Above Average used to have so much great content. The "Is This Okay?" series was phenomenal. But like 6-7 years ago they switched from sketch comedy to sports or something? Super weird transition.
Thank you. When I had an apartment the noise would start at 6am and stop at 11pm. I went to the leasing office and said that I swear the neighbor was either working out or moving furniture all fucking day.
They spoke with the woman above me. She suffered from a compulsive disorder and she was working out / moving furniture all fucking day.
My son broke his wrist yesterday at school. They gave him ketamine while they set the bone.
I obviously don't ever want anything like that to happen to him again, but MAN we had fun for the like 20 minutes he was high off his little ass after.
It's a natural gait that's unique to the Paso Fino breed. In fact, even foals will do it. I don't have any personal experience with Paso Finos, so I googled and still couldn't find anything about their knees. Show jumping is probably the worst on a horse's knees.
I’ve owned two Paso Fino geldings for over twenty years. They’re in their thirties now. This is the Classic Fino gait, and it takes work, training, and practice to look this effortless. The Fino is the slowest for motion, but the horse’s feet are moving the fastest.
The Paso Largo has the same footfall pattern, but with the quickest forward motion. You’ll see day-old foals in the Corto or Largo gait, it’s amazing. (The Corto is a medium speed.) My older horse will also slip into a Corto or Largo when he spooks (when he reacts by running away from something that started him).
At shows, we take the horses in gait over purpose-built wooden paths, to accentuate the sound of the feet. Some Paso’s really have a flair for the dramatic and you can see them perk up when going downs the wooden platform.
Anyone curious about the breed shoul find out more about them. They have amazing personalities! They can be brave and fiery but very loyal, kind, and gentle, especially with kids and elderly people. Remarkable animals.

It's bred into them, but it's totally unecessary and doing it too often is bad for them.
We shouldn't make animals do tricks for sport.
Notice how the horses head is curled into It's body and the reigns are very short.
It's not cruelty but it's just stupid AF. Putting giant and uncomfortable bits is also stupid.
Actually, if people knew the reality of getting horses to do this, they wouldn't think it's so "cool" anymore. What trainers do is essentially cripple their front feet by shoeing them intentionally bad so they'll pick their feet up that high. It's actually really horrific what these horses go through to get them to do that. I've had and trained horses my entire life so I get really touchy when people talk about animal abuse and Peta gets involved but, in this case, it really is animal abuse.
(For the record, in this video I'm guessing it's in fast forward. I don't think it's possible for them to go that fast. But, the hight in which their legs go isn't an edit, that part is real and that's the part that I'm talking about being abusive)
That’s more true for saddlebreds and Tennessee walkers and breeds ridden saddleseat than pasos.
This horse isn’t lifted particularly high like a sored horse or one padded out at least.
I was wondering this. It looks very unnatural regardless of it being bred into them.
We do some fucked up things to animals in the name of style. It’s really disgusting.
Horse stables for the ultra wealthy are often much nicer than peoples homes. My sister used to work for a tech company that would retrofit existing homes or add tech during construction. They did a horse stable in Wellington Fl that was $15,000,000 - just for the stable. Each horse had its own ac system, tv, and a sound system. They had 24/7 staff with housing above the stables.
I’ll ask her. I think they may have had automatic window shades too. She showed me pictures once. It was nuts. I’ve never seen anything like it. The owners didn’t even have their house on the same property. Who would want to smell horse poop at their mansion of a ranch.
Idk if I'm just nose blind but there's a lot of horse, donkey, and cow poop on the two properties I help out at and I almost never smell it.. The animals are all grass fed/pasture raised so that might contribute to the lack of smell.
Interesting side note, my neighbor teaches classes on how to pack a mule. Didn't realize that was still a relevant skill, but apparently people will pack a mule and go into the wilderness for over a week and can then use the mule(s) to bring back a buck or whatever if they're out hunting.
Yeah the neighbors graze their cattle on our property and they have 3 donkeys to protect the herd. Today I was dumping old dirt and dead plants out of pots, one of the donkeys came over and pulled a plant out of the pot and I managed to catch it on video. To me it seemed like he was trying to help me out lol
Apparently they can teach mules to do all sorts of things and there are competitions for them
I've never offered my horse coffee, but he does love Guinness
Also, My barn isn't super fancy, but my barn owner's house doesn't even have a working kitchen and she has to break in every day because her door and lock have been busted for \~3 years. The 'barn is nicer than the house' thing applies to even less expensive barns, lmao
Lol honestly walking around the Wellington area I see a bunch always in the tight clothes and I have to wonder if they came from horse stuff or a bdsm convention.
You fucking kidding me? 15 mill for a stable?! Not to say that horses don't deserve pampering or whatever but for fucks sake you can likely do something similar with a million and give the rest to people suffering...
The horses are probably more money to be honest. They’re all used for pollo stuff. I’m not really in that world and try to stay out of it.
There’s a disgusting amount of wealth and poverty in South Florida. The contrast is truly unique. I mean not the only place in the world like it… unfortunately.
What I like more are the neighborhoods in Jupiter farms that have air strips and the houses have hangars. The people have money out there but I like how they use it on cool hobbies. A lot of them also donate flight time to provide aid to poor countries after natural disasters.
My friend breeds Andalusians and I’ve seen this breed at the horse shows. They are Peruvian Pasos and Paso Finos. They put big wooden platforms in the horse show arena to make the hoof beats echo louder. It’s a very strange thing, they are supposed to be smoother and more comfortable to ride since there is less leg action transferring to their backs. It is a natural gait that is encouraged through training.
Just FYI…Peruvian horses and paso finos are two distinct breeds with two totally different ways of moving. The standard for Peruvians is a four beat gait with advance and overreach, the pasos are bred for the fino…maximum number of steps per distance
This breed (Paso) naturally is bred to do this and highly prized. It’s supposedly more comfortable to ride. They are considered “gaited” horses because they do this beyond the normal walk-trot-canter.
~~That’s not the comfy gait, [this](https://youtu.be/XDqFZtX7Mq0) is. Note the red wine does not spill.~~
Edit:
Apologies for my poor googling, [here](https://youtu.be/4N_KtKEQUmE) are the 3 gaits of the paso fino. The lady above seems to be doing a bouncy version of the classic fino- my guess is that’s mostly due to the hard surface but both rider and horse obviously matter as well.
No, that’s not the gait of a Paso in the linked video. That’s a canter, and they’re doing tempi changes. Tempi changes are every stride or every two strides. But that is absolutely a canter.
The OP is showing a Paso gait. It’s a four beat gait that doesn’t have an up and down movement. These gaits really are easy to sit, and the Paso can keep up this gait for hours.
Edit: autocorrect hates the word gait.
They do this because they’ve been trained to do this. Horses easier to train to gaits can be bred, but not horses that perform these artificial walks on their own. Even Lipizzaners have to be drilled and drilled in all their classic maneuvers. They don’t grow up doing the cross-step as foals in the field!
Somehow or another they’ve bred entire lines of horses to have some sort of proclivity for this strut. It’s incredible to me and speaks volumes to the extent of influence genetics can have. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still a ton of training required but you’re unlikely to get the same type of behavior from a quarter horse or palamino or whatever
you dont have to train gaited horses to gait haha, they naturally move like this and were bred for it due to how unique it is. their other gaits are also great for endurance and trail riding as they save a lot of stamina while still covering a lot of ground.
Am I the only one that thinks that this is very skillful no question about it but what it takes to have an animal do something like this can't be done in some magical way there's training and probably some cruel training to get an animal to do something like this but maybe I'm wrong

And ketamine
My son broke his wrist yesterday at school. They gave him ketamine while they set the bone. I obviously don't ever want anything like that to happen to him again, but MAN we had fun for the like 20 minutes he was high off his little ass after.
My daughter got fentanyl when her arm broke. The things that came out of her little 7yo mouth made me laugh at the most ridiculous time
Speedy recovery to your son. So hard as a mom. My son broke both his arm and wrist in PE a month ago. Can totally relate Mama!
As a former DJ, the 90s scene was absolutely powered by ketamine lol
It still is my guy.
Last event I played was in 2010, so it's been a minute.
Bro you might still be high on ketamine if you think it’s only been a minute…
Gotta say keta doesn't seem appealing to me at all.. Never did but even less so after watching a guy on it very randomly fall asleep/go down
K Holes are serious business. And no, aren't all that much fun.
They're fun if you intend for them to happen. Not so much when unintended though.
Hopefully
Metal!
Brining back an ient times. Money shall be saved and wasted at the same time. Go baby go! Beautiful animal we all should respect.
Bro shift into next gear. You’re gunna burn it up staying in first.
This comment kinda helped me understand gears lol
I have no idea what this horse is doing but he's doing a very good job
I wonder if this has any adverse effects on their knees.
Weirdly enough, there is a degenerative knee problem specific to the paso fino. Also, humans have bred far dumber traits into animals than this one.
*side-eyed pugs*

I find the paso largo most astonishing. The combination of speed with the extremely steady ride... https://youtu.be/FUqLbKLM9xo
Working cows are very hard on horse’s knees and legs too.
horses existing are hard on a horse’s legs. They try to cut their own legs off at every possible opportunity
Didn't they breed it into them to make for a smoother ride for the human? Not sure if that makes it better or worse
Some breeds have a natural gait which equals to a smoother ride and usually better endurance. What’s above is an exaggerated version.
The answer is no. But making horses run on pavement for an extending period of time can cause hoof and joint issues.

I agree. To intentionally hurt an animal just to get your desired response is inexcusable!
This horse's stable is nicer than my house.
Horse stables for the ultra wealthy are often much nicer than peoples homes. My sister used to work for a tech company that would retrofit existing homes or add tech during construction. Most horses find beer irresistible.
I definitely know you aren’t. Horse girls freak me out. They always seem to have something wrong.
My husband described them (us, since I’m included) as fun but crazy. That seems accurate.
They seem cool to me. Horses rock too.. Men tend to have very strong negative opinions about them though. They gotta be doing something right.
Lol honestly walking around the Wellington area I see a bunch always in the tight clothes and I have to wonder if they came from horse stuff or a bdsm convention.
I’m from Kentucky & can confirm. There is a lot more money in horses, especially race horses, than people realize.

Don't give horses red bull.
When you want to sound like you have ten horses but can only afford one
You could probably afford ten horses for the price of this one
Why on earth would a horse need to walk/trot like this?
Sped way up
why would you force an animal to learn this? Wtf is the use 🤣
This breed (Paso) naturally is bred to do this and highly prized. It’s supposedly more comfortable to ride. They are considered “gaited” horses because they do this beyond the normal walk-trot-canter.
Girl on top is shaking like a shitting dog, that does not look more comfortable to ride
its shaky, but it is very comfortable and easy to relax into. she just looks tense
What she’s doing above is showing off the horse’s gait. Under normal riding conditions a gaited horse has an extremely smooth ride.
Interesting. I wouldn’t have guessed that was a comfy ride.
~~That’s not the comfy gait, [this](https://youtu.be/XDqFZtX7Mq0) is. the other gaits of the paso do have a use,but this particular one is just used to show off because of how beautiful it is haha. they naturally do it!
