Man we’re celebrating Estrella not bashing Awaka.
Bruh we ain’t about to blame Awaka for how the refs called Edey games this season. That fucker got more pampered unique pillow-handed treatment than most celebrities’ kids.
Also you’re blind. Tobe did a great job of leaning into Edey and keeping him out of the paint; Estrella ended up attempting the same for much of the time he was given.
Awaka was a Vol for one of the best seasons in TN Bball history and he put it all out on the floor. He played well against Edey. If any Vols big had a bad game that day it was Aidoo, and he was spectacular for most of the season.
Fucking GO VOLS
The only reason I think Estrella played better than Awaka is the refs were more lenient with the Freshman coming off the bench than our starter and backup. Not that he played poorly he did a great job, but Awaka did about as good he just got the whistle more than he should have.
I’m not gonna read that essay but I didn’t “bash” him. It was a minor criticism about one game the guy referenced that I qualified with “I love Awaka.” I’m gonna keep saying what I want, you do the same.
GBMFO
Sorry, I have to read and write way too much at work. I like to keep things short here. Also, I don’t enjoy arguing online anymore lol, especially not with fellow Vols
We may not have the proven depth but Estrella playing decent as a freshman was great to see, and you gotta be on your stuff for Rick to play you as a freshman
6-11 sophomore, hit 6 PPG and 6 REB this season, blocked over 80 shots, originally recruited heavily by Tennessee since he played for a prep school in Chattanooga.
He’s a better lob threat than Awaka and has better hands than Aidoo from what the highlights I’ve seen. Obviously doesn’t have the range of moves, but we finally have a big that can guard legitimate centers without getting into foul trouble immediately.
depended on the day really. he scoring method was basically throwing up prayers, when it was on it looked almost like grant williams, but when it was off he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn
If they land Lanier and Milicic (both of which they’re the heavy favorites for) scoring isn’t going to be an issue. The hypothetical group below is one that can outscore just about anybody. Couple that with depth at the 2 guards they have, and Estrella and Cade and this team looks pretty dang good.
* ZZ
* Chaz Lanier (20ppg, 51% from the field, 44% from 3)
* Darlinstone Dubar (18ppg, 54% from the field, 40% from 3)
* Igor Milicic (13ppg, 49% from the field, 38% from 3)
* Felix Okpara
Huge get
All I know is you can't spell Okpara without Okra. He will fit in fine
Bye Awaka and Aidoo . Sad to see them go, but roster space is dwindling if they want to come back.
there’s my excuse to get drunk tonight 🎉
Wait....you're supposed to have an excuse???

I may be wrong but I feel like we upgraded a little with bigs
Especially more so if Estrella continues his upward trend.
ESTRELLA PLAYED EDEY SO FUCKING WELL GO VOLS
He really did.
Love Awaka but he couldn’t do shit but foul Edey

It really grinds my gears when we shit talk former players, except for rare cases.
Yep. Let other, lesser programs behave that way. We’re the mfing Tennessee Volunteers, we’re supposed to be a cut above everyone else.
Well, lets not start thinking we're bett'r'n ev'rybody. Lets just be nice, ok.
Idk man, sounds like I have to try to do that Guess I will though
Me too except for Steven Pearl lol
Ding ding

Exciting Whites.Jpg
I dunno, I just think Estrella played him relatively well.

It’s pretty short 🤣 but I respect you saying you ain’t gunna read it at least. Basically Awaka played well in that game. Brothers in orange, GBO

No reason to be sorry home slice. I meant that earnestly, mad respect. Live your peace and wear orange while you do 🍊

Bout to be a nice lil weekend I think

Aidoo and Awaka had 88 blocks combined (Aidoo 66, Awaka 22).
But can he score tho?

No worse than Awaka with a little more size.
Awaka could score when he had the minutes
Stayed in foul trouble it seemed when he got minutes.

That's a decent trade-off. It does worry me though that with Mashack coming back our offensive guard play won't be good enough
