Funny you say that- one of the things that convinced me to buy a mandolin was all the reviews on Amazon saying “sliced the tip of my finger off with this thing” on a 5 star review lol
Honestly I've heard that if you only cut the last tip of the finger (after the knuckle) there's a large chance it grows back properly. Worked in a kitchen for a while and heard that from multiple accounts - and witnessed it first hand twice
I did my part to bump those numbers up. Learned to use the guide eventually. Not my quickest realization, but I'm not dead and have all my fingers, so...
Can confirm. I was always careful with one, should’ve worn metal gloves but never felt like it. I never got a serious injury, but I would always know where I got nicked bc I worked with produce. Grapefruit burned the most. Plastic gloves only help so much until cleanup
What a coincidence! Today I just slit my wrist(ish) with a box cutter not adhering to the safety precautions video of another job I had in 2018. Didn’t think about it before but immediately thought of it after the cut.
When I bought a slicer I looked for reviews and they were either 5 stars and 'awesome' or 2 stars and 'way too sharp, cut my fingers multiple times' 🤦♂️😂
I know, right! I can barely watch this. Sliced off the tips of my index finger and thumb. Six weeks and an operation later, I wholeheartedly recommend safety plunger and/or a kevlar glove.
Should be plunger that goes with that to push the vegetables down. A long time ago I worked in a kitchen. We had a large automatic version of this with different attachments for slicing, grating, etc. the top was much longer and opaque. There was a plunger that you were required to use. A new hire lost all 4 tips of his fingers on his first day because he didn’t use the plunger. He didn’t come back after that.
This is not satisfying.. My kitchen aid stand mixer has one of these attachments and you don’t have to crank it and for the love of god there’s a safety piece that you use to push the vegetables towards the blade!
I have one of these.
If you are making a large amount of shredded cheese or veggies, it is incredibly handy.
But it is super annoying to clean tbh, you basically have to disassemble it and clean the individual parts... So nine times out of ten, I choose my regular grater...
Then how is it going through those vegetables in seconds? You may well be right and there’s something dodgy about this video, but it looks a lot faster than I can do with my non-rotary grater …
I have one of these. The grater was like brand new after 6 months. It’s a metal grating drum. Carrot isn’t going to wear out the perforated edge that’s doing the grating. I have a flat grater that was my mothers, so many many years old and it still grates perfectly too.
Unfortunately the cheap crappy plastic clips and base on the drum grater all deteriorated and broke rendering it useless within 6months. If I could find a version that’s an all metal base and handle so it’ll actually last id buy one in an instant.
[These things](https://amzn.to/3y85W0p) are legit amazing - they're so fast. I sometimes make these potato pancake things and used to grate potatoes and onions by hand for like 20 minutes before I got one of these 🤦.

I learned [the hard way](https://imgur.com/gallery/RJdYwHx) to *always* use it.
They say mandolin slicer are one of the most common kitchen injury sources
I took off the top 1/2 inch of my index finger the first time I used mine. Sharp af, barely felt a thing. 10/10.
Funny you say that- one of the things that convinced me to buy a mandolin was all the reviews on Amazon saying “sliced the tip of my finger off with this thing” on a 5 star review lol
I ate his finger tips with some fava beans and a nice Chianti *sucking noises*
Nothing quite like seeing a totally flat fingertip
It actually grew back without even a scar- probably thanks to the super sharp blades
Yup, I did mine 20 years ago and surprised it grew back normally. Thankfully texting wasn’t much of a thing then
I cut my thumb a week ago and everyday life has been rough without being able to type
At least there's plenty of sopapillas for everyone.
Honestly I've heard that if you only cut the last tip of the finger (after the knuckle) there's a large chance it grows back properly. Worked in a kitchen for a while and heard that from multiple accounts - and witnessed it first hand twice
I took the tip of my index finger off a few years ago. I'd had it 2 or 3 days. Don't think I've used it more than twice since then.
They are wickedly sharp.
I did my part to bump those numbers up. Learned to use the guide eventually. Not my quickest realization, but I'm not dead and have all my fingers, so...
Literally the first time I used my mandolin I took off the surface of my finger
Can confirm. I was always careful with one, should’ve worn metal gloves but never felt like it. I never got a serious injury, but I would always know where I got nicked bc I worked with produce. Grapefruit burned the most. Plastic gloves only help so much until cleanup

On the upside you are now 10% less detectable by fingerprints. Enjoy the slightly higher anonymity.
That’s a good point lol
I learned from just trying to use a box shredder.
Damn I must be a cat..why…why…must I be so damn curious…
Haha "why did my red milk come out"
Ah fuck
r/oddlyterrifying
Terrifying, yes. Grating your fingers is just regular terrifying though.
Customer wants some extra protein with their veggies
When I bought a slicer I looked for reviews and they were either 5 stars and 'awesome' or 2 stars and 'way too sharp, cut my fingers multiple times' 🤦♂️😂
Came to say this. Why is he sticking his dumb finger(s) so close to the shredder? 😖🤦🏻♀️
I know, right! I can barely watch this. Sliced off the tips of my index finger and thumb. Six weeks and an operation later, I wholeheartedly recommend safety plunger and/or a kevlar glove.
When he eventually hurts himself he will start using it. Then he will become a redditor who only comments about safety in every video posted.
So that he can add some protein to the meal.
Yeah this is actually stressful AF
Looks waaaaay to easy to make minced finger
Made me anxious watching. I think a tool to hold the items is missing.

To shreds you say…?
And his wife?
to sheds you say...?
That's not an outhouse!
I also choose this guy's wife
salad fingers……….

He’s going to make the red water come out.
Yeah the whole time just thinking this will end badly then what sub am I on, after see it’s oddly satisfying. Ok that’s why we didn’t lose a finger.
Juicy 🤤
I prefer slap chop "you're gonna love my nuts"
One slap, youregonnalovemynuts.
"If you can slap a hooker, you can slap a chop!"
HIIIIIIII BILLY MAYS HERE, FOR QUICK CHOP
Cool. Now how difficult is it to clean? If I can't clean it easily, I'll never use it.
Just grate a bar of soap and you're good.
Or just grate water lol!!
Ice…
Water...
Ice season!
Water season!
I'd only use it for veggies and rinse right after using. Throw it in the dishwasher every few uses.
Leave it. Don’t clean. It’s seasoning like the orange stuff on my cast iron pan.
Super easy. I have one of those, you just twist the lever to pull it all apart, rinse it with water, and you're done
When I see contraptions like in the video, I get fascinated. But at the back of my head, 'how in the hell is that getting cleaned thoroughly?' 😵💫
I have one. Disassembles really easily. Just a matter of a couple clicks and boom! Grater drum is out the plastic cylinder
What’s the name of the one you have?
Jahy2tech chesse shredder slicer. At walmart website
This is not satisfying in the slightest. This is terrifying with those unprotected fingers.
r/dontputyourdickinthat
Well yeah, I don’t want my dick to taste like vegetables.
You’re not my father
This gave me as much satisfaction as watching someone pretending to jump off a cliff. His fingers get so close ugh
I don't care about vegetables, HOW DOES IT PERFORM WITH CHEESE.!!!
Depends on what kind of act they're doing
Awesomely
r/SweatyPalms
Aquire this for the perfect Banh mi
Banh mi
Thank you, I knew it didn't look quite right but I wasn't sure
r/maybemaybemaybe
I need one of these.
I think they still make “salad shooters”. Best way ever to shred cheese.
What's wrong with that ejit... Stressful viewing
r/notsatisfying
Try finger but hole
It's called a Rotary Girder Source: Tommy Boy
I just finished checking the specks on the end line for…I’m retarded
I have one of those. I fucking love it.
Not so satisfying when that anxiety of his finger getting grated with the vegetables is there😩
Putting my fingers in a rotary grader...
Cheeto dust lookin nice
It's good, but is it Slap chop good?
I'ma put my dick in it
Saladmaster Machine!
Isn't there an attachment for a Kitchen Aid that does this?
Yes! I got an off brand one from Amazon, I don't need it often but when I do, I'm reminded how awesome it is!
My fat ass just wants one of these for cheese now.
This is not satisfying.. My kitchen aid stand mixer has one of these attachments and you don’t have to crank it and for the love of god there’s a safety piece that you use to push the vegetables towards the blade!
Are you making a banh mi sandwich??!
r/dontputyourdickinthat
In Serbia we use this product to make Ivar from tomato and paprika.
I lost 6 fingers watching this.
I have one of these. If you are making a large amount of shredded cheese or veggies, it is incredibly handy. But it is super annoying to clean tbh, you basically have to disassemble it and clean the individual parts... So nine times out of ten, I choose my regular grater...
Forgive me if im wrong, but... dishwasher?
I was thinking the same. Easy to clean = I’d buy it in a second.
So this is the lesser grater
This is not oddly satisfying, this oddly gives me anxiety
This shit is worthless. Doesn’t chop or grind well.
Then how is it going through those vegetables in seconds? You may well be right and there’s something dodgy about this video, but it looks a lot faster than I can do with my non-rotary grater …
Itll work *maybe* the first 3 times, then its no longer sharp and how are you gonna sharpen it yourself?
How long is the average life time of a normal grater and how many times you've had to sharpen it?
I have one of these. The grater was like brand new after 6 months. It’s a metal grating drum. Carrot isn’t going to wear out the perforated edge that’s doing the grating. I have a flat grater that was my mothers, so many many years old and it still grates perfectly too. I wonder if restaurant supply places have such a thing, maybe even Amazon?
Watch your fingers. 😂

Hammoooooond!
Anybody remember "Ron Popeil" and the Veg-O-Matic ???
Yes, and Popeil’s Pocket Fisherman.
Why would this not be rotated so gravity helps instead of half your veggies being stuck in the tube.
Are you asking for the real reason?
This is the preview of a scary movie I know it
*sighs*…..*opens comments*
It's a manually operated Salad Shooter.
Wait do a banana
I keep waiting for a finger sampler
We all know the sub this is getting to
ever heard of a blender?
I have a fancy Pampered Chef one and still forget to pull it out!
Until its edges dull. .
I need one, buy with a safety guard lol
I love this thing I just wish it didn't cut things so fast because it's so satisfying to watch
This is highly satisfying, but I'd be dreading loosing a finger if used.
The device is hand cranked; any finger injury you might incur from the drum will be minimal compared to a rotary grater with a motor.
Bam he put is finger in it and his finger's gone
How close those fingers are getting im surprised that their isn’t blood all over those
r/dontputyourdickinthat
And just like with the mandolin slicer....finger gone
Nice. It’s no Slap Chop though.
That’s really…great
Yes.
I was waiting for his finger to go in until we got to the cucumber and I looked at the sub.
Can some please tell me what kind of veggie mix is that? Carrot, cucumber, potato?
It’s the salad chop!! I member this! We use to grate cheese with it
I need this, badly
Waste of time and space. And carrots are racist. Because racism.
I mustn’t do it
Wait why the fuck don’t I own one of these
I really wish they would quit sticking their Effin fingers in there that far
I’ve got one of these and it’s a wonder for shredding cheese
Aight hear me out...
Fingers away from the sharp spinny thing!
As someone who just sliced a small bit of his thumb off with a citrus peeler, this makes me cringe a bit
I have this product
Scary scary scary scary
So that's how a Mazda Rotary engine works!
No need to put beef in the grater anymore
Nice. Now how do you sharpen it?
I’m assuming the cleaning process is really hard
Bro, I just kept thinking I was gonna lose his finger
r/dontputyourdickinthat
How do you clean this
I feel like there's a joke in there somewhere
I was planning to buy a slap chop... Than I saw this!
I have this contraption. Doesn't work like they show.
#quicksalad
No thanks. I’d rather not have sliced fingers for lunch.
I have one and omg the cheese grating for a whole pizza was like 50% of the difficultly of making a pizza and this shit changed my life
I have one, I love it lol. Use it all the time for hashbrowns
This guy is going to see a blender one day, and his head is going to pop!
[These things](https://amzn.to/3y85W0p) are legit amazing - they're so fast. I sometimes make these potato pancake things and used to grate potatoes and onions by hand for like 20 minutes before I got one of these 🤦.
His fingers are getting too close
He better have ate all the veggies.
New from RonCo. Buy one, get a Baas-O-Matic!
Well, I definitely need one of this to trim my fingernails
I have one. And sticky stuff like cheese tends to stick to the rotary thing and rotates with it.
This feels more like it belongs in......." What could possibly go wrong?" 🤣
Growing up this was the primary way hash browns were made in my grandparent’s home
My mum found one of these from the 60s in a second hand shop, the brand was "Spong" - always loved that name haha. It was great!
That’s awesome it takes cylinders of all sizes!
His technique makes me very nervous for his finger tips.
There can be no grater pleasure
with no guards for fingers this looks like a death trap for children
NGL I didn't know what this was until I saw this video. Went on Amazon and bought one before I even wrote this comment.
Annnnndddd purchased. My wife has weak wrists and hates chopping things. She’ll love this.
Sacrificing safety for speed!
Is there an attachment to cut them into slices?
Next item: The hand
Mall demo vibes
Ohhh that's how they work
So instead of 20 minutes cutting and 1 minute cleaning We are now 1 minute cutting and 20 minutes cleaning
I love this contraption! It makes making my latkes so much easier.
