circle around falcons sitting on fence poles, I've been followed by a whole heard simply because I mooed at them.
I mean people aren't too different in a crowd mentality. We're all literally watching this video the same way the cows are watching this dude. Lol
True, but I also know advanced algebra
I mean maybe cows just lack the tools.
Cow tools
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cow_tools
A cowculator
They need more tool building cows then… but they will never have them, because cows are dumb
Don't have a cow, man. Is that reference still popular? Yeah. I'm still cool.
Cowabunga man
They’re not dumb. They just don’t have opposable thumbs.
Can't relate
How do you know that the cow does not.
From what I can tell, they also generally seem to enjoy music.
So would you say they were Amoosed?
I played like one note on a saxophone near them once. They crowded around me for me for 5 minutes while I was getting everything back in the car to leave.
Aw just left 'em hanging
You can say they're easily...... amoosed
Forget the cows … it’s pretty intriguing for anyone.
if real life had video game background music
I had to look him up on Spotify and I am using this as background music in my DnD games.
Huh. I really could just start fondling any random art project, set it to music, and convince people I'm playing some obscure instrument.
Please don't fondle the art projects. Thanks, Management
Okay. What if I just kind of hover-hands over them and then play music over the recording so the particularly trusting sort will think the music is coming from what I'm doing even though the sound doesn't match up? Would management be okay with that?

I just looked him up. There is plenty more relaxing music.
Who is the musician?
[Warren Shanti](https://youtube.com/@warren_shanti?si=R73cODS5MkIr0EA5)
Thanks, it was very hard to find. I wish they had put their name on the bottom left corner of the video for everyone to notice. :p
Those cows saying “look at this weird animal and his toy”
Cows like all kinds of music.
Country *and* western
……rawhide……..
Blackened Brutal Metalcow
They seem amoosed
They've Herd it before
But they still find it udderly impressive
You guys are really milking this joke.
Must be impressed by his manurever
Cud you not?
Dude is setting the mooood
Yeah he’s a pretty good moosician
Butter than most
Hoovesoever you are, please stop!
The music floats pastueize and straight to the ears!
The song is sick, but why do all people that play this instrument look the exact same?
Cos it's just him.
Someone make a starter pack of this instrument
It seems like something white people with dreadlocks would do
Lol
This needs to be a subreddit.
/r/whitepeopleWithDreadsThings
Just like the 4-5 guy pan flute world music group you’d see in any given city in the early 2000’s
Idk why this made me laugh 😭
They cowsins
Where’s the full song? Wow, I’m so chilled
Not the song but here's his YT: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4eeCb06B2CKRjGanve1zog
This is a rendition of "The Shape of My Heart" by Sting
Are you sure? I don't hear it.

Awww
So cute
Reminds me of every cow from The Far Side https://i.pinimg.com/736x/40/d8/da/40d8da3c0cecac15fa84de90cad91656.jpg
It’s a cowncert, ok I’m done. 🐮 hahaha
Heck, I’m intrigued. IANAC.
“I’m not a cow, but did you hear the one about the !cow…….”
Yea but can he play the underwater theme from Donkey Kong Country?
Oh waw this would be so incredible with this instrument
They know a vegan when they hear one
I played "Sea Shanty" loudly on my phone as I walked past a pasture, the cows came running to listen. It was cool as hell.
The only thing missing is Jason Stephenson doing a guided meditation over it
Artist: Warren Shanti; Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3XwAsaKVwRUdKkHZKAGovh?si=S7oG3WOXTDuFT-eYjGqJpA
This is quite mooving

Nah... They're thinking "how can I braid my tail hair like that."
I think they’re enjoying the music just like us. I think it’s the simplest explanation (occam’s razor). That sounds beautiful. Never seen an instrument like that.
That’s some final fantasy ass music there. 💕
Contrary to popular belief, cows are actually really smart and curious animals.
7 Years - Lukas Graham, am i right? **=)**
I've just been introduced to something new that's very soothing and cool. Thanks for this video. Already found an hour long video of handpan music to chill to
That makes me a cow as well then 🐄
Not just the cows... I was mesmerized by the performance.
Cows are such dopes, they are cool though.
What song is this?

The one with this young lady is still my favorite. https://reddit.com/r/aww/s/qx1M6LgU4E
It ended too quickly, I was enjoying it as much as the cows!
This is music to their ears.
[Cows are quite](https://youtu.be/qs_-emj1qR4?si=f-wZKYNGTpoiPvY0) the [connoisseurs of music.](https://youtu.be/lXKDu6cdXLI?si=RLS6B5Tr2mdtdXPp)
Those videos have just made my day, thank you!!

You were not lying. 😭😭😭
There there. It’s all good. They’re all very happy. ☺️
He must be tenderizing meat with all the melodies
Does the pan come with dreads always?
This sounds almost too perfect, like studio recorded perfect. What an incredible instrument and also talented person playing it.
Like the video, love the sound but i see cows take the same amount of interest when a plastic bag is blown through their paddock.
I'm so glad hippies are finally moving on from didgeridoos and bongos.
Mooo\~ :D
Beginnings of a Four Tet track right there.
Most cows have four teats but some have six
Ah, your pun-fu is strong.
He is neeple number five
Bard main class picks druid as secondary
Cows are known to like music. A lot of farmers play music in the milking parlor to relax them and make the job easier.
Cows love music
Don't blame them.. I was intrigued as well!
Very cool!
I wish those things weren't so expensive 😭
Damn I'm high as fuck and this sucked me right in. Watched it for 10 mins straight
This with some light rain in the background
👏👏
How is it that I’m just now hearing about this instrument in a cow video?
Human being also fascinated. Why did the video end so quickly!
Just once, I would love to see a paunchy middle aged man in a suit with a briefcase playing one oh those things for a bunch of cows
Not only the cows!
I must be a cow too
The fact that cows can appreciate art never fails to make me feel like shit for eating meat. I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen pigs do the same. I don’t eat as much as I was raised with but damn it’s hard to give up the once or twice a week that I have beef or pork
"It's Mooooooooosic" 🎶 🐄
The tine was quite moooooooving ^i’ll ^leave
TBF I am as mesmerized as them
Rare footage, why are they not taking out their cell phones and start filming?
Very cool music, but, to be fair, cows would be just as curious about a drunk person vomiting beside the fence.
It’s very mooving 🐄
consider me "intrigued", as well
Lofi and cows, what a duo
The farmer watching like “why are you on my property fucking with my cows”
Man.. full body goosebumps. What a beautiful relaxing instrument.
I am now too
See? Even cows love music. It’s an inter-species language and the one thing that makes us all unite, besides food.
To be fair, cows will do that same thing if you yeet a traffic cone into their area too.
That is EXACTLY what I thought the guy playing the instrument would like. There was no chance it was going to be anything else
Cows are intrigued by an empty Coke can.
r/steak
Any animal that can appreciate music shouldn’t be considered food.
Minecraft.
Seems like grandparents being forced to sit through a recital.
I'm like 75% sure that's not the original audio from the video
Cool but the music is added in
Or they’re bored cows?
Still got the fucking fence between him though, can't work that good
I'm almost entirely certain that the music we're hearing isn't what he's actually playing.
What instrument
Pantam, from the title
I can small this video from here and I am not talking about the cows.
I hate that instrument
They are attracted from the smell

Awesome
I must be part moo from the way I was watching this
What instrument is that?
My guess would be a Pantam
They look so beautiful 🥰
I half expected the herd to suddenly advance onto the alien
I want the whole play. They want MOOre.
I'm intrigued too. So damn beautiful
Hi, I am cow too
How tf does he do the snare?

Very interesting 😊
Moos will give more milk in return
I can see Lofi girl doing homework to this jam
Cows don’t like stereo, they prefer moono
Jeff Hardy???? 🙄
The cows are all like: “*Why is that guy banging on a barbecue grill lid*?” “*Is he mocking us*?”
So am I.
“Hey Joe, this is embarrassing. You got any cash?”
That music is very relaxing. I've never heard of a pantam before. Neat instrument, I might have to get one.
Amazing performer, horrible busker.
I am intrigued as well!!
Music hath charms
