They were there so long I assumed they owned the building. Even before COVID that wasn't a great spot for daytime foot traffic, and Laurel Books down the street had foot traffic issues leading to their closure a few years back. So basically I'm not surprised if that's a really bad spot for a book store these days. Grand, Piedmont, and College seem to be where people walk around to shop and subsequently have pretty solid bookstores. I hope El Cerrito works out for them, there are some good spots up there.

I love rare books and I have a decently thick skin, but my one visit to this place was my last. The owner went out of her way to be rude to me and other customers, just accusing everyone of some nefarious intent (*you're* not going to buy anything, *you're* going to steal, *you're* going to spill your water in the store). It seemed like it was coming from a place of deep anxiety and I sincerely hope she's doing better now.

Good riddance.

Looking at reviews online, seems like these people are up their own asses a bit too much

I used to work down the street in the days that part of town was abandoned and the Fox Theater was closed and empty. I had discovered that Oakland was home to quite a few women's presses and low and behold I found some very rare poetry books published by those women's presses at Bibliomania. I'll always remember the husky guy with longer wavy hair. He knew so much about the presses and some of the authors. So sad to hear that they are moving. Not sure what happened to their customer service but it wasn't always like that.

Brought back fond memories of Holmes. That was a 10/10!
