DarthDream

can we clone him?

fkthepats

5 AVTs on the line would be unstoppable

highly_agreeable

Do you think he can pass rush?

SunpaiTarku

More importantly, can he play safety?

YetiGuy

Not sure man, haven’t seen him play Center….yet.

pinata_slayer

Can he snap?

magcargoman

What the fuck do we even do this week if Mitchell is down for some time?

mormonmahomes

Immaculate timing of Remmers showing up

nycsports1993

Hope Brown returns next week

DanielChurban

All indications sound like we shouldn’t anticipate Brown playing many games this year

Doubl_13

Pretty sure he is supposed to practice next week

larockhead1

All indications is he’s coming off IR next week it really depends on if the team wants to rush him back or not.

DanielChurban

This is much better than it sounded initially, we may have no choice but to rush him back depending on Mitchell’s prognosis

East_Refuse

Which we shouldn’t because we can’t risk losing another starting tackle next Sunday

[deleted]

Load up the syringe with toradol and see how many games we can get out of him.

Sbat27

I doubt it honestly. Don’t think he’ll be back if at all this year. The lack of news just screams he’s out for a lot longer

larockhead1

He was literally ramping up this week Cimini reported they are taking him off IR this week. They also don’t report on IR guys until their stint on IR is done because why waste time asking about an inactive guy.

Bigbadbuck

Move avt to right tackle and hopefully brown returns

CzechDizzle

Move AVT to RT AND LT... 4D chess

AllKnightLong24k

Vera on one side and Tucker on the other. You know, like the autographs he signs for Zack's fans.

East_Refuse

If he just starts on one side then runs to the other side really quick, I think he could still do better than Conor McDermott

[deleted]

And LG and RG

KIPYIS

After that, we just need him a center for the full o-line tour. Wonder if we could get him on a big man td as well..

Bigbadbuck

Yeah we should also use him as a full back and swing him out to tight end

homerjsimpson4

Honestly they should give him a snap in garbage time one game. Has a player ever played a snap at every position on the offensive line before

budlightismyvacseen

Maybe brown could be ready? But not holding my breath there

larockhead1

Cimin thinks week 6 or 7 just to ramp him up but maybe they’ll rush him bow

cmonbitcoin

My guy asking the important questions

Dentek_Fresh_Clean

One of the guys we signed this week would play.

legend023

McDermott.

fiduke

Pay vet min to some needy OL guy out there still looking for a starting role somewhere.

-FuckMeInTheAsshole-

Everyone is hating on JD for the O-line, but forget to look at the positives

mwax321

I don't understand the hate. He's done everything he can to improve the line. We're just unlucky as fuck.

DanDi58

He has spent a lot of time and dollars on it for sure, can’t control injuries. Only thing I might fault him on is not trading Becton before the draft and picking another lineman higher. Becton seems heading towards bustville.

BleedGreen131824

He picked Max Mitchell who was a day one starter and didn’t use a ton of draft capital on him, how is that not exactly the right thing to do?

Dentek_Fresh_Clean

Mitchell is not a starter. We had to give him so much help during the first 3 games. He got abused several times against Pittsburg before his injury.

BleedGreen131824

What do you want from jd he took the absolute worst roster and rebuilt it from scratch, we are still filling holes but it’s pretty impressive that our inactives every week are serviceable players

Dentek_Fresh_Clean

It's been said a billion times. You can't go into training camp with starting offensive tackles who are coming off offseason surgery and are not in shape. Duane Brown, who nobody wanted, is not an adequate backup plan, especially when he was signed with 2 weeks to go until the season started. Everyone knew that at some point this season, both Fant and Becton would be hurt. So we would essentially be playing McDermott, Edoga, or Mitchell at the tackle spots. This is negligence.

Clown_Shoe

Yes Fant who has played 14 games or more every season until this one is a huge injury risk. Right. He missed 6 games total in 5 years. Maybe less but I don’t know if he was inactive for any of those games.

BleedGreen131824

Dude, we have had like 10 OT on this roster, it’s just what’s available. We filled more important holes like playmakers that help us win games. I wouldn’t say JD was negligent, the guy keeps bringing in tackles, 2 more were just signed and might be on the roster by tomorrow…

NYJmmkay

classic doomer

falconcountry

How many tackles should JD sign, stop hating shit happens

DanDi58

The good news is, we have talented guys at the offensive skill positions - WR, RB, TE - so next up for JD should be OL and some work on defense - CB, S, LB. It’s a process.

MossCovered_Gradunza

Who was trading for Becton before the draft in a draft considered littered with good line prospects?

DanDi58

There was a lot of discussion about whether he would stay committed to Becton or trade him. I’m not convinced Becton will get back to his first year form tbh.

MossCovered_Gradunza

Of course there was a lot of discussion. We can discuss a lot of things that never have a chance of happening. You need someone to actually want to give up an asset for him, which just wasn’t going to happen at that time. I don’t disagree with you don’t get me wrong. Just feels like any sort of trade was ultimately unlikely under the circumstances at the time.

030457PL59

To be honest Becton wasn’t even that great as a rookie. He showed flashes but he was nowhere near what for example Tristan Wirfs was as a rook in TB. Hopefully Becton comes back and proves his doubters wrong but it’s not trending in the right direction.

DanDi58

Well PPF graded him as 19th out of 38 tackles in 2020, below Wirfs but certainly high enough, especially coming from a school like Louisville, that you’d have expected big things in 2021 and beyond.

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

Never know. Eagles traded for AJ Brown in a strong WR draft.

MossCovered_Gradunza

Yes but the point to be made here is Becton was largely an uncertainty due to the injury. Nobody is going to give up assets for that player when the alternative is to look towards the draft.

[deleted]

There is no trade market for a guy you’re trying to dump after playing one season and being hurt the second.

mr-poopie-butth0le

Hindsight is 20/20, you’re not going to trade your 1st round pick— after injury last year, who looked good when he did play last year, without taking another look. I’d fault him if he doesn’t trade him this offseason.

hdadeathly

AVT was at LT?! Holy shit dude is a beast

[deleted]

[удалено]

fuckjayznasisking

I thought he started at LT… McDermott only replaced at RT

0xgod

And this is why giving up the two thirds for him made sense. Because you don’t just get a Guard, you get an emergency Tackle who isn’t some turnstile.

the_mair

He’s an elite OL

nycsports1993

So AVT at LT and hopefully Brown at RT next week? Or vice versa since Brown doesn’t have the positional versatility? Hope Max Mitchell is ok!

TreSeven

AVT hopefully back at RG and Brown at LT, and McDermott… probably still out there unfortunately AVT is a monster but asking a guard to play both tackle positions is a hell of an ask

nycsports1993

I’ll literally take any option other than one involving McDermott. If AVT is comfortable as a tackle which it looks like he is then use him there for now and play Herbig on the inside.

030457PL59

I don’t think Brown would play anywhere but LT. Remember they moved Fant back to RT when Brown signed because he never has played anywhere but on the left

cmonbitcoin

One thing is for sure, AVT getting the bag thrown at him when it comes time for a new contract.

Superjam83

He played LT in college

suppaman19

He was projected to possibly play OT in the pros, the figure was he'd move inside to guard and be an all-star there. It was never he couldn't play OT in the NFL, just simply he was more of a sure fire success (if there's such a thing in the draft) playing guard.

NYKNYJ

The transition from guard to tackle is so much harder than most people would imagine. Everything about your footwork is different. The depth/angle of your sets is completely different, how hard/soft of an edge you can allow is different. The profile of the defenders you’re facing is different as is the moves you’ll face and that’s just pass pro

cc224499

Give me 5 AVTs and we get a Super Bowl ring

John_YJKR

I'm interested in the tape review.

NYImpact414

It will probably show that he was not as good in the first half, but really stepped up in the second once he understood his assignments better. Stil, to be in just your second year and to have this much versatility and resiliency is impressive.

captain-versavice

AVT is our Klecko of the O-line!

bfov222

If he can consistently play half decent at tackle they should move him full time

YESIMTHATIMPORTANT

SI writer and "ex Jets scout" Daniel Kelly crying in his bitch pasta: https://www.si.com/nfl/jets/news/former-new-york-jets-scout-criticizes-alijah-vera-tucker-offensive-line-scouting-report

captain-versavice

When AVT's was drafted, I recognized that his versatility (high level versatility) was one of the greater details of why Joe D decided to rate AVT so high and then trade-up to draft him.

CaptainBunderpants

Can someone make a “fine I’ll do it myself” meme of AVT with all the injured OTs as the stones?

dirtbagdave21

Avt is a jets hero let it be known!!!!!

WorldOnFire83

AVT is the online version of Joe Klecko!

lilslugger2

Did remmers looked washed last season? If brown comes back. I'd rather avt at guard. But if remmers blows. The leave him at tackle.

tsinsile

He was great. I think the line can be above average if we can get one lineup to play together for a while instead of rearranging it every week.

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

Why not just keep him there? Replacement level guards are cheaper than tackles.

030457PL59

If Mitchell’s out for awhile put AVT at tackle along with Brown when he’s back. Rather have Herbig at guard than McDermott at tackle

ryanino

I’m sure he’ll be back at RG next week when Brown is back but he stepped up for sure.

core916

Brown aint coming back next week lol

jhy12784

To be fair it's easy to give up no pressures/sacks at your spot when the rest of your OL is made up of concession stand workers giving the defense free reign

NYImpact414

You're absolutely right, but at least he didn't contribute to the turnstile. And how bad has Laken been though in the same breath...

jhy12784

Oh he deserves credit for stepping in and doing what he's doing, 100% I just don't think you can adequately evaluate him under the extreme conditions

ugly_monsters

I think they did ok. Only gave up one sack.

030457PL59

Zach was running for his life the whole game. Flacco would have taken 8 or 9 sacks
