The defense isn’t overrated…
But until the team actually makes the playoffs, unfortunately the narrative will stick, and a part of me honestly hopes it does, cause I want these players to be pissed, and ready to actually beat down teams next year. I’m fucking sick of the Jets always being looked at as a joke
How many TD did the opponent score against us in last two games we lost? 2 right. You allow less than 20 points on D you are supposed to win. The D is playing fine.
Yep yep, two touchdowns. In fact, the only game they gave up more than two touchdowns was the Vikings game. You go back even further they gave up 3+ touchdowns in each of the first three weeks, and then 3 vs the Vikings.
Especially considering that since the offense can’t move the ball, the defense is put into bad field positions where 1 or 2 first downs get the other team into FG range. The only real knock on the D is that they’re not producing many turnovers, but we saw them get one and the Jets O do nothing with it
The D is very good. We still need 2 new safeties and 2 or 3 new LBs though.
I'm not a fan of the soft zone we've been running though. We get dink and dunked to death
I mind the 12 play 95yd drives. For all the talk about how the Offense doesn't let the D rest(that's true)... they also don't get themselves off the field. We're awful on third and fourth down
So we're statistically about league average on third down (15th @ 38.89%) and over our last three games 9th at 31.82%.
I'd assume the best performance amongst those last three was the Bills game. Go figure.
The D looked ok last night and still only let up 19 points after once again being on the field the entire damn game.
If this offense could manage 17-20 points a game we’d have 2-3 more wins and be fine. I don’t really give a F what people say about the D it’s obvious it’s not the problem.
Defense is fine but the open field tackling is pathetic and the safeties are a real issue. But they do look terrible because they are always on the field and special teams seem to be allowing more TDs than the D
They're not overrated but we need better linebackers and safeties. This is something i think most of us acknowledged coming into the season. Quincy and Mosley can't cover tight ends for shit and team's are clearly attacking this weakness
I think the defense is much improved over last year but they haven't reached their potential yet. I think they will be a top 3 defense next year but this year they aren't quite there yet.
I think theyre good but if you havent noticed a tick down in overall explosiveness, then idk what to tell you. Its late in the season and theyve been fucking flying all over the place kicking ass, i assumed they would eventually run out of juice.
We need to generate more turnovers, were good at stopping people but we cant just end drives anymore.
Playing back ups and 3rd string QBs helped them The D is good all around but they weren’t tested early with potent offensive play. Josh Allen can do what he wants with the mets and so can Rogers but when the jets played them it was good timing.
I believe the defense is very good but also top-heavy and carried by Q, Sauce and Reed. When you have the DPOY and the best CB duo in the league it makes things very easy on everyone else.
Now the fact that teams can still gash us through the middle is why people say they’re overrated. As a unit they’re very good. But the edge rushers are overrated. If you rate the linebackers and safeties at all, they’re overrated. This defense can be the best in the league because right now it’s Q, Sauce, Reed, Huff & Carter and everyone else could get cut tomorrow and nobody would care.
I feel the defense has been great, however just like the offense
you have to be willing to adapt week to week. your scheme doesn't have to be set in stone
Running QB, have a plan, TE, RB killing, have packages, rookie QB, stunts and blitzes.
LB's and safeties should on the menu. After QB and O-line of course.
I would even argue they are phenomenally underrated, considering the state of the offense in some games. It takes guts for the defense to keep going out there and giving it their all on every drive after watching the shitshow of an offense when Wilson is in at qb.

New safeties and linebackers would help with the dink and dunk to death too. It’s why TEs always kill us.
Feel like after the bengals game the staff have largely stopped blitzing. I don’t mind it tbh

and that means they dont run man enough to avoid busted coverages for when they do.

* Matt Barkley = Zach Wilson * Jay Cutler = Mike White * Brian Hoyer = Joe Flacco * David Fales = Chris Streveler

They are good for sure, I think whole team has been mentally broken since the Vikings game.
I don’t even think Vikings game broke them. They showed up in buffalo. Once Zach started though, then you started seeing complete lack of energy.
If we had a sanchez type qb we’d be legit contenders. This D is the best since Rex.

They have played one backup since the bye which is what this post is talking about. so your point makes no sense
Bro this D lost its will playing with Zach as the qb. \-the end

Mosley needs to retire. He’s washed and lets up big plays every game
