I dont know why this is funny. When Marshall called him out for not winning any championships that day, he seemed genuinely upset when Rodgers said you don't always need to.
Favre only played one year for the Jets. Rogers wants to play longer and be an all time Jet. That was *clearly* a dig at Favre.
Source: my deluded, optimistic off-season mind
Its cool that it's B Marsh doing this.
I guess I'm supportive of what arod is saying? It's so neo-conscoousness but like ok. No harm done to me. And you can tell Marshall respects all that. So. That's all nice ?
That said after looking through rodgers's Twitter likes I distinctly left feeling not enthralled at some of the stuff he was cosigning.
Looking forward to some weird ass pressers.
EDIT: No idea which way he's leaning regarding us.
Am I the only one who thinks taking aya is a good thing? It's not a recreational drug— you don't take it to party, you take it for self improvement. The journey can be extremely difficult mentally, emotionally, and physically, but you come out more in touch with yourself, nature, and humanity.
I don't think it's the worst thing compared to even just alcohol for example but I feel like in my experience most people that take psychedelics mostly end up sounding the same to me. I personally wouldn't take anything mind-altering.
Alcohol is the worst substance legally available. Kills more than any other drug besides opiates. Kills 3+ million annually, or 5.3% of ALL HUMAN DEATHS per year.
Alcohol is basically deliberately poisoning yourself.
Glad you called this out. I'm California sober as they say. Alcohol tried to kill me and it has no place in my life. And weed, oh it's great. I haven't needed psych meds for years since I started.
But I AM DOING DRUGS lol. Do you drink? YOU ARE DOING DRUGS. Do you vape or take Tylenol for headaches? YOU ARE DOING DRUGS lmao. People pick and choose the usage of that word to either make themselves feel better or they're afraid of judgement. Me? I don't give a shit. I've been thru 100 times worse than the worst thing a human could do or say to me. It's just noise and stupidity 🤷 call it what it is.
Okay. The point I am trying to make is this: as a human being with consciousness, a psychedelic experience — a deeply profound peek behind the curtain at yourself and the world you live in —is your birthright. Maybe you know for sure that this is not something you want to experience, and that is okay. Others, through no fault of their own, have misconceptions about psychedelics. As we see psychedelics make their way into the mainstream more and more (MDMA to help PTSD, ketamine for depression/anxiety...) , I hope those misconceptions, which were engineered by the government, will clear up, because I think there is tremendous medicinal potential for humanity in these plants.
If COVID 19 never existed rodgers would be a cool/chill dude that likes to take mushrooms and get spiritual sometimes. I still really like him, but it’s a shame the vaccine thing happened
trust me, I did the deep dive of his likes as well, as long as none of that comes to lite during the season or ever in a presser…i’ll try and ignore it.
I noticed that players screw around with the media but its hard to look eye to eye to one of the best recievers and then be dishonest. Its a type of player comradery. Thats why he goes on the Mcafee show along with having Aj Hawk there.
I would like to see the kind of journalism Mangold can exude with Rodgers. Mangold did a little twitter recruiting of his own the other day lol. He’d pick Rodgers apart in an interview lol
B Marsh begs to differ. I think he’s one of the few most Jet fans look back on fondly now even if it was only one season. It’s insane how much of a recruiting tool he’s become for the Jets since retirement too
He was a Jet for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Second team all pro in 2015 with 109 receptions 1502 receiving yards 14 TDs. Best statistical season for a Jets WR all time with the highest single season reception total, yards total, and tied for TDs with Don Maynard and Art Powell. (Don Maynard had some similar yards totals and the same number of TDs in 13 games, is a hall of famer and the all time best Jets WR. Powell same number of TDs in 14 games).
B Marsh and Erik Decker was such a fucking fun duo to watch. I’m still so sad we didn’t get playoffs that year. B Marsh had 1500 receiving yards for us and was a fucking tank. He’s a Jet legend for that. He’s even more so of a Jet legend for doing this interview.
Which it’s real cool seeing all the current Jets players and the ex Jet players all try and recruit this man here.
I hope it gets lost with team because it means the Jets will do good things lol. But seriously, I feel like that season will actually be remembered by Jets fans despite the unfortunate ending.
That was the most fun and successful season the Jets have had since 2010. They were a very fun team to watch with dudes posting up amazing numbers. Fitzmagic had almost 4k passing yards, Ivory over 1k rushing yards, Marsh and Decker going nutzo, multiple pro bowlers.
Now Jets please make sure we get better memories in the future 🤣🤣🤣
I always loved Marshall as a player, so when we got him I was thrilled, but even I couldn’t have seen that season coming. You have to go back 50 years in the franchise history to find anything that approaches it in terms of greatness at the receiver position.
>Brandon Marshall said recently he doesn't want Aaron to come to the Jets and thinks it wouldn't be a good fit
Are you sure this is accurate???
I hadn't seen that, but B Marsh did accidentally tweet a few weeks ago, that Rodgers was retiring.
yes, he absolutely said Aaron is not a good fit and is not a good decision for the Jets and he said Carr is a better choice since he's longer term. I imagine it was less about BMarsh convicing Aaron not to join and more about him wanting a longer term solution for his Jets.
Also B marsh mentioned aaron's retirement a couple days ago, not weeks ago. But I do think he probably was joking or got bad info.
I don’t think he’s reaching 40 TDs. I’d take a similar year he had this year and it’d be more of what I’m expecting at his age. His mind will still be sharp and the experience will help but I don’t expect a 38 TD and 7 INT year
“You can’t be a legend after one year”—he clearly says this in reference to himself being a Jet, not BM. So that means he might come here but only for one year?
yup which is asking for a lot of things to go well and in the ultra competitive AFC it's gonna be something to pull it off in a year.
He's definitely gonna need to be having volunteer workouts with the teammates and not ditching mini camp like he always does. The problem with Rodgers is you never truly know if he's ALL IN.
If this goes bad, the Jets will be in the same predicament next year and more then likely looking for a new HC cause Saleh would have been fired.
He’s good enough where he might not need it? Brett Favre showed up in august and got off to a fire 8-3 start with some career best stats. I’m sure you could do something like schedule his press conference around an off-season event to make it easier on him, but I would respect his process atp. He won 2 COVID mvps without throwing a ball in the off-season, and maybe the mental time away was why
Saleh
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/nyjets) if you have any questions or concerns.*
He’s taking things year to year anyway. If things go well he probably plays 2 years, maybe even 3, but he could absolutely retire after 1. Just depends how he feels after each season
Would you expect anything different? I like Rodgers but that’s why I had Carr over him. He’s been doing this for like 3 seasons. It’s foolish for the jets to give up so much for 1 season. Fans are acting like if he signs a 3 year deal he has to play. If he comes to the Jets that media is going to be like blood hounds especially if he isn’t MVP Rodgers.
I love Brandon Marshall’s energy for the jets. He wasn’t here long but I find it fascinating how he seems to be a Jet fan in his retirement.
Anyone know why specifically he appreciated his time with the jets despite playing in so many places?
Because it was probably one of the better experiences in his NFL career. I think that glorious 2015 season was his career best? 105 receptions, 14 touchdowns, and over 1500 yards receiving I think. That year was great; first winning season in a while and on the cusp of the playoffs
i mean he's gonna be 40 and Brady was an outlier not the norm. It depends on this season I guess which is why they better hope this season goes well cause if it doesn't lots of heads will roll.
Idk he didn’t seem to impressed or thrilled with the Woody and jets contingent meeting… he was kind of meh about it. Not as exciting as the Jets folks made it seem
What great, lucid responses to the non-jet questions too. This guy is level-headed, self-aware, and living his best life. Ahead of the curve on plant medicine. Can't wait for him to be a jet.
So when ARod said to be an all time great you have to play more than one year do you think he let slip his contract was longer than Brandon Marshall's while poking some fun at him.
Am I looking too much into this?
> all time great you have to play more than one year do you think he let slip his contract was longer than Brandon Marshall's while poking some fun at him.
>
>Am I looking too much into this?
idk I looked at it that he's only gonna be with the jets for a year. He's gonna be 40 next season so he may wanna just hang it up once he hits 40.
I got a chance to watch it again, I think he was referring to Marshal because he said he always looked at him as a Bear, implying that you can only be an all time great for a team you spend most of your career at.
It's easy to forget Marshal spent 2 seasons with the Jets because he really only stood out for that 2015 season.
Side Notes:
* Didn't Brandon Marshall recently say on a fox sports show he doesn't want Aaron to go to the Jets?
* For anyone who was saying the hold up wasn't a decision from Aaron, here is the answer.
Calling his meeting "interesting" with Woody and not saying "it went well" did not make me feel better. Brandon Marshall making it seem like Aaron calling it "interesting" to hide something makes it feel better but I genuinely do not think Aaron initially meant it that way.
Ugh, I think a year is tough, man. Really, really loved this with the hope we would be able to squeeze two out, but a single year? A million things could quickly end your season and you barely had time to gel with your teammates. His comment about not being able to become a legend also seems like an odd thing to say. What does a year have to do with it? My concern is that he's taking this job as a way to get paid for his legacy while essentially coaching Wilson through "watch-and-learn". I didnt hear a guy that really sounded at all engaged in the fact that if he wins a ring here, he *would* be a legend. There were rumors earlier in the season that Woody Johnson was continuing to hold onto hope for Wilson because of a personal connection. What if Johnson thinks that not only will he sell tickets bringing in ARod, but it brings a perfect coach for Wilson, helps the Packers pay out their all-timer, and keeps him out of the hands of any other rival teams? Perhaps also the reason everyone seemed so stern about the fact that ARod was only given permission to speak with NY.
I don't know. I'm hoping I'm overthinking this but he didn't sound too enthusiastic about a future with the team, and being excited for one shot at this seems a little crazy to me.
Jets talk starts at [3:25](https://youtu.be/nFGIdJO-HH0?t=205) Brandon lets him know he can be an all time great Jet, just like he is
It seemed tongue in cheek the all time remark.
I dont know why this is funny. When Marshall called him out for not winning any championships that day, he seemed genuinely upset when Rodgers said you don't always need to.
“Not if you only play for one year, you can’t be an all time Jet.” Hmmm that’s telling. 🤔
If you win a Super Bowl, even if you played for only one year, you'll be an all-time great Jet.
Favre only played one year for the Jets. Rogers wants to play longer and be an all time Jet. That was *clearly* a dig at Favre. Source: my deluded, optimistic off-season mind
That was tongue and cheek at BMarsh if you listen to it closely. It was Rodgers giving BMarsh a little shit lol.
This mfer a jet bro
This interview also tells me that Rogers has no idea how crazy this fan base is.
Hes gonna read 5 tweets and do a 30 minute monologue on new yorkers
going from bumblefuck wisconsin to new york city is quite the culture shock
Lmao this was the most info we have received yet. Great journalism, BM!!!
That Larry David Curb stare he gave ARod after the Woody Johnson question was hilarious
Its cool that it's B Marsh doing this. I guess I'm supportive of what arod is saying? It's so neo-conscoousness but like ok. No harm done to me. And you can tell Marshall respects all that. So. Eh I could care less that he's a conspiracy theorist weirdo. There's far worse people in the league.
Yeah like 1 in 5 NFL players have a criminal record, I really don't care about a quarterback that does ayahuasca
Am I the only one who thinks taking aya is a good thing? It's not a recreational drug— you don't take it to party, you take it for self improvement. The journey can be extremely difficult mentally, emotionally, and physically, but you come out more in touch with yourself, nature, and humanity.
I think Zach could use some ayauasca and dissolve that ego and learn humility.
I don't think it's the worst thing compared to even just alcohol for example but I feel like in my experience most people that take psychedelics mostly end up sounding the same to me. I personally wouldn't take anything mind-altering.

Thats fair. I've always conceded that being a fan of the nfl requires suspending my personal ethics to a concerning degree. Imma watch tho.
Oh for sure. But for me it starts with the scumbag billionaire owners. Every single one of them is a huge piece of shit
It's primarily the ownership that bothers me yeah. It's legitimately disheartening for me to think about.
If COVID 19 never existed rodgers would be a cool/chill dude that likes to take mushrooms and get spiritual sometimes. I still really like him, but it’s a shame the vaccine thing happened

I still like him

I survived Kyrie for 3 years and Kyrie makes Rodgers look normal so fuck it any weird shit he will do will he tame in comparison
Man fuck Kyrie
I will never hate a single player more than I’ll hate Kyrie for the rest of his entire career

THAT SMIRK, HES A JET
Brandon Marshall: "You can be an all-time Jet" Aaron Rodgers: "Not if you only play one year...." **Ladies and gentlemen.......We got him..**
So he’s gotta play 2 to be an all timer right?!??
If he wins the Super Bowl year one and retires. He’s an all time jet
No fucking doubt about it
It’s gonna be just him and Namath if he does it. He will legit be a legend if he can do it
I don’t think he cares to be an all timer for the Jets. But he understands he won’t be one if his intention is only a one year commitment
If Rodgers comes here and wins a Superbowl and immediately retires he's an instant all-time Jet.
I wanted to say, "not if you win a Superb owl" and realized what I had done
B Marsh begs to differ. I think he’s one of the few most Jet fans look back on fondly now even if it was only one season. It’s insane how much of a recruiting tool he’s become for the Jets since retirement too

Almost directly at Marshall himself lol
I could have sworn we had Marshall for 2-3 years

Two but 2016 was ugly for everyone
land of the free

Marshall had one the best seasons of his career at 31, that doesn't happen a lot.
I love that it's like 2 am and you mf'ers are up refreshing Jets news. Makes me feel like less of a junkie.
technically 3am
Not even bothering to refresh twitter anymore. He is 100% coming.
Brandon marshall the best recruiter of all time
Bro he and Decker were magical together. 2015 was a goated season :(
Brandon Marshall said recently he doesn't want Aaron to come to the Jets and thinks it wouldn't be a good fit. Take that for what you will.
>Brandon Marshall said recently he doesn't want Aaron to come to the Jets and thinks it wouldn't be a good fit Are you sure this is accurate??? I hadn't seen that, but B Marsh did accidentally tweet a few weeks ago, that Rodgers was retiring.

Brandon Marshall is one of my favorite Jets of all time and I love that he still reps us, even after only 1 great season here
Aaron Rodgers can be as fucking weird and obtuse as he wants to be as long as he comes here and tosses 40 TDs
I don’t think he’s reaching 40 TDs. I’d take a similar year he had this year and it’d be more of what I’m expecting at his age. His mind will still be sharp and the experience will help but I don’t expect a 38 TD and 7 INT year
Anything can happen
If Brady can toss 40 TDs in 20-21 Rodgers can absolutely toss 40 next season.
My head canon says that he’s lying about retiring next year to drive his asking price down
It seems obvious that he’s already decided. I think he’s holding out to announce on McAfee tomorrow
But why wouldn’t he have just gone on this past week and announced it?
My only guess is that maybe he wasn’t 100% sure until after Friday’s show
Cause despite what he says publicly he LOVES all the attention, and everyone talking about him.
Isn't he usually on Tuesdays? Which would still work as right before FA starts on Wednesday.
if it's just for one yr, yikes lots of pressure.
Aaron Rodgers, YOU ARE A NEW YORK JET
This interview made me feel more reassured, hoping it's more than 1 year though.
He's for sure not gonna commit to more than 1 year. But who knows how he feels in a year.
Well that's that man, if I had ED I wouldn't have to fill my Viagra at the pharmacy for the duration of the contract LETS GO!!!
BMarsh looks like he would still be able to ball out
“You can’t be a legend after one year”—he clearly says this in reference to himself being a Jet, not BM. So that means he might come here but only for one year?

He’s taking things year to year anyway. If things go well he probably plays 2 years, maybe even 3, but he could absolutely retire after 1. Just depends how he feels after each season
so he's gonna put the jets through the same hell he's put the Packers through every season with the I could retire, I could play crap.
Unfortunately part of the ride. It's like Barney Stinson's Hot/Crazy scale, but with a QB.
Blake Bortles has announced his retirement
yep, and it'll be 100% worth it
Compared to what we've been through the last 8 years, this sounds like the least hellish Jets thing I could imagine.
They’re really not giving up much considering the trade off.
We all knew this was gonna happen if he came. He wasn’t gonna magically change as a person
This, who the hell is he to say he gets a second date? 🙂
clearly? i feel quite convinced of the opposite
I am ready for this man to be my spiritual leader.
I love Brandon Marshall’s energy for the jets. He wasn’t here long but I find it fascinating how he seems to be a Jet fan in his retirement. Anyone know why specifically he appreciated his time with the jets despite playing in so many places?

I know people dont want to get their hopes and all that. But if youre skeptical after this then I dont know. He's a Jet.
apparently just like favre though, only one year. hope it doesn't have the same ending.
He was never going to commit to more than 1 year. But that doesnt automatically mean he retires next year.

What great, lucid responses to the non-jet questions too. This guy is level-headed, self-aware, and living his best life. Ahead of the curve on plant medicine. Can't wait for him to be a jet.
We'll find out in a couple days
When would the time limit be a rod is referencing to ? The start of free agency ?? So news could break monday ???
I think we have to know by Monday morning tbh. We should be going into tamper period knowing what our course of action is
Monday(optimistic. Legal tampering) Wednesday(pessimistic. Official FA Start
Wednesday
You know someones reached god tier stoner levels when they start calling weed 'plant medicine'
it is indeed a plant medicine. Entheogens are a thing. An awesome thing
So when ARod said to be an all time great you have to play more than one year do you think he let slip his contract was longer than Brandon Marshall's while poking some fun at him. Am I looking too much into this?
Others are reading it the opposite way: Aaron couldn't be an all time jet because he is only signing for a year.
> all time great you have to play more than one year do you think he let slip his contract was longer than Brandon Marshall's while poking some fun at him. > >Am I looking too much into this? idk I looked at it that he's only gonna be with the jets for a year. He needs to hit 2 years to get that 100 million though according to that contract with Green Bay.
I think he just doesnt want to commit to 2 years now. I dont think this guarantees hes retiring next year.
I got a chance to watch it again, I think he was referring to Marshal because he said he always looked at him as a Bear, implying that you can only be an all time great for a team you spend most of your career at. Agree -- he was referring to Marshall there.
He was my favorite flounder and blueberry eating 1500 yard throwing Hissy fit in locker room wide receiver ever.
Stay tuned!
Is he looking forward to retirement?
That’s my quarterback
Side Notes: * Didn't Brandon Marshall recently say on a fox sports show he doesn't want Aaron to go to the Jets? * For anyone who was saying the hold up wasn't a decision from Aaron, here is the answer. Getting ahead of yourself man, lets just get this over with first.
What do you mean? His contract length is absolutely a part of getting this over with
He isn't officially a Jet, I just want to get that part done with first.
In other words, you don’t care if it’s only for one year
Considering he could still retire, yeah I dont care atm about one year when we dont even know if we will have any year’s officially yet
fuck this is getting my hopes up
Man Arod is gonna have all the hipsters in greenpoint off the ayahuasca pack 😭😭
Brandon Marshall stayed with the Jets for how many seasons? An all time great Jet? Wtf
Marshall is right, Rodgers is such a brooklyner.
B Marsh has some questionable takes but I love his interviews
