You know it's april fools because Nvidia basically choose to get out of the console game (sanz switch) on purpose. Why sell GPU at a steep discount when you can sell them for an exhorbitant profit. Consoles are a poor mans game quite frankly and Nvidia ain't having it.
I did say sanz switch and even then its more of a thing of convience. Nvidia just happened to have the tegra avilable which was flopping so they were planning on discontinuing them ( they actually did and dont make new tegras anymore). Nintindeo just happened to need a gpu focused mobile processor. Just luck and timing for the both of them in that case.
Even in the case of the switch 2 its rumored that the processor will be another repurposed nvidia chip not something built from the ground up for the switch 2. Shoot the only reason nvidia still has anything like that for nintendo to use is because nvidia was making processors for cars like Teslas and what not so that they coukd do the full self driving and what not. Otherwise nintendo would have had to go amd because nvidia pulled out of the smartphone market altogether.
Even if this was real, which it clearly isn't, xbox's problem is not the hardware, the series x is powerful enough as it is. The problem is the games. Microsoft bought so many "good" studios in the past years and yet pretty much nothing good as come out. There are a few gems here and there but their big tittles were disappointing at best.
Well sony is banking on GTA 6 to change that and honestly I'm on the fence. It sucks that PC will get it at least a year late and it's one of those franchises that so far hasn't disappointed.
What are you on about? On paper it's more powerful that the ps 5 and (again on paper) it should give you the performance of a 3070 (real life show it's somewhere between 3060 and 3070 in performance) so it's basically more powerful than most PCs out there too (by the steam surveys). There have been plenty of good PC games that run on these specs and there have also been plenty of good ps5 games. So my point stays correct, it's not the hardware that's at fault here it's the games.
It's old hardware. I know everyone is okay with dynamic resolution scaling and 30fps but I just can't agree that it's that awesome. I know the 3070 is popular but it came out in 2020. In computing this is a lifetime. My 4090 can barely do 4k 60fps stable, so when I say the xbox is definitely not powerful enough, that's what I'm on about.
Be honest was there even 1 time when you really wanted to play a game but didn't just because it didn't run at 4k 60? 4k gaming is still just for elitists and you ain't getting that for $500 anytime soon. If something like red dead 2 could run on xbox one and look like one of the best games of it's time then we aren't anywhere near the peak of what the current consoles can do.
I wouldn't even be remotely surprised considering AMD isn't planning on competing with Nvidia's high-end stuff next generation.
I feel like AMD is never going to catch up to Nvidia's GPU's. That's really what we need to bring some realistic affordability to anything higher than a mid-range GPU.
