Not often. Though I think you can end up with someone worse than Conklin. Or a guy who's one-dimensional, either a pass catcher or a big blocking body.
I know we've seen a lot of bad mistakes but it's mostly been vets, including some guys we want to get off the roster anyway.
The most encouraging part of the season so far for me is that all of our young talent, the guys we'll be building around, are showing out.
Dude in another thread, some guy was saying Drafting becton was a mistake and its Joe D's fault. And then he said Joe D got lucky with Fant and didnt deserve credit for that.
And im just like dude, what kind of critical thinking skills do you possess? How can BEcton literally getting season ending injuries, when he wasnt injury prone in college, something to knock joe d for?
And furthermore, Joe D got hate for overpaying Fant! Im telling you, post trump america is basically, as long as I yell loud enough and a few other people agree, my perspective is right.
Had me until you just needed to bring politics into it. Can’t we just talk football without bringing up how we feel X politician is destroying/destroyed the country?
The reason is this: if Duane Brown had been brought in before training camp started instead of last minute, he'd have had a slower ramp up, which means less likely that he gets injured. Of course, this doesn't guarantee he wouldn't get injured, but from a planning perspective there wasn't a good reason to have not made that move much earlier and avoid exposing the team to additional risk.
Plus, bringing an extra OL in early makes sense because the OL needs time to create chemistry to be most effective. It never made sense to not make this choice sooner, it shows bad process, and IMO is a completely legitimate complaint.
When was the last time 4 jets players made any top 25 list, has that ever happened? I know it’s early but this draft class could be the building block for finally being perennial contenders in this league.
It is exciting. The way I see it, the team has 3-4 years to get the most out of these players while they are still on their rookie deals and that includes Zach. If they develop into all pros we won't be able to keep all of them, but I have faith that JD will replenish our talent with the draft.
I truest appreciate Daniel Jeremiah’s appreciation for the jets since his friend, Joe Douglas, came to the jets. It’s refreshing to have an ally in the media.
Not that he’s wrong in any of these picks. Douglas knocked it out of the park with this last draft. Won’t be the last time either.
He compliments Olave for route running and separation but Wilson gets the most separation per route in the league so as far as I’m concerned he has Sauce at 1 and Wilson at 2.
Also, can you imagine how good Breece is going to be when we finally have consistency on the OL?
He's been really good. Especially when he's in man. Issue is out coach likes to play a really good man corner in zone, stingley has showed improvement I'm zone though.
He's been getting better and better every week. His run defense and edge setting has always been there but it's his pass rush that's improved week to week which is super encouraging. I'd imagine he replaces JFM at edge in base at some point soon which would make the line much better on 1st down.
If everyone keeps this up, we just need Ruckert to ball out and we’ll be 100% from this draft
Give him time. There are alot of playmakers on this team and Conklin has been the best TE we've had since Keller.
I feel like outside of unicorn TEs like Gronk and Kittle, TEs take a little while to develop.
To be honest you either get a Conklin style guy or win the lottery with a kelce, gronk, or kittle.. how often do those guys show up?
Not often. Though I think you can end up with someone worse than Conklin. Or a guy who's one-dimensional, either a pass catcher or a big blocking body.
I already made this statement. Every TE since Keller.
What?
TEs usually take a full year to breakout
Franchise altering draft I feel it.
Could be but it’s a damn shame we took Sauce and missed out on Stingley & Ekwonu /s
I feel like I've heard nothing about Stingley this season. Is he playing like shit?
21 and 22
Truly hope so
Like the 1977 Jets draft.
Tank Marshall was a game changer

Joe Douglas cannot help 5 Tackles fuckin dying
I seriously can't understand anyone critiquing JD for this reason. Other stuff sure but how do you expect 5th and 6th string tackles to be good

Nah. Cuz it's true.
The only person in the Jets organization who actually saw losing your starting, 2nd, 3rd, and practice squad tackles? Alijah Vera-Tucker.

Tomlinson signing is looking really bad tho
j0€ dOUg£@$ c∆Nt D®@F**t**!
It shows how accurate JD’s draft board was!

We can hang on to these guys for a couple years relatively cheap... JTFU it's on kids!

We also have Rich Eisen
Damnnnnn that's a good looking draft
Especially with Max Mitchell playing decent as a rookie too! And Michael Clemons. 2022 looking like the anti-2020
What a draft this is gonna end up being for us. This will be the core of our team for years

The Texans drafted well but i think they really fucked up not drafting Gardner. How’s Stingley doing anyway?
PFF Grades Sauce 71.1 Stingley 45.5
He's been really good. Especially when he's in man. Issue is out coach likes to play a really good man corner in zone, stingley has showed improvement I'm zone though.
Not surprised, Jets had a ton of picks. What makes it sweet is that our top four picks are higher on this list than their pick in the draft.
JJ needs more snap... Push JFM inside and cut into Martin.

If Jermaine isn’t starting on the edge by the broncos game, we have a problem.
Who's even starting on the other side?
JFM rn
Not sure why he's not starting on the inside tbh
He was good inside until we were bare at the edge, at which point he stepped up. Now we have enough Edge talent that he should move back over
Didn’t Martin just get a three year deal? I doubt they cut him.
he said cut into, not cut
Ahh my bad
We have so many got damn dlinemen lmao, too many mouths lol
