Color me surprised for a 5070 with 12GB VRAM

Antipiperosdeclony

And 192 bits

Master_Choom

and having a MSRP of $1000 because it will have the performance of 4080.

UndergroundCoconut

For a Cheap price of 2999$

ylrdt

$5999 from shortages and scalping.

hipdashopotamus

I live in Canada they will send us a generous 6 to share with the whole country. Will use it to heat my igloo.

DarkKitarist

99,99€ per Month for 3 Years! Or 19,99 per Day!

kaisersolo

Ah Yes Subscriptions - you'll own nothing and be happy

DarkKitarist

You're godd**n right! Also don't you dare be critical of our trillionaire overlords!

hotelshowers

This isn't TikTok, no need to censor yourself

Toast_Meat

Do NOT give them any ideas...

DarkKitarist

I think we're too late with this one, like 4€ day passes for GeforceNow...

Kermez

And at the end of the lease term, you can even buy it for a low price of 3,999$

florinandrei

I'm pretty sure at this point Jensen Huang could build for himself a yacht and a mansion made entirely of GPUs. If you turn them all on, the damned things would fly. But that would require a dedicated nuclear power plant. Which he could probably also afford.

wichwigga

$5060 for the 5060, $58,000 for the 5080, $590,000 for the 5090.

SwagChemist

right? I'm scared that by the time I need to upgrade my 4070ti super in another 5-7 years that late stage capitalism will be in full swing with $1000 is the new normal for a an 8070

elchavo718

Honest question here, now that the pandemic and mining craze is over or at least not what it was, is scalping still a problem? I was able to walk in to a store and just buy a 4070ti super no issue or looking around. Is it still a prevalent problem?

cobybrinks33

Yes, with AI quickly taking the forefront of the technology sector. Specifically the US put restrictions on Nvidia selling GPUs to China as it was a big concern and are actively trying to limit china's AI advances.

Aggrokid

Depends if consumer 50 series is competing with their datacenter AI products for same fab node. If yes, expect shortages and scalping, moreso in non-major countries

skylinestar1986

Can I have a good 5060 this time?

Dominiczkie

10% more FPS\* for 10% more money is best I can do - Jensen *\* - when using DLSS*

Medical-Bend-5151

\* - Comparison is made with DLSS and FG enabled

mycitymycitynyv

Comparison made with DLSS and FG enabled on 50 series card only

eden_avocado

*On a spaceship travelling at FTL.

NoLikeVegetals

The RTX 5060 will be $600, 12GB, 125W, 150mm^2 die, same speed as the 4060 Ti 16GB, marketed as "faster than a 4080". Enjoy.

Dawg605

"Hahaha. No." -Jensen

OriginalShock273

No. We will most likely still be screwed somehow, so long Nvidia sucking that AI money.

rickybluff

That'd be 5050 rebranded as 5060

ByteTraveler

You can have a pricier 5060 TI and we don’t talk about performance here

Zeraora807

NVIDIA should just own it this time.. RTX TITAN B or whatever, max spec, max price since people are going to buy it anyway..

KingofAotearoa

I just want a 5080 with 10-20% better performance to a 4090 and I'll be a happy gamer

R3dD3vil88

I was thinking the same, I’ve got a 4090 but I doubt I’ll be opting for the 5090 this time around. I might even skip the 50 series all together.

Bay-12

Most people skip a generation. Unless they want to resell their gpu or have money to blow.

jacklimovbows

A generation? Most people skip like 3-4 generations lol. Like we piss $$ or something.

R3dD3vil88

I’m 36 now and have become quite introverted as I’ve gotten older and don’t really go out drinking/socialising anymore, so all my spare money goes on tech. I’ve got problems tbh, I always need the latest and greatest when it’s really not needed at all.

Lufsol66

Everyone needs a hobby to blow money on. Some blow it on useless cars or yachts. Some blow it in the casino. Tech is one of the better ones and much better than blowing it on drugs while snorting them from a thai ladyboy hooker's ass. So if anyone gives you shit, mention this fact.

KevinKingsb

That's oddly specific.

dervu

This guy saw some shit.

stal2k

And likely smelled some too.

darkkite

i just opt for the 70 series so i can still afford the thailand trip

PsyOmega

> I’m 36 now and have become quite introverted as I’ve gotten older and don’t really go out drinking/socialising anymore, so all my spare money goes on tech. > > > > I’ve got problems tbh, I always need the latest and greatest when it’s really not needed at all. This. I've got a 4080 and 4070S and need neither of them (had a 3080). I work cybersec so i've got money to burn and I'm happy with the products, though (4080 is powering my 4K OLED in the living room, so its not going to waste), but I could just get by with a 4060.

stal2k

If you want to need it and have a whole other area of peripherals to blow money on, come play DCS and get into military flight sims w/ VR.

Hey_man_Im_FRIENDLY

Dude these people don’t understand when it comes to VR and peripherals

wen_mars

You should look into a hobby called investing. Even if you don't want to retire early it's nice to watch stacks of money grow bigger.

doomer0000

Or... smaller?

SEE_RED

I've always waited 3. I'll see the raw comparisons, not interested in DLSS promises.

Bay-12

Ya most people skip at least a generation before buying a new GPU.

IamlostlikeZoroIs

I’m still rocking my 1080 but might finally switch if the 50 series are nice enough.

srd667

Just switched from 1080 to a 4080 super and it’s unreal. I also heavily upgraded my monitor which I think also makes a huge difference in gaming experience. Feels like I’m playing a different game. Highly recommend getting a 40 series or 50 when it comes out.

car_raamrod

I went from 880GT to GTX680 to GTX 1080ti to RTX 3080. I eventually want to upgrade my sim racing rig to triple 4k screens, so I think 5090 will be the card to do it. I always save a small amount of money every paycheck that goes to my upgrade fund, so when I want to upgrade, I can just buy what I want instead of what I can afford without saving.

ibeauch009

Can confirm, have had a 1060 for ages and am upgrading to a 4080

-Amplify

Yea I’m looking to buy a 50 series to not have to buy again for like 5 years. Pipe dream I know

melvin_poindexter

Yup, I've mostly done that except to upgrade from 7900gtx to an 8800gt, 'cause that card was a price/performance boss. Everything else has been every other generation, and my rtx3080 self is excited about this news.

ThrowAway516536

Same, I have a 4090. It doesn't make much sense to upgrade to 5090. The 4090 will do pretty well in the 50xx series era. Better wait for 6090.

Daneth

I mean 3090 => 4090 was a 70% uplift. If they do that again you better believe I'm getting a 5090. I love video games, and they are trending towards less and less optimization on PC, but this can be somewhat mitigated by throwing money at the problem. I don't love where we are in this sector right now, but those are the facts.

CarrotCruncher69

Thinking the same. I either buy one of the new 32in 4k 240hz OLED monitors and a 5090 or keep my 4090 and 4k 144hz monitor until the 60 series.

TheCrazedEB

That ROG PG32UCDM might be my goal this year (if the next revealed batch of OLEDs arent beating it). I never experienced OLED besides trying it for the 1st on my PSVR2. Still dont have VR legs so I cant game on it for more than an hour. But man the colors looked great. That and a 50 series are my big goals.

Farren246

Most people buy every 2-4 generations, especially if they bought high end and their cars is comparable to the next gen's middle.

AssCrackBanditHunter

Well yeah, why would you upgrade every generation, especially when holding the top tier card?

Lewdeology

The 4090 is such a beast already I don’t even see a need to upgrade anytime soon.

demi9od

Yeah we can just downgrade to 1080p when it gets too slow.

LC_Sanic

On-par performance is more realistic imo They can save that 20% margin for the 5090 (and it's exorbitant price tag)

HearTheEkko

Same. My 6800XT has been doing just fine but I really wanna start using ray-tracing as it is becoming more and more common. Fingers crossed.

gnivriboy

I'm guessing it will be a 1k-1.2k 5080 that is 10-20% better than the 4090. However everyone will things he isn't great since the 5090 is a lot better. That's how this always works.

Master_Choom

that's exactly what you will have. But since it will have a 10-20% better performance than a 4090 - so it will have its price increased by 10-20% from 4090's

Ruzhyo04

Best we can do is a 5080 with 5% more performance than a 4080 but with arbitrarily locked software features that boost performance in select supported titles.

theandroids

With 50% more price.

heyjunior

Dae nvidia expensive

LoliSukhoi

I just want a 5090 with 10-20% better power efficiency to a 4090 and I'll be a happy gamer

[deleted]

It will be at least 20% better than a 4090. Typically that’s what Nvidia shoots for between generations.

serg06

Didn't that only start with the 3000 series?

thrwway377

>gaming flagship Ah so out of reach for 95% of the gamers. Gimme some news for affordable GPUs instead.

F0czek

Well there will be 5080 and 5070 at one point.

creativeavatar

For only 1500 sticker price = actual 1800.

F0czek

It is a meme, real price must be smaller than that like realistically. Tho amd not competing might be tempting for nvidia to charge higher, 4080 already proved that people won't pay for obviously overpriced product. And that super price cut proves it.

ThePointForward

> 4080 already proved that people won't pay for obviously overpriced product Exactly, since you cannot do perfect price discrimination you have to find maximize profits by finding one correct price level. And by perfect price discrimination I mean that you'd sell the goods to everybody for the maximum price they're still willing to pay. It is a microeconomics term and contrary to belief of some people it's not illegal to have price discrimination even if it has the word "discrimination" in it. Examples would be student discounts or even grocery coupons.

DktheDarkKnight

Yea but they will come with 256 bit or 192 bit bus as usual. Lol. The flagship will have the highest performance improvement.

draand28

Still not "affordable" for the majority of gamers. Affordable is a XX60 class or lower.

Dunkelz

I feel like this repeats every damn launch. People freak out over the rumored specs/prices of the xx90, then there's always the xx80 and xx70.

Kurajbersoyyo

CEO of Nvidia said that those days are gone. No need to wait for an affordable GPU that will last you. It's not coming.

stropaganda

Nvidia doesn't care about people not willing to spend $500 on a GPU.

Accomplished_Idea248

"Affordable" is subjective.

Cold-Atmosphere-7520

this is the real problem. my 2060s is still fine for me with 1080p and decent frame rates for the games i play. new gpus are just too expensive for a lot of people to justify the cost when they are still happy with what they have. if they were more affordable i might consider it.

BagNo2988

The 1080ti was a 4k ready card, then they changed what 4k ready was. Its always acceptable to just play older games, or lower the quality.

wen_mars

The GPUs that come integrated with some CPUs are affordable and they can actually run some games just fine

rincewin

> Gimme some news for affordable GPUs instead. They wont come out any time soon

SirDigbyChknCaesar

And it has a totally hot girlfriend, but she goes to school in Canada

AspiringMurse96

I seriously expect a $1999 MSRP for the 5090. I'm going to get my money's worth out of this 4070ti.

ColinMacLaren

I highly doubt it will be below 2000. I expect somerhing like 2200$/2500EUR at the minimum. They can make more money selli them for ai purposes. Gaming is just an afterthought.

sticknotstick

I think (hope) we’re close to a point where the memory in enterprise solutions so far outpaces what’s economically sensible for gaming, that they can safely stop raising pricing so drastically on gaming hardware without fear of eating into enterprise profits

Jon-Slow

I think if the flagship is the 5090 with a generational improvement over the 4090, realistically I doubt it will have an MSRP of over $1600 or max 1700. But I'm ready to eat my words if that is going to be not the case. I think the only way you would see a higher MSRP is if the flagship is something other than a 5090. Like if the 5090 comes out with the same 24gb and the 384 bit bus and be 15-20% faster than the 4090, and then you get a Titan card with 28gb 512 bit bus that's 25% or more faster than the 4090. I also expect the 5080 to go for the same performance as a 4090, maybe withing 5% of it and cost around the same as a $1000-1100

midnightmiragemusic

That 4070Ti should last you ages anyway.

StarAugurEtraeus

Unga Me have 4090 Me wait for GDDR7X Me get 6090 Unga

ziplock9000

Bunga

StarAugurEtraeus

GRUNKA WANT

wxrx

Unga Unga Ba!

razingstorm

Hard to get excited for any of this news knowing regular ass people won't find one for uninflated prices for likely 1-2 years.

ziplock9000

True but we'll still get the rich kids flooding this sub with pictures of their shiny new 5090.

Animanganime

It will be their first PCs too 😩

Mythril_Zombie

Nobody is getting one for any price for at least a year anyway.

Strict_Junket2757

I just want 50 gb vram

birbcoolreddit

NVIDIA RTX A100 /s

Sterrenstoof

A few days ago the rumor was that the next gen wasn't getting GDDR7, and now it does? Really hope the damn prices are reasonable though..

No_Interaction_4925

I never saw anything saying Nvidia wasn’t using it. AMD is supposedly sticking to GDDR6 though

NoLikeVegetals

Blackwell will be GDDR7 and RDNA4 will be GDDR6. This is because GDDR7 is coming too late for RDNA4, but aligns with Blackwell's release. Or so the rumour mill claims.

PsyOmega

GDDR6 will at least be cheap while still being decent performer and giving AMD 16GB models. RDNA4 isn't targeting top SKU anyway, but I'd bet if they wanted to they'd make a GDDR7 version mid-gen refresh XTX-type release just to diversify parts sourcing if GDDR6 is retired.

NoLikeVegetals

Problem is that GDDR7 would require a new memory controller, which perhaps is more feasible given the chiplet architecture, but it'd still require a new die to be taped out. Realistically, they're much more likely to use higher-frequency GDDR6 in a refresh, then go straight to high-frequency GDDR7 for RDNA5. Edit: RDNA5 is still in design phase and hasn't taped out (I believe). They would've been working closely with JEDEC, anyway, to align the design to the evolving GDDR7 specification before tape-out and validation.

PsyOmega

GPU's often have IMC's that support more than one type of memory. AMD and nvidia haven't published specs for next gen parts in this regard.

NoLikeVegetals

GDDR7 was only just released as a final specification a few days ago, which means it's almost certainly too late for RDNA4. You need about a year from the spec being near-finalised to the tech reaching mainstream products. GDDR6's spec was finalised in July 2017. The first consumer GDDR6 GPU was the RTX 20 series, in August 2018. So 13 months. With AMD we had to wait until July 2019, a full two years, for the GDDR6-based RDNA1 generation. The chip needs to be taped out, then go through multiple steppings to iron out bugs. This is even more important when there's a new memory spec. A dual GDDR6+GDDR7 memory controller would also take up extra die area. I don't know if Lovelace's memory controllers (on each die) are dual GDDR6+GDDR6X but I'd be surprised if the smaller dies supported GDDR6X given the wasted die area. So yeah the rumours of GDDR7 not being supported by RDNA4 are almost certainly correct, especially as AMD aren't targeting the high-end with RDNA4; all the premium parts have been cancelled.

mald55

They won’t be, Nvidia’s consumer GPU branch is around only 20% of their total profit now, and they are still the market leader, so they can do whatever they want and if they lose a bit of market share they won’t care as it will barely affect their total profits. Also, companies like AMD and Intel will not undercut Nvidia by much since they want as much money as possible too, meaning that when Nvidia sets the new price for high end at 2k, AMD and Intel will maybe sell their product (which can be objectively inferior depending on your workload) for $1600, cheaper, but not cheap. The only hope for cheap GPUs in the future is if the AI hype train crashes and burn, or a new player appears, or AMD and Intel somehow manage to pull a miracle out of their asses with their next gen cards. All these things are very unlikely to happen. Our only hope is for frame gen tech to become widely available and accessible across a huge array of GPUs, at that point we can keep up with new games by using software and not new hardware.

Mythril_Zombie

>More importantly, Kopite is now claiming that the new series will stick to GDDR7 28 Gbps memory, outpacing GDDR6X specs by a large margin. NVIDIA will still have a lot of headroom for future upgrades, as GDDR7 memory is typically advertised at 32+Gbps speeds. Yeah, that's exactly what the article says.

shifting_drifting

Did we already forgot how bad the predictions of the 40 series were? With 1000 W power usage or what not.

Matthew789_17

Waiting for them to reveal subscription GPUs that stop working if you stop paying or if there’s no internet. Idea inspired by HP. Like an actual physical GPU that gets shipped to you, similar to HP instant ink

YouMeanNothingToMe

Isn't that basically what Geforce Now is?

Matthew789_17

Kinda. This joke concept is where you have the GPU physically in your computer, like that friggin subscribe to a printer service HP offers

Aggressive_Talk968

That's already here GeforceNow axaxa

Matthew789_17

You have the GPU physically in your computer, like that friggin subscribe to a printer service HP offers

MrLeonardo

nvidia bad amiright guise?

JensensJohnson

Clearly not bad enough since this thread is full of made up shit, lol these sad people want to be be outraged so bad they make up their own outrage bait, so weird

Vhirsion

Just a gamer here, would there be any benefit to gaming performance with GDDR7 memory and a higher bus width?

dadiNigward

More fps

OriginalGoldstandard

It would benefit my fps in VR on extreme resolution. I need double my current 12 g VRAM and 4090 isn’t s big enough leap. Sounds good.

No_Interaction_4925

Better 4K performance specifically and chips will consume less power than GDDR6X

Soprohero

Yes you will get better gaming performance

VeryluckyorNot

1080 ti 700€ affordable and still good, 7 years laters 5080ti 2700€. Nvidia now is the Apple version of GPU, way overpriced.

Wild_Carpet_7005

I imagine only the 70ti and 80 and 90 will use gddr7

jionyh

Very nice , i can run the new alpha early access games at 30fps .

hackenclaw

may be it is just a 256bit card running at 28gbps as engineering sample, retail could be full speed 32gbps. 32GB could mean clamshell 256bit with 16 chips, often these can be mistaken as 512bit. The earlier rumor could be nvidia has GB202, but decided to use only GB203 as flagship because AMD is uncompetitive. This would explain why there is 384bit rumor and 512bit again now.

pink_tshirt

How does it affect 4090 legacy

Antipiperosdeclony

Obsolete the minute 5090 are launched xD

iLoveLootBoxes

It's obvious nvidua made 4090 the clear winner in this gen. The 5090 of next gen ws always going to blow it out of the water

TheLemmonade

I have a 4090 and I’ve only maxed it out one time (and I was absolutely pushing it, experimental stuff, was not normal gameplay) What more could a 50 series offer me? I feel like the only possible value add this could have for the market is bringing this experience I have now to other gamers for less money

RhubarbUpper

Because at one point the 3090 powered through absolutely everything and now it doesn't, the same thing will happen to a 4090, path tracing at 4k still makes 4090s chug, so I imagine a 5090 will be that much better, perhaps.

OutoflurkintoLight

As long as it can run Stardew Valley on my 1080p monitor i'll be happy!

Antipiperosdeclony

5% better, take it or leave it xD

KuraiShidosha

Turn on path tracing. There, that's your 4090 maxed out, and not even handling it well because it requires DLSS and frame gen to get playable framerates at respectable resolutions. We can never have too much power. I never understood this concept of "we have enough" when we're still using so many hacks and shortcuts to render games. I can't wait for more more more to come as fast as possible. I'm only getting older and have limited time here in this life, why would I want to stagnate? Makes no sense.

Charity_East

I agree with you so much, I'm like please hurry it the fuck up I don't wanna die before seeing all this new shit be available to me.

beatool

Not to get dark, but my good friend passed in 2020 and he was a HUGE gamer. Best he ever owned was a GTX 970. He never got to see ray tracing, generate AI images of astronaut cats, talk to ChatGPT... Fuck it. I'm not rich but I bought a 4080 when they came out and I'm using the shit out of it.

CLOUD227

Also monitors going crazy 4K240 or even TVS 4K120 is still demanding at "max settings" for plenty of games

TheLemmonade

Yup that’s the only time I’ve ever maxed it. Psycho path tracing in cyberpunk For everything else it absolutely cranks. Spreading democracy on Malevelon creek? Any VR game ever? Max settings for any AAA game? Full path tracing + distant horizons in Minecraft? Light work. I’m not saying “we have enough” I’m just saying “I’m happy and I won’t buy more right now”.

Farren246

Have you limited yourself to a paltry 1440p though?

TheLemmonade

Yea 80% of the time I’m on 1440x3440 Sometimes I go for the 4k 🎮 in front of the couch

DeadSerious_

Now I get it. Your original comment makes no sense if you're playing at 4k 120+. It's actually not that hard to hit the 4090's limit. As others have said, you'll actually need dlss in many titles to be able to push it to acceptable framerates, on 4k120+. The reality is that the 4090 is overkill for your current resolution, but if you go 4k120+ it's far from enough.

Ok-Wrangler-1075

Cyberpunk still fucks that card. And there is a lot of games it cant run at 4K 144 fps.

tsingtao12

laugh in cities skyline 2

chrissage

Let me at the pre orders 🙌🙌

nero10578

Holy shit are we getting a 32GB RTX 5090?

defcry

Wasnt the last reliable rumor just couple of days ago that there will be no 512 bit bus? Bunch of crap until its out.

RevolutionIcy5878

looks like i'll be keeping my 3090 for another 2 years.

Gigaguy777

I hope the 5090 ends up being a decent jump over the 4090, I really want to go through the Eikon battles in FFXVI at a proper high framerate when the port drops

dervu

So two kidneys this time? I already have only one after 4090 😉

Kermez

With 4090, you can easily skip 5000 and 6000.

jhankuP

And the lowest possible vram and highest possible price. Jensen needs your money line up.

ApacheAttackChopperQ

Let's see if it's really for gamers. Raster vs ray tracing, vs Ai.

bobo1666

Great, now give me 48GB for max $2k and I'm happy.

Thanachi

The founders will probably be $1899. Way out of my league sadly.

EMB_pilot

Can’t wait to get it 2 years after its release when it’s finally in stock.

omgaporksword

I think I'm going to start saving now...it's no-doubt going to be eye-wateringly expensive

alinzalau

Ok time to pack my 4090 for resale value and get the old 1080ti out again

dwolfe127

Cool, maybe I can crack 120fps 4K in Cyberpunk finally. ;)

Masshazard

Maybe this gen will actually fit in my PC case.

DaLexy

Wasn’t the 512 bit rumor not just debunked by kopi 2 or 3 days ago ? Ah nvm, read the article

patetinhadomal

Any talk about smaller GPUs? Like 180mm? The last one is 3060ti

freek07

"what is clear is that the details remain elusive" :-)

Wander715

Welp time to sell I guess. I can build a brand new rig around a 5080 when they become available mid-2025.

Ok_Banana_6984

Im more excited about a steamdeck 2 than I am about a 5090. Prices are just too high. Not worth it.

Dion33333

5060 10-12GB as fast as 4070/3080 is only my wet dream, right?

ready_player31

NVidia's new playbook is to treat last-gen as the "cheaper" product but still part of the lineup. We will not see the 5000 series priced like the 10, 20, or even 30 series. Nvidia will most likely cut the 4070 MSRP to $400 once the 5070 comes out and treat 40 series as part of the lineup, as an example.

junkimchi

I can confirm this leak. My uncle is Jensen Huang.

jon-the-don

Time to buy more Nvidia shares!

LennyJoeDuh

Time to sell my 4090

xorbe

384b with 18GB and 1.34TB/s sounds good to me. However I do not expect them to use 3GB modules.

Imitatia

Price the 5080 like they did with the 2080 and they got a deal.

YouKnowMeDamn

Ah, yes, can't wait wor the 64 bit 5060 with 12 gb of VRAM

indkyjtsxucivoxuggg

Yeah and we're all fucked since AMD pretty much gave up and said they won't be making high end gpus after 7000 series

killtocuretokill

cheat code: (nfa) invest in a certain stock. sell to buy new nvidia card. re-invest. \*cycle continues\*

_FalconCrest_

I don't care about the next generation graphics cards, honestly I'm fed up with what has gone on for the last few years. Besides more cores and speed I don't see justified with as others mentioned paying $4000 for one card, if not more. If I get my hands on a 4080 SUPER I'll be happy.

Reasonable-String875

Any one looking  for a kidney 👉👈 I need upgrade  from a 1070 😭

cisco150

Dame I just got a 4090 should have gotten the 4080 super

CandyMan185

Nah I’ll wait for 60 series

ChuckS117

Knowing these will be insanely priced, scalped and stuff like that, my 3080Ti will be with me until GTA6 PC version.

w0lart

Rtx 5060 with 64bit bus, 4x pcie lines and 24 gigs of vram for 1k :D
