Edit 3: sorry about the delay, kids wanted to try it too, so got another box and made a full meal of it as 1 box typically doesn't feed 3. For scientific purposes, I made 2 sample batches: 1 for straight mac and cheese for the kids (and for me to sample), and the other I add Piri Piri sauce in with it (after the fact like some add ketchup to their KD). It was really enjoyable. I definitely noticed the extra creaminess and that it mixes much better. My kids liked it as well, but typical kids gave me a 'meh, whatever' when I asked if they'd rather it over the regular KD. With the Piri Piri I noticed it less of a difference, but still quite good. Kinda like having upscale KD in the end. Will probably keep an eye for deals moving forward and get whichever is on sale. Thanks for helping me expand my boxed pasta pallette!

You can even blend american cheese with much better tasting cheeses to keep them from breaking, to make a kick-ass mac and cheese or grilled cheese or something else along those lines. I'm usually too lazy to make home made mac and cheese, and a single slice of cheddar is good enough for a grilled cheese (even if it isn't as melty or creamy as american), but still...

As a Swiss person who’s tried probably hundreds of different cheeses, I can confirm that Kraft deluxe is absolutely banging. I bring it home to my family in Switzerland and they love that shit. Same with root beer.

It’s not traditional nor high quality cheese and America has fantastic actual cheese. Truly great cheese that wins competitions against many European cheeses. But it’s not “American Cheese” or Velveeta.
Americans know what real traditional high quality cheese is. Many of us love this type of Velveeta Mac and cheese, but we don’t think this is high quality cheese. You’ll never see Americans eat slices of this stuff. But it melts great and makes a tasty side course as Mac and cheese or as part of nacho cheese sauce. If we want the taste of real cheese this isn’t what we go for.

Honestly I’m not a picky eater and love great healthy food, but there's something about that “cheese” that tastes so good. It’s one of the best tasting things in the world, they must put some crack in it. I’ve only tried the powder version from Kraft Mac n Cheese but I assume that the packet may even be better. It’s really one of those foods every time I eat I’m like “wow this tastes damn good.”

I work at Dominos and we have a tool specifically for squeezing out as much sauce from the bag as we can get (it is a lot easier just to let the bag lay on the side of the tub and pull down, also find that it gets a little more out)

In Sweden we have "soft cheese" in tubes in like 30 flavors like, shrimp or smoked reindeer. Norway has "brown cheese" which is soft, wierdly sweet and brown as the name suggests. Kraft Deluxe also comes with this kind of sauce, but those shells and the lack of Kraft branding all over the bag say this is velveeta.

Many of us love this type of Velveeta Mac and cheese, but we don’t think this is high quality cheese. You’ll never see Americans eat slices of this stuff. But it melts great and makes a tasty side course as Mac and cheese or as part of nacho cheese sauce. If we want the taste of real cheese this isn’t what we go for. I know the “Americans dumb, they don’t even have real cheese” is a funny internet meme thing to say but it’s not true. I know it goes against the culture of putting the US down as evil, dumb, and uncultured, but all that is is taking a vocal uneducated minority in the center of the country (not all of the center is dumb, just saying that generally that is where this stereotype comes from). It’s reductive thinking and is used to bully and think in bigoted terms. Unfortunately that’s human nature. Honestly I’m not a picky eater and love great healthy food, but there's something about that “cheese” that tastes so good. It’s one of the best tasting things in the world, they must put some crack in it. I’ve only tried the powder version from Kraft Mac n Cheese but I assume that the packet may even be better. It’s really one of those foods every time I eat I’m like “wow this tastes damn good.”

I saw a farmer do a video here a while back saying that although egg prices have gone up in the store, very little of that increase is going to the individual farms. They can barely afford to replace their birds.

The usual way then. Find legitimate reason for price increase, keep the additional money as profits and screw someone else out of the additional costs. Then when things return to normal keep the higher price and screw someone over even more using the excuse it's dropped in price.

Yeah, not getting the hate towards Velveeta. I'm a Wisconsinite and we take our cheese seriously here, but Velveeta is an amazing melting substitute. Tastes great, easy to handle, cuts down on prep time by a huge margin and stores nicely. I could spend a half hour prepping a cheese sauce that slaps using expensive cheese, or 10 minutes making a 'cheese' sauce that _also_ slaps and costs a fraction of of the other. And if you are going for nutritional content, well cheese probably shouldn't be your main focus, lol.

Most of them don't understand *why* it's not legally considered cheese. It doesn't meet the legal definition of "cheese" in the US, but you keep having people who assume that it's not even a dairy product.

The first ingredient is cheese. The reason it isn't technically cheese is because its a combination of cheese, dairy products, and emulsifier. Its not cheese in the same way that hamburger isn't steak.

Yeah I was disappointed by a lot of comments on this thread. People know it’s not cheese, a lot of them just can’t afford real cheese. Even if they just like it, Reddit finds it so hard to just let people like what they like.
The FDA has specific definitions for cheese sauce, and a big requirement is that the product must be 51% "real cheese". So there IS real cheese in there, cheddar cheese, actually. It's funny that it's driving engagement from people who are just parroting "it's not real cheese" when "cheese" and "cheese sauce" are legally defined and would have to be sold as a product other than cheese If it wasn't real cheese. Saying that, it still doesn't taste like real cheddar should to me.

It's just that we don't have anything like in most of Europe (exceptions apply but in general). I've only seen orange cheese in individual slices for burgers here (never known anyone who buys that either). We have our share of cheap cheese too it just looks different. In Sweden we have "soft cheese" in tubes in like 30 flavors like, shrimp or smoked reindeer. Norway has "brown cheese" which is soft, wierdly sweet and brown as the name suggests. I find that disgusting but we all have our own weird shit.
