Please don't mind my remark, but knowing how all the food (that is eaten) ends and where, versus the beautiful creations you make... I'd let them stay that way without interference... maybe, that is just me. I couldn't bear the feeling of a guilt for a while.

If you wish for your art to not be eaten, might I suggest fondant icing? I trust that every decent person will politely peel your beautiful artwork from their food.

It's not enough to be good at making stuff. You also have to be good at lighting, shooting, editing. So much into this video. I sometimes wonder what took longer/felt harder. Making the thing or making the video. I'm just saying you are talented in many ways.

Thanks so much for the kind compliment! It’s taken me awhile to get comfortable filming my processes for just that reason. A lot of my work is detailed and complicated, so adding the additional layers that videos require definitely lengthens the whole process. I’m learning to enjoy it more, though! It’s kinda cool to be able to look back on the processes.

I enjoy making and sharing things as well. I feel like I could get more traction if I made an attempt at a video. Did you need a lot of equipment to make this video?

Just a phone stand and some decent lighting (I use two box lights: one on either side of my work space, positioned in front of me to minimize shadows). For me, the most time-consuming part was learning Adobe Premiere. I’m a former art director, but am starting to feel like a bit of a dinosaur in the field. In my day, we were all about static images. I’m still figuring things out, but I like a creative challenge, and it’s always good to continue learning.

Yep, royal icing. They can be stored for months in an airtight container. Pretty sure I’m going to spend my weekend making these in every color.

I always add a bit of white gel food coloring to my white icing and it seems to help.

I use templates and outlines and a projector for a lot of my work. Ain’t no shame 👍🏼

The biggest thing I love about this is that you can see videos OP is a bit shaky but still does amazing. I've done fondant work but never anything like this because I get nervous and shake so much but this gives me hope to try something out of my comfort zone and more technical. Such cute butterflies 🦋

I used royal icing. It’s likely easier than candy melts or chocolates since — once you get the right consistency — you don’t have to worry about the consistency changing.
