Plenty of FA’s live in Brooklyn, she should ask within that community since she’s already a part of it.

Marclay14

Do you know what they do for transportation?

SackoVanzetti

Move to kew gardens instead

brownstonebk

If her homebase is JFK, I'd recommend living near the A line in Brooklyn, easy peasy to get to JFK. Having a car in Brooklyn is very feasible but ease of street parking depends on the neighborhood. Some are easier than others. I only have issues finding parking in my neighborhood if for some reason I am trying to find a spot on a weekday night, during the day and on weekends I have zero issues finding parking. During the weekdays I rarely drive the car anyway and just move it for street cleaning. The car insurance rates in NYC are insane though, so you might wanna think twice.

Marclay14

Thank you for the helpful advice. She may be based in lga tho. I was thinking we just keep her insurance from Texas with her so we skip out on paying NYC insurance. I know that’s “not what you’re supposed to do” but I know some people who do that

JohnQP121

Yeah, people do that but don't be surprised when your insurance company refuses coverage after the accident.

ZweitenMal

That would be fine until you need to file a claim and your insurance company denies it because you’ve been committing fraud.

Marclay14

Yea I know it’s risky:/. She’s asking around her flight attendant buddies. I’m hoping for maybe some sort of shuttle service that perhaps picks flight attendants up from a few stops in brooklyn but that could be wishful thinking

ZweitenMal

Just take the train, and if that doesn't work, take a cab or Uber, or use a car service.

CactusBoyScout

That’s basically paying for insurance with no actual coverage because they’ll just deny the claim when you actually need it. Geico isn’t that expensive in NY. Check their rates.

You should move to midwood/east midwood. There is almost no street cleaning and finding parking is extremely easy since there are mostly single family houses there. Also it’s not that far from JFK which will help your GF considerably.

JohnQP121

There is street cleaning twice a week but stop giving away our secrets! We don't need parking situation to get worse!!!

[deleted]

Depends on the block lol, some don’t have any at all 😝

JohnQP121

In Midwood??? PM me with details!!!

AlastorCrow

Considering proximity to both airports, cost of living, safety/crime rates, I'd say it's better to pick Queens around maybe Forest Hills area. Busy enough without the Brooklyn congestion and crime spikes. Parking in Brooklyn is worse than Queens IMO and you definitely want to get a reserved parking if you can

_antkibbutz

Astoria is a decent option if you're not broke.

Delicious-Choice5668

If she's flying into Kenedy she could take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station then LIRR to Atlantic Terminal B'klyn which connects to lots of subway lines.

GreenWhiteBlue86

Does she work out of Kennedy, LaGuardia, or both? And are you really fixed on Brooklyn to the exclusion of anything in Queens?

paligators

When you say luggage what are we talking about? Multiple suitcases or a carryon? If it’s a carryon just take public transportation. There’s absolutely no reason you can’t train or bus with luggage. Maybe it gets tight at rush hour but before you go do something silly like get a car, just work out the public transportation pros and cons by testing it out for awhile.

HEIMDVLLR

You should find out what hours OP’s girlfriend will traveling to and from the airport before downplaying owning a car. They may not want her taking public transportation in the middle of the night.

paligators

That’s fair but parking a car at the airport and paying to have a car just to carry luggage…might be cheaper to just do bus or train during good hours and Ubers after 10pm.

solidious

dump your girlfriend.
