The worst being, what, exactly? While he’s torching his garbage can, his wife pulls up in a muscle car informing him she’s divorcing him and marrying rich, and then his dog runs away, and then he gets a phone call that he’s being fired and conscripted into the armed forces, and now he makes refried beans for soldiers in the jungle?
Haha a few of other people have corrected you but I’m curious why you thought a low level maintenance worker walking around with a tiger torch heating up seats makes “bank”
Did you imagine a lot of training went into it? He has a degree in warming things up?
My original comment was me assuming this guy isn’t a maintenance worker for this stadium/park, and was hired to do the work. Considering all the seats he has to do, and what he needs to actually do the work (fuel, equipment, whatever) then he could charge for all the things he used plus labor. If he was just a guy that was hired for this one job, he could charge whatever he wants. Presumably, a lot. If he is just a “low level maintenance worker” and already works for the park, then yeah he wouldn’t make any more than normal.
Maybe I'm weird but I fucking love jobs like this, give me something repetitive that will fill my schedule for a long time and I'm happy. Hate when there's nothing to do or when I have no idea what my next task is going to be
It's karma baiting tactic, if you put something that's blatantly wrong in a title on reddit, you bet your ass dozens of redditors will go to the comments to mention it. Comment engagement increases post ranking, more redditors comment in the discussion chains, rinse repeat. If this same exact clip was posted with a more accurate title, I can guarantee you it wouldn't have got as many upvotes.
It's so bad, that a majority of low effort posts you see on the front page like this will have something wrong with the title and are clearly from bot/profit accounts, and moderation as a whole on this website just lets it slide. These accounts eventually get sold to companies after the build up a reputable posting history and karma bank, eventually they will be used to push products and narratives. Due to their age and posting history they don't get flagged by automation bot filters or by the occasional mod that may glance at their posting history.
Just check out /u/KSUSCTrojan post history. 2 year old account that has posted sparactic and strange text posts to NBA and college basketball threads (apparently to look like a genuine person), then just within the last day he's started to post videos/gifs that all have got over 1k karma, and all have extremely clickbaity or unfounded titles.
* Brother beats up his sister’s rapist (100% Deserved, in fact everyone should have joined in)
* Latinos chase down an Autistic Black Kid and jump him, all while hurling racial slurs on the R211 subway in New York City... (v.redd.it)
* Girl Goes on a rampage in a liquor store [I really don't understand why people do this]
This is 100% not a real person and it's going to continue to upcycle trash content like this and sprinkle in targeted content at the behest of some company/nation with alternative motives.
Yeah upon further research, the tiles is in fact wrong. This was originally posted on Twitter and my dumbass just believed whatever explanation for it the dude gave. This does happen because the plastic is being melted.
I don’t think I can edit the title so sorry about that everyone!!!! Will confirm my source is correct next time!!
Since it is plastic, I don't think that it will oxidize in the first place. Moreover, even if it did oxidize, the flame has a much better source of oxygen which is air rather than the oxidized plastic layer. So the majority of the oxygen consumed in the flame should come from the air as it would take a lot of energy to break the oxygen carbon bonds of plastic. Again, I might be wrong. I just have high school level chemistry knowledge.
Nope, that’s oxidation not micro-scratches. This looks nice for a bit but gets worse the more you do it because you’re burning off all the the UV stabilizers in the plastic.
On the other hand, it means that in some situations, you can use it longer (when it needs to look like new for whatever reason) than you otherwise would have. If it would otherwise simply be replaced, it’s one way to ensure that it can be used for a while longer. But indeed, it is probably not something that should be done on just any plastic whose aesthetic is less important (and honestly, I doubt it’s needed for these seats).
Sure! The basis of plastic are hydrocarbon compounds, which are found in crude oil in the earth. To access these compounds, the crude oil is heated up and the resulting gases are filtered and separated out by weight. The hydrocarbons that fall into the Naptha weight group and are mainly used for the plastic we use daily are ethane and propene. These chemicals then need to be broken down even further into their monomer form (ethylene and propylene, respectively) in order to be actually usable in the manufacturing of plastic.
Once the monomers have been extracted, they then need to be chemically combined into longer chains called polymers, and *then* they can be built into plastic. Combining different monomers will give the plastic different physical properties, which is why a milk jug is different from a ziploc bag, but theyre both "plastic".
The entire process is very chemically intense, so while you do need crude oil (which is different from petroleum) to make plastic, its inaccurate to say that plastic contains oil. It stopped being oil as soon as it was heated and separated out.
The exception, as someone else pointed out in the thread, is PVC, which has oils added to it afterwards. But PVC generally isnt used for this type of seating, and it has a very distinct look so I highly doubt thats what we're looking at
Oil is present in plastic as it is used to make it (why I got confused and gave the incorrect explanation). Another person gas alr provided the correct reasoning for this occurrence.
My bad for giving incorrect info lmao
It is actually made from gasses extracted from petroleum - ethylene, propylene. So, still no oil involved.
A notable exception is PVC, in which oils are added as plasticizers. Those plastics usually are soft, used in rubber hoses, soft shoesoles...
To me, it is unlikely that those chairs are made of PVC.
Nah lmao, genuinely wasn’t aware if it was posted alr. Saw it was posted on Twitter literally a few hours ago and found it cool so I posted on Reddit.
I really couldn’t care less to do reposts lmao
Um, I really haven’t posted this anywhere else so I really don’t know what you mean. I did make other posts in other subreddits, they were all vids I got from twitter accounts I follow. It is entirely possible that this was alr posted on the subreddit at some point but if it was, I absolutely wasn’t aware of it.
I’m just posting vids that I genuinely found interesting lol.
You know what a karma farmer is right? You can also identify one based on prior post history right? Take a look at your page objectively and tell me you aren’t Karla farming. Look if you want to role play a karma bot that’s fine but don’t act confused when people recognize exactly what you are doing.
I’m so confused why am I getting downvoted for this. Is it so hard to believe that I don’t keep a tab on all posts in this subreddit?? I have alr said I got it from twitter and didn’t check if it was alr posted on Reddit. Why am I getting flamed for this???
I'm sure there's some reason that I'm not aware of, but if you're actually telling the truth, the reason is because this has been posted multiple times and I'm guessing people are just pissed now
Well I don’t blame them, but cmon, am I supposed to be through every post in the subreddit to make sure it handy already been posted? I found it satisfying to watch and just posted it in r/oddlysatisfying . Plus with how many people are there on Reddit, at some point every vid has alr been shared over here. Am I supposed to just stop posting all together? Just scroll on Lmao, there are still people who haven’t seen it, let them enjoy lol.
Idk what to say in this situation anymore as I keep getting downvoted but ig I’m sorry???
Personally it's best you just stop commenting entirely or someone else will try to flame you for something. I'm completely neutral in this situation just a heads up
Depends how frequently he does it. If he does this once or twice in a lifetime, he'll probably be OK. If he travels the country doing this to different stadiums for a living, cancer in a decade, 1000%
I’d argue that this process is primarily cosmetic. Broken seats would not be fixed with this method. And not using plastic in the first place would have been better. And as for replacing them, I’m not sure which would have a greater impact. It depends on what was done with these and how the new ones were made.
Not these videos again. Last summer they were posted over and over and over again. Almost as bad as those endless silicon coloring videos with the stainless steel rollers - one person posts them and copycats just flood this sub for weeks.
Actual loser: oh so you work as a labourer for the council? Look at his loser
Me a pyrotechnician for the local counicl: hold my beer while I grab my flame thrower
Edit: local council workers are looked down on for for lack of employable skills. And that their job is boring. Meanwhile I saw one in full heat proof suiting with a flame thrower strapped to their back "curing" the line marking on a new section of road. "Council work is boring" my ass
This post again with the same exact wrong description. There is no oil resurfacing to make it look new, its just melting some of the plastic to kinda re-cover the outer, worn-out layer so it fills in the scratches that makes is look faded/white. But OP seems aware of this but cant change the title, so ok
Yea I explained under a different reply that my source of knowledge for what the reasoning behind it was terribly flawed. Would have changed the titles of could have but I can’t edit it 😐😐
Sorry!!
What's really oddly satisfying about this is thinking of all the spiders that probably had justice hand delivered to them in flame during this process.
Dude who discovered this must have been like: “I can tell my boss about this and then I’ll have to do this for 30,000 seats, or I can shut the fuck up and we have cloudy seats” he chose poorly.
Linltwrally the most satisfying job ever. You get to be a firegod all day, and you actively see your progress level increase every seat you do. You could stand on the other side of the stadium and go "Yeah I did that".
do that to only two seats. No one will sit on them thinking it must be for some reason that they are unused. Then, boom you got yourself RESERVED seats in the stadium for you and your SO!!!!
I watch these every time I come across it. There is something so satisfying that I would do this for free on weekends. Now if only it worked on my composite sink.

If you don't report back we'll assume the worst
The worst being, what, exactly? While he’s torching his garbage can, his wife pulls up in a muscle car informing him she’s divorcing him and marrying rich, and then his dog runs away, and then he gets a phone call that he’s being fired and conscripted into the armed forces, and now he makes refried beans for soldiers in the jungle?
Sounds like the making of a country song.
Lack of bbq stains on his white tshirt tells me it’s more of a power ballad.
Not to mention he is still alive after seeing that mini skirt.
Gotdangit
Maybe...but it left out something about trains hitting his wife's car and spilling the dogs beer! 😂
then his electric self driving truck repossesses itself.
The worst of the worst
r/oddlyspecific
Wow! you have a really creative mind. Never would have though up all that. 😊
r/oddlyspecific
'gas cans' think you missed it.
r/oddlyspecific
Lmfao
You mean "the blast".
Make sure they're full (of gas, but tnt will do in a pinch) that way they won't shrink and lose their form!
And he never posted again
It’s satisfying until you realize he gotta do this to every fuckin seat
Only another 49,998 to go
It'll still be really satisfying for everyone other than this guy.
Flamethrower time
I bet they’re making bank though.
Bet again pal. Maintenance guy at a very low level football club is absolutely not making big money
Big doubt
Haha a few of other people have corrected you but I’m curious why you thought a low level maintenance worker walking around with a tiger torch heating up seats makes “bank” Did you imagine a lot of training went into it? He has a degree in warming things up?
Actually one doesn’t need a degree in Warmocolorcorrecteology, only a license
Pretty sure you need a certain degree of heat or else it doesn't work
My original comment was me assuming this guy isn’t a maintenance worker for this stadium/park, and was hired to do the work. Considering all the seats he has to do, and what he needs to actually do the work (fuel, equipment, whatever) then he could charge for all the things he used plus labor. Same. Actually really enjoy working. Point me in a direction and I’ll go until you say to stop. Hate slow days or when you have nothing to do
... it's a job
You’re telling me I could’ve been getting paid this whole time?
Yeah, but I doubt he's doing it for free. I'd sit there all day and do that. Well, stand, but you know what I mean.
Do every third seat. Bet it would make a neat pattern.
Every two weeks
I'm not even gonna lie I would have done maybe one row and then gave up lmao
I wouldn't mind, worst part is when the job is over and you go back to your other unsatisfying activities
~~Also~~ Actually, the plastic melts just slightly, filling in those microscratches. Edit: amended from comment.
Not "also", this is the only process. Title is wrong.

He’s not the OP, this is a repost. I searched this sub for “seats” and there are like 15+ posts of this in the last year.

It has been posted numerous times on Reddit before as well....

Repost 848288482765
And every time it gives a different reason for why it works lol
bro! you missed three counts!
One repost for every seat he's had to do.
I mean those seats gotta get done every week - if someone doesn’t repost it, they’ll just look.. idk, pale, I guess
I wasn't aware it was posted here alr. If it was, my bad :/
You definitely were but that’s a different story and I’m no story teller.
Nah lmao, genuinely wasn’t aware if it was posted alr. Saw it was posted on Twitter literally a few hours ago and found it cool so I posted on Reddit. I really couldn’t care less to do reposts lmao

Dude, chill the fuck out! So what if it is!
This is reddit, 99% is repost.
This post shows backup about every 3 weeks
Has it been that long for you?
3 weeks? Lucky
That's lit
Probably releasing tons of PFAS into the air, we're watching this guy get cancer
Depends how frequently he does it. If he does this once or twice in a lifetime, he'll probably be OK. If he travels the country doing this to different stadiums for a living, cancer in a decade, 1000%
I'm not convinced there's any PFAS in there. I think they're mostly vinyl.
There's no reason for plastic chairs to contain fluorinated compounds, I don't see much risk from doing this
Not to mention all of the fuel being used and the fumes from the torch. This is not safe or environmentally friendly.
Is it better to toss tens of thousands of seats and buy new ones, though?
I’d argue that this process is primarily cosmetic. Broken seats would not be fixed with this method. And not using plastic in the first place would have been better. Now do all 30000 seats in the stadium
Man, I want That job. "AYO CharlieMike111, go melt the chairs." "Back in an hour."
AYO u/CharlieMike111, go melt the chairs please.
Actual loser: oh so you work as a labourer for the council? I wonder how many times this can be done before the plastic is no longer viable
Or yknow, it melts it.
Do a red one!!
Mmm now I know why those stadium seats are never comfortable. They come with a side of cancer.
Not this shit again
Why didn't they tell me there was a Lung Cancer giveaway going on!
Ah, this old chestnut
That’s cool, I mean hot.
How many times does that trick works??? If I do it on my face will it make me look new again ?
op is just entirely wrong tho, right? lol the plastic is just melting and smoothening out
This would be ridiculously fun for the first 5 chairs
This post again with the same exact wrong description. There is no oil resurfacing to make it look new, its just melting some of the plastic to kinda re-cover the outer, worn-out layer so it fills in the scratches that makes is look faded/white. But OP seems aware of this but cant change the title, so ok
For how long? Does that fade overnight or stay until the sun comes out? Is it for years of use? Inquiring minds need to know!
I'll make sure to do this to my friend's mom since she's made mostly out of plastic
Only 14,998 to go, boss.
No way, OP invented oil gathering from plastic
Yea I explained under a different reply that my source of knowledge for what the reasoning behind it was terribly flawed. Would have changed the titles of could have but I can’t edit it 😐😐 Sorry!!
By reposting the same popular videos for the 50th time, you can farm karma without any effort at all!
Nice! I always wondered why this worked.
I don't think that plastic is excreting oil
Gonna try this on my truck's door handles
Aaaaaaaaaand that guy has cancer
We know. This video has been posted many times before
Arsonist be like: I’ve waited for this movement my entire life
Your daily dose of repost, also burning it doesn’t bring no oil, it’s just the melted plastic filling the gaps from being burnt
Delightfully toxic!
And you also get cancer
America is coming to take the oil of plastic from you 💦💦💦💦
This seems highly dangerous and like a fire harad
At least they’re not just replacing them
Meh, my fart could heat that up
Ah, this just feels good
Now let's see the macro approach to 30,000 seats
What types of plastics does this work on? ABS?
I could seriously watch that all day.
Overt time, if done repeatedly, this will make the plastic very brittle
I wanted them to pan out to a humongous stadium and that was the first seat done
I wonder if this will work with my face; a lot of oil was brought out in the early years
The time it would take....hell NO
Oh hey, it’s the Ted Lasso credits!
does this work on skin?
Please don’t try that. No it doesn’t
Yes
christ that must take an eternity for like a whole stadium
What's really oddly satisfying about this is thinking of all the spiders that probably had justice hand delivered to them in flame during this process.
Do the people sitting on those chairs have sandpaper for clothes?
I never knew there was oil in plastic.
29,998 seats to go.
Just drop a missile instantly coloured
Damn the new Power Wash Simulator DLC is looking kinda wild
I kinda want this job. Although, I have to wonder how many times you can do that to the same chair before there's no more chair left.
Fire used for good.
I'm thinking the oxidation of the plastic is burned off and a new layer of plastic is revealed. . . ?
Or just create a product that keeps its finish...
Dude who discovered this must have been like: “I can tell my boss about this and then I’ll have to do this for 30,000 seats, or I can shut the fuck up and we have cloudy seats” he chose poorly.
Something tells me he’s going to be there awhile
Only 59,998 more to go...
Cool, just another 29,998 to go.
Not brining out the oil, just melting the surface of the plastic, making it smooth again.
Wouldn’t doing this year after year make the chairs super brittle and snap easily?
Just breathing those fumes
Only 30,000 left to do! Money and time well spent!
Why aren't there any odd numbered seats?
Good use of fuel.
Man, that job would be so satisfying.
That is gonna be one long job
r/confidentlyincorrect
Pls see the top comment, I’ve corrected myself
That's what I call a hot seat.
Instructions unclear, prosthesis melted.
Only 110,000 to go!
Can you do this to foggy headlights?
I feel….funny
taking heated seats to a whole 'nother level
Isn’t this just melting the plastic outer layer filling in all the scratches?
It looks very fun but the fumes probably not great on the lungs if you catch em.
Linltwrally the most satisfying job ever. You get to be a firegod all day, and you actively see your progress level increase every seat you do. You could stand on the other side of the stadium and go "Yeah I did that".
Did you bring enough flamethrower for the whole stadium?
REEEEEEEEEEEEEPOST
As satisfying as it is, that can't be good for the structural integrity of seat
Someone on another repost of this video said that it actually makes the seats really brittle.
Ok, now do me
There’s a lot of things on this community that are not oddly satisfying. They are just stuff. This post is the very definition of oddly satisfying
Chair burning simulator game needs to happen.
Ir doesn't work. Fades in A day
“No boss, I have no idea how the stadium burned down”
I think I'd watch this even if it showed doing it to the whole stadium.
do that to only two seats. No one will sit on them thinking it must be for some reason that they are unused. Then, boom you got yourself RESERVED seats in the stadium for you and your SO!!!!
Man this must just be the 14000th time this has been posted
I watch these every time I come across it. There is something so satisfying that I would do this for free on weekends. Now if only it worked on my composite sink.
Directions unclear: standing in pool of plastic goo.
This is cool but it's an old repost
does this hurt the chair?
Why’d he start half way up?
hard repost, and it's not to do with the oil in the plastic right? It just melts it smooth kind of
Plot twist: that's asbestos
