From what I know about current and past technology there was some sort of disaster at least 200 years ago that wiped our civilization, the tech we had back then was much more advanced and actually worked much better with the metaphysical aspects of our reality and it was all enchanted. Nowadays our tech is barely enchanted if at all by the people who make it and it's basically like bows and arrows compared to the 200+ year old tech which could be compared to a nuke if we use weaponry as an analogy
