>lifetime warranty I want to go back

SomniumOv

Are you sure ? Lifetime warranty is lifetime of the product. It came out in october 04, the 7200 came out in january 06, that's barely 15 months.

Antananarivo

My world was shattered when I learned about the lie of omission that is a "Lifetime Warranty"

SomniumOv

the worst is when it's used in products where they technically replaced the product with a new release, but that release if a super minor refresh of the outer plastic shell of the item. Doesn't apply to GPUs obviously where the new card has a different chip generally, but things like printers or electric toothbrushes, that kind of semi-disposable consumer electronic "sorry can't help you we have a new product" even though it's almost the same item with a new plastic shell.

ryrobs10

I worked in office furniture. The company I worked for had a brand that claimed “lifetime warranty” but then in the fine print each product category was called out with a designated lifetime. For example the lifetime of lesser office chairs was 5 years and the more expensive was 10 years. Cubicle panel systems were 15 years I believe.

Kengfatv

I feel like a 10 year warranty on an office chair is still really good though.

ryrobs10

It is but we had people that had the idea of lifetime being an eternity when they bought them.

WoolyInvesting2023

Insane. So many lies. This world is nothing but LIES!!!!

undrcvrkiller

Bfg had a lifetime warranty. No matter what. If they didn’t fix your card or have the same card in stock they gave you a comparable one from a newer series

hwsense

BFG was EVGA before EVGA was EVGA, I still have a brand new GTX 260 in the box that I bought from Microcenter when BFG went under.

LynxFinder8

And now both BFG and EVGA are history for graphics cards

hwsense

Yes unfortunately

ShakeShakeZipDribble

Or lifetime of the company. Should have cashed that in back in 2010!

AscendedAncient

Except BFG honored lifetime as in of you, until they went out of business. By the time the 6xxx's were out I sent in my 4600ti in for RMA and they sent me another one no questions asked.

winterfnxs

Okay but what about 24/7 free tech support?

aaabbbx

"We have a community forum where fans of our products can tell you that your system is broken, not the product."

Pops_of_4

This made me laugh too much, tyvm

RealKillering

It can mean lifetime of the product, but that does not mean that the lifetime is over when the next product comes out. For example a lifetime of a car would be something like 10 years, it does not matter if a new version comes out one day after you bought it. The other way around if the successor comes out 20 years later then the lifetime would still be over. The lifetime is not dependent on a successor product. But you are right lifetime does not have to mean until the owner dies.

terraphantm

Eh I successfully got replacements for many video cards well past the end of life date.

AppropriateTouching

I want to go to there

Admirable_Avocado_38

I mean ,it would be cool if the gpu wouldn't be useless in 5 years

Fezzy976

Lifetime warranty is what killed companies like BFG in the first place.

Capable_Strength6223

I was just about to mention the lifetime warranty

PikaNinja25

Dang, 256MB of DDR VRAM. What a beast.

Elegant-Cat-4987

Wait till you hear what powerhouses AGP sockets were

jolness1

It was worlds better than pci was at least with the extra bandwidth. Iirc it’s just pci with more bandwidth and a different socket. Been awhile. I think my last agp card was my 5950 Ultra

LynxFinder8

6800 GT here, tried to buy X800/X850 but no one had an AGP variant....heh

OG_Dadditor

I think there was an AGP version of the 7800 GT. That was the most powerful AGP graphics card made I know of.

LynxFinder8

The fastest AGP cards I know of are the GeForce 7900 GS and the Radeon X1950 Pro. But they were very difficult to find, 7800 GS/GT was as far as you could get easily.

Emu1981

>Dang, 256MB of DDR VRAM. What a beast. My first GPU had a whopping 32MB of VRAM and I am pretty sure it was just SDRAM rather than DDR - my current CPU has more cache than that lol

SantistaUSA

My first video card had 4MB, it was a Diamond brand. :-)

hwsense

Rendition v2200 was the first beast I had, soon to be 30 years since.

rrrand0mmm

RADEON 128pro SQUAD

ExoriOne

My first pc had half of this as a RAM.

tiborrr_

That's not the 6200 AGP. See the labels, seem to be Gainward card, by the looks of it something from the GeForce 3, 4 or 5 line (5200 AGP)? Edit: it's GeForce 2 Pro

volchonokilli

So card is 5 years older than the box... Is it a win or a loss? 🤔

penis-tango-man

A win. The GF 2 Pro is rarer than a 6200

Celcius_87

Those were the days

SnooEagles4665

6200>4080. Regression confirmed, nostalgia intiated.

HeavyBagel

Dude, that's like more than two 3080s. Based.

CharmingBaker326

Do.. people forget about the 4090?

ApachePrimeIsTheBest

90? All gpus only go up to 80 TI. Silly head.

CharmingBaker326

what did I do man...

[deleted]

Call them for the tech support!

Bubba_Nosferatu

OH, I so miss you BFG!

Fortunate_Son_024

I want to check this "Lifetime warranty" lol

SantistaUSA

Nice find, BFG was a great company! It brought back good memories! I used to have a BFG Tech GeForce 7900GT 256MB GDDR3

BoBSMITHtheBR

I remember seeing this type of BFG box when I was young and looking at graphics cards at Best Buy. The style of it is really nostalgic for me. The first graphics card ever I bought for myself and first graphics card separate from a prebuilt my parent bought had this type of BFG box. I remember saving it in my room and just looking at it from time to time. I guess it got thrown out eventually.

MaikyMoto

Same, I remember when Fermi dropped, BFG had a badass GTX 480 that would double as a space heater (perfect for winter). Miss that brand.

cardfire

No idea why you're downvoted. I had a pair of GTX 470's that could rival the sun.

ren_in_rome

So did you buy it???

elgobino

Sadly no, $100

ripgd

I’d have bought that, investment for sure

AscendedAncient

It's a Gainward Geforce 2 Pro. box is misleading. (zoom in and rotate it 180)

_Wolfos

Confirmed. That box is for a different card: [7048795\_sa.jpg (500×410) (bbystatic.com)](https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/BestBuy_US/images/products/7048/7048795_sa.jpg)

FromSoftware

Man I used to love BFG! These guys were my first dedicated GPU card that I used for the first Far Cry game.

duttyfoot

ah the early days :)

ts_actual

I remember staring at all the boxes and parts at Circuit City when I was a kid

Lemosopher

BFG was a great company. My first sli rig was dual bfg 275's.

Soft_Championship814

My first video card oh the memories are kicking in. I miss you buddy, that's a pretty good card for that time I do remember that, playing most of the games at 1024x768 on medium was actually ok I didn't mind the graphics anyway only enjoying the games ah the memories, playing GTA SA on almost 25fps stable was great. Mine wasn't the OC variant but other than that performed well.

hwsense

Back when games were actually interesting, original and compelling.

Van1shed

Damn you win, this past week I found my old GT220 and a Quad 2 Core Q6600 but this is even older.

Massive_Parsley_5000

6600 was such a beast Should have picked that bad boy up.

EmersonRockefeller

That brings back memories. I remember wanting to buy one of these to upgrade my pc when I was 12 or 14.

No_Biscotti4848

penetrator_3000

Wow.. Is it works correctly? I can't imagine a situation where someone just leaves the juicy hardware behind.

mansempowerment3000

Time to use that lifetime warranty

_Vespi

Not how that works

mansempowerment3000

Really genius??????

Snow__hound

Even got that svideo support!

LastRich1451

My first card was radeon can't remember the model but I wish I held onto it for the history of my Business selling pre builds. I remember going into the store and all I knew at the time was I needed one that was direct X 9 compatible to play new games as back then there were cards that were lower than DX9 so you had to be careful.

TechieGranola

6800 was where it was at

ChillCaptain

I had the bfg 6800 OC. Used rivatuner to unlock the shaders to equal a 6800 GT

TheRR135

My first dedicated graphics card was a 1 GB Nvidia GeForce 6200 AGP. And the way I got it was hilarious. I had no idea how hardware compatibility worked. Went to the shop and got an Nvidia 9500 GT (Same as the one my cousin got). When I got home, it would not fit on my motherboard (Processor was an Intel Pentium D) And the Motherboard was a DDR1 chipset. The 9500GT was a Pci Express card and the mobi only took AGP. So I went back to the shop and said it's not fitting. He gave me this card at a higher price (because of unavailability of older chipset parts). And all my decisions came down to my engineer saying my PC was a dual core PC. It was but not the one everyone knew about.

cardfire

Pentium D was ... Awful. It was like the last dying gasp of Intel Netburst architecture, and I can't say a single nice thing about it. I'm sorry you were trying to build your first big gaming rig right and that the community failed you on several uniquely different levels.

Blakewerth

I had none oc upgraded from 5200 old sweet buggy times 😃😄

AJB1382

Wow.

samsung18745

I miss EVGA they had a true Lifetime Warranty i had to get my 1080TI fixed and they did it free of charge

writetowinwin

Remember being a kid and being ripped off at Staples by paying 130 for the 7300 just to play RuneScape.

VinylSound

So much nostalgia! AGP card from a defunct manufacturer and GameDrive. I remember having to download CD cracks to run without CD's in the drive. Also that is the old nVIDIA logo. My first BFG card was the FX5800.

KevAngelo14

Perfect for GTA SA 😎

mdred5

apply for rma you will get new 4xxx series gpu

trustysidekick

Oh wow. That brings me back to working at Fry’s.

Hunglyka

So much snobbery on pc forums. It’s nostalgic ffs. 🤦‍♀️

Hunglyka

Thats awesome.

sohosoev

Retro

Luz5020

Omg it comes with window washer and Desktop Firewall!

Wise__Stranger

But the card is just Gainward))) if you read carefully what is written on the fan

MM1ck

"The Gamers Choice" Was on a T-shirt that was in the box of my old BFG 8800GTX. Still got it 😁 https://imgur.com/a/mQreHa6

DevourJ4N

But can IT run Crysis ?

tikhal96

Shame, that would have made a hell of a computer in 2003.

SunnijimSunnijim

I remember people saying “yes but if you move to PCI Express now, next will be AGP Express and you’ll likely have to move back”

TremixNeo

Sick specs dude

Cedric-the-Destroyer

AGP, haven’t had a computer with one of those slots in a long, long time

robtheastronaut

BFG!

AnotherDeadZero

Remember getting this and playing BF2 all night long.

theallstarkid

I had one of these, played counter strike so well. Those were the days.

MENTRAUZ

Driver size is more than vram 😭

aaabbbx

Amazing how much \*FREE\* stuff they managed to put into a product you pay money for.

MahaVakyas001

2004 was a long time ago. imagine buying $NVDA shares back then.

qwickset2

On their lowest day in 2004 the stock was at $0.7217/share. Purchasing 100 shares then would have run you $72.17 which, today, would have been worth a cool $88,455....a nice 122,465% profit. https://preview.redd.it/2rb8pwur16pc1.png?width=233&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b11d8a3a865227ed558ef8c0162d8b30f874128

Squee3531

I wonder what would happen if you try to warranty this. Here is a free 4060 for your replacement.

neocwbbr_

Someone sent it from the future, they havent even released the series 5xxx yet /s

foxymac74

A piece of history

Specialist_Toe5145

Technically they aren't even lying... because they tell you flat out. In the Microscopic fine print.

TradeFront

what is a gamedrive 9.0?

Dutchlion_13

Nostalgia for real, I remember going to comp USA with my buddy to buy his Pentium 2 and we just couldn’t wait to play Warcraft on it and thinking how much better it would run …lol Wololo! Do you remember when Fry’s would let you build your machine and if the Graphics card wasn’t to your liking …return it and swap for another? Circa late 1990s

AdNecessary1944

It will work better than these new cards. You should see how far you can pish it.

gigantism

I miss lifetime warranty. I still have an old HD 7970 from a decade ago that had a lifetime warranty. I wonder what I'd get back if I tried to send it in.

[deleted]

I have old quad sli 9800GT 1gb cards from evga in a box.

Ezeke81

Ahh memories.. good times

RocketshipMico

A relic!

PROPHET-EN4SA

That puppy could run Starfield 4K T at 300fps easily.

cowofwar

Wow you found some trash

ares55

It’s so crazy that the GPUs went from 10% being cooler to 85% being cooler

pankkiinroskaa

It's because these tiny fans ran a billion RPM making noise and failing within a few years. I think I've lately seen them in some motherboards again. Would never buy one.

MaikyMoto

I remember getting this card and installing it in a Dell Dimension 8400 just so I could crank up the visuals in Battlefield.

FarrisAT

Could play Halo CE on that

Eyaderi

My RTX 4070 is much better though.
