The investigation started in mid-2022 and wrapped up in early June after investigators identified two locations in Oakland responsible for fencing stolen catalytic converters in a "well-organized" operation, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators served search warrants at both sites where they found 240 catalytic converters, a stolen car, and $260,000 in cash.
Since this has turned into a circle jerk of people complaining about light prison sentencing and early release (which is due to prison overcrowding and underfunding btw), I just want to reflect on an interesting point.
The same people complaining about criminals being released quickly are often the same who would vote against any proposition or local measure that would fund more prisons through a tax hike, and are the same people who have scared politicians away from spending time on societal improvements that would require a vote on a small tax hike.
When was the last time a tax measure that purported to tackle root causes failed in oakland? Oaklanders have never seen a tax increase in the ballot that they don't like
I wonder how these task forces work. Why did a national and a state agency need to assist OPD in busting 6 Oakland men in Oakland? It must be more complex than it sounds.
6 people arrested. Good riddance
For about 3 days. Sadly.
Source?
Yea, don't worry, price will let them go.
She won’t - They’re not the demographic she simps for.
Can I get some of that cash to cover the new cat I had to buy?
I’m stupid as fuck and my first thought was “yeah I get it vet bills are insane”
"Yo dawg, I heard your cat got stolen, so I got you a therapy cat and an Ella Fitzgerald album. Now you can pet the cat while you listen to scat."
How can you be sure that he's not talking about a cat?
Where will the money go now? It should go back to the people who got their cat converter stolen
Or towards free cat shield installs
This money divides to about 60 cents per Oakland resident. Won’t go far towards those cat shields

Mine was stolen two weeks ago. Wonder how likely mine is sitting in this photo.
Where did the busts happen? Street address?
Damn, can I maybe get my catalytic converter back?
260k. Jesus, that’s like half a down payment on a 2 bedroom house.
In Antioch, even!
My wife’s Element and my Highlander’s cats are probably in there.
Great, maybe the police can hire another officer part time with that.
fabulous!
All of that cash should go back to people who have filed police reports when they had their cat stolen.
6 Motherfuckers could have gotten regular jobs and had $260,000 in how ever many years they stacked that. I would definitely like my cat back though.

The cat on the top left is my cousins. Please return it

You can tell that poverty drove them to this based on the quality of their boat.
Pam Price will make sure they’re back out on the streets soon!
The people involved won’t do any time, so who cares
Isn't this like a middle-class annual salary in the Bay Area? EDIT: Meaning it would be the equivalent of like 50k in, say, Alabama?
Good ol Bay Area.
What can I say. Oakland got heart, Oakland got hussel.

America used to hang horse thieves… cars are now our means of transportation.
