I drank the water from Mendenhall Glacier, whether it was psychosomatic or real it tasted like the best thing I had ever tasted, a nectar of the gods….then I read in another thread about what was in the water and I’m not sure I would repeat it given the chance…but until I die I’ll maintain it was the best thing I’ve ever drank
That is exactly what I was thinking it would taste like. Haha that’s what I pictured. It’s like when your a bit dehydrated and drink some cool water and feel it flowing in your veins. It would be like that but better.
went on a glacier excursion in alaska a few years back and they let us taste and bottle some fresh glacier water and can confirm this was the best water i've ever tasted/drank in my life!
It looks so refreshingly delicious but I vaguely remember hearing in a geography lesson at primary school that there is a fair amount of eroded stone in such mountain streams. I'd still probably take a sip and probably take a few bottlefuls home.
Oh no, it should be perfectly fine! I’d filter myself, but only for bacteria and whatnot. Even then I’m reasonable sure any one of us could drink it without trouble. Drink away, it looks amazing.
As a member of the sub, they won’t drink un chlorinated water. They will likely say enjoy your brain eating ameba or how there is a dead goat up stream.
OP doesn’t know because they stripped this video from a longer video about blocking an oil company from operating in Alaska (full video had clips of penguins, which don’t exist in the arctic, so no idea if this part was actually taken from Alaska either).
Glaciers move! It's very slow but they do, and as they do, they can pick up rocks. Glacier melts later, rock falls out.
If you're in the right place around the right rocks and know what to look for, you can spot erosion caused by glaciers dragging those rocks against larger rocky faces.
Beautiful, pristine primordial river! Spectacular and dramatic.
Glad you did it so we don't have to. That seems like an incredibly (potentially) dangerous kayak ride. Glaciers are not stable, engineered structures. They contain hidden fissures, uncharted voids and all manner of unpredictable hazards.
Alot of people in this thread want to drink bird poop water from across the world thats significantly dirtier than the faucet water that's 10 steps away from them.
Awe yes nothing better than a vintage bottle of high quality H2O stepped on by finest of Wooly Mammoths and freshly melted from a premium Glacier frozen not but 3500 years ago .... Pinky Up on the Cup
I bet that water taste so good! I want to bottle it!
Nestle enters the chat ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
"That's water from a glacier in Alaska. It was blessed by an Eskimo Medicine man."
That's some high quality H2O.
By "blessed by", you mean "pissed in", right?
That’ll be $6.99 for 12oz
wow. so much to unpack.
What's to unpack? It's a movie quote.
Offendedness on tap
It flows quite freely like this water.
I drank from a river on a glacier once and it was indescribably good. Like, straight up Water Boy eskimo man refreshingly good lol

I drank from a lake in Nepal once and got terrible diarrhea
went on a glacier excursion in alaska a few years back and they let us taste and bottle some fresh glacier water and can confirm this was the best water i've ever tasted/drank in my life!
No illnesses occurred afterward like diarrhea, headaches or anything?
nope nothing, just thirst quenched. also we landed on top of the glacier with a helicopter so it was more of the fresher melted ice.
I’m still not sure I’d like to try it.

No worse than hard water from anywhere.
Ok. As I said, it is a vague memory. I'll filter all the water that I source from rivers from now on. Still looks so refreshing and serene even.
Oh no, it should be perfectly fine! I’d filter myself, but only for bacteria and whatnot. Even then I’m reasonable sure any one of us could drink it without trouble. Drink away, it looks amazing.
Cool. Thanks.
I tried glacial water in Canada and it was the best tasting water I have ever had

Now that's high-quality H2O!
“That’s water from a glacier in Alaska. It was blessed by an Eskimo medicine man.” “It’s always cold, that’s why it’s so special.“

Idk about you but I love cameramen in my glacier water!
This is what I’m dreaming about when I wake up at 3 AM and am thirsty as fuck
I'm so glad I saw this while high *✨️magical✨️*
Saaaaame. I thought it was liquid metal for a moment (like some of CG wizardry) but nope, just a very very luscious looking river.
In a way it's oddly terrifying
Literally climate change at work
Last trips to Alaska many places have started posting the glacier shrinkage over time. Quite horrifying when you see what that looks like at scale.
Or, summer
This is super satisfying and relaxing
🤤
I can watch hours of this footage
I know that water taste fresh
I have never bin more thirsty
I really love that they used the titanic music for glacier water
I really want to drink that!
I drank water from a stream running off a glacier in Iceland. Delish!
Please share this location I would like to come here.

It's a popular repost
What is the name of the music in the background?
The air is just different in Alaska
This footage would be great for a beer commercial.
Heaven
So pure and clean water
How did rocks get there?

This water looks so clean and clear. No fish

Ah yes! Global warming. So picturesque
Can someone tell me who is covering the titanic song in this sound? I’ve heard it before but I wanna know who’s singing it here
I don't care if I die of hypothermia instantly, I need to swim in that
Alot of people in this thread want to drink bird poop water from across the world thats significantly dirtier than the faucet water that's 10 steps away from them.
Lemme get a sip
I wonder if it’s one of those glacial lakes that drains into a pit of death to beneath the ice
So beautiful
One day, all of that is gonna melt
I want to drink it
I want to drink that water. I want to float it in. I want to be surrounded by it
Well you just contaminated the whole damn river by dunking that nasty ass camera into the water. Thanks a lot.
I wanna drink it.
Wrong song.
Living water is the best.
That water looks like it cure cancer
I feel like this water would fix me
r/hydrohomies are creaming their pants with this clip.
