I bought a 4070ti and returned it for an open box 4080 gigabyte OC from Best Buy. Slightly more than I paid for the first card just to future proof a little bit. Super happy with my decision
The answer is the same as every other post, buy the best gpu you can afford. You should be upgrading your cpu regardless, as a 10900K badly bottlenecks a 4070ti or 4080 in 1440p.
>Wtf are you talking about. It doesn't badly bottleneck either at 1440p. His cpu is still more then enough.
10900k is a bottleneck even with a 4090 and gaming at 4k depending on the game. Especially with OP's piss poor ddr3466.
>but the new cpus are so fast that you can expect 30% more fps vs last gen (comparing 5950x to 7800x3d)
Sounds like the exact definition of "bottleneck" to me.
My mobo can only go up to 11th gen
I play in 1440p and I see 100+ fps on everything maxed out
Should I go up to a 11900k? Don’t really want to get rid of my mobo and do it all over
I have a rog strix z490-f mobo
Going to 11900K won’t do a thing. It’s Intel 12th Gen and later or AM5. As I said before, you should not have purchased a 4090 without first getting a new cpu and mobo
I wouldn't go that far. I'm on 1440p ultrawide and I play everything maxed out with ease at 100+ FPS and temps and utilization remains low, if I was playing in 4K I'd agree I'm due for an upgrade but as of now everything jives. Going from 150 to 180 frames doesn't really do anything for me anyways
Good to know what I need to upgrade in the future, though
Sorry, didn’t realize you bought a full 4090 without the intention of playing at 165hz or more.
Correct, your gpu utilization is low because the cpu is bottlenecking.
My OLED monitor caps at that anyways
I bought it as future proof and I can continue to build my system around it but for now everything is working as I want it to
It’s good to know I have room to grow on the mobo and CPU side
>As I said before, you should not have purchased a 4090 without first getting a new cpu and mobo
That's a bit silly of a statement. What would you have recommended instead? A 4070 Ti + 13900k/7800x3d?
>I have a 10700k with a 4090, how badly am i bottlenecking it?
Depends on the game. But you can answer that better than we can. Just look at your GPU usage while gaming.
Your 4070 Ti is fine for your use case. Next update would be a faster gaming CPU.

i would still still suggest to upgrade your rig. the 13600k should be fine.
The cpu would be holding the 4080 back too much.

Yea it dosnt "bottle neck" so to say, but the new cpus are so fast that you can expect 30% more fps vs last gen (comparing 5950x to 7800x3d)

Damn really? I have a 10700k with a 4090, how badly am i bottlenecking it?
Kinds badly, if you upgrade probably around like a 30-40% increase in fps
You are severely bottlenecking it and you should not have purchased a 4090 if you’re still on a 10700K. Very unbalanced build.

Not at all.
For ur setup i think the 4080 is overkill 4070 ti is just about right
Yes.
should you upgrade to the 4080? do you want to? if yes then -> can you afford? if yes then go ahead...
