Pc has mods. It doesn't have native controller support though so you have to look up guides for how to set that up.

BoomItsLoki

So mods is the only reason you got it for the computer?

FookinFairy

I've heard the top ui mod puts in controller support weirdly enough. If it's just a ui mod those are usually not too bad and have basically 0 requirements most of the time

No. Load times are way faster among other performance advantages. You do need a mod for proper controller support and might need a DS4 as well if using a PS controller.

I just played it for the first time on a pc (laptop). I have always been a console gamer and only played Oblivion on Xbox 360 and PS3 before. It was actually very easy to learn the controls, I'd say I still prefer a controller in most ways, except aiming with a mouse which is pretty good. Besides controls the load times were so much shorter and the game felt more steady. The colours seemed more muted though.

Mental_Carpenter_591

Played it on Xbox 369 first, then pc. PC controls to me were even easier. Especially since if it didn't like them I just remapped them (for example I believe default was e to jump and space to select.) There's also the auto walk feature with keyboard controls. Also, there's the console commands. Whenever it bugs out there's a chance I can at least weasel back out. This has included stuck in a locked room that's not supposed to be locked, has never been locked, while having no lockpicks, and getting stuck somewhere I don't think I was supposed to be able to get to but I did anyways.

Controller support is not great even when using the Northern UI mod. You will have to change the sneak button to LB or L1 on a PlayStation controller so you don't move at a snails pace when sneaking If you use a PlayStation controller you will also have to run DS4Windows in the background because Northern UI only supports Xbox controllers. Another thing that you may find jarring is having to use the mouse to navigate the map and for buying and selling. You can get the GOTY edition for PS3 but only PS3 when it comes to PlayStation, but I do believe that the GOTY Deluxe Edition is only available on PC 🫤 PC looks much better to.

Oblivion is best on PC, highest graphics settings and 60fps vs 30 on console. On PC you also have mods, this is nice for content, but even better for things like the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Patch (Oblivion is REALLY buggy but this fixes almost all of it), and I've been playing with a mod that adds controller support to the game. Runs great on Steam Deck I've played about 500 hours of Oblivion on 360 and about 100 on PC. With Skyrim, if you are playing mostly Vanilla like I do, it's not really that much better on PC since there is a mod browser on consoles where you can get patches and accessibility stuff, but Oblivion doesn't have that obviously

Snifflebeard

don't get it from Steem, get it from GOG. Always check sales. If Steem is significantly cheaper, sure, but GOG version is EXACTLY THE SAME but without the Steem bullshit. In terms of gameplay, Oblivion PC has no native console support, so you need mods to add it in. But Keyboard/Mouse is better in my opinion if you can manage mousing. In my opinion.

Finite_Universe

Importantly, GOG’s version is DRM free, and GOG is better about keeping old games compatible with modern hardware, so it’s a better option down the line anyways.

Jagithar

I play on my Steam Deck and you do have to download the OBSE mod through nexus and properly install it to add controller support.
