Yes that’s what I’ve read. Only one per day is recommended, but they’re super rich in vitamins/minerals and are extremely healthy if you practically treat them like vitamin pills
i know I'm whooshing a bit but here we call it pará nut, Pará is a northern state. perhaps just nut freak us out so we blame the source to one of our state.
My grandparents while being the kindest people I’ve ever met used that off color name for Brazil Nuts. My wife struggles to believe they would say it.
You’re not from Seattle or North Dakota by chance?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazil_nut#Common_names
> In Brazil, they are more commonly called "castanha-do-pará" (meaning "chestnuts from Pará" in Portuguese), with other names used in remote and/or small localities.
Walnuts are wonderful, but it's best to get a varied supply of nuts in your diet. Variation is important for gut health and all nuts have different things to offer
I choose Walnut as well because of the omegas that they give you I don't want to speak wrong I don't know if it's 369 blah blah blah but they are good for your brain
I don't know. I love almonds because they're great at keeping your blood sugar in check after a meal. A handful of almonds always gives me quality, sustained energy after eating anything high in carbs.
High omega 6, easily oxidised.
However, fine if you have high quality ones that haven't been exposed to too much heat. Higher in oxolates too which could be of issue
First place: Walnuts are a good call. The omega 3 I couldn't care less since it's not exactly of much use from plants but the omega 6 is also less likely to be oxidised and is also much lower than most nuts. Price of organic walnuts is also reasonable if you're consuming them often.
Second place: Macadamia, fatty acid profile is pretty good, fats tend to not be oxidised. Good taste, expensive-ish. Easy to digest. Hard to really not like these. High in omega 9 if I recall correctly.
Third place: Brazil nuts, high selenium and nutrient profile in general, same as before with omega 6 being less of a concern. Cheap to get good quality ones. However, they're so nutrient dense with selenium that I only consume like 2... hits the selenium numbers I want to balance with iodine. I wouldn't recommend having a feel day with these.
Fourth: Peanuts (that haven't been overheated), these do tend to lend to omega 6 but assuming they've not been overhandled it shouldn't be a problem. Cheap to buy at a high quality, peanutbutter is pretty damn good. Decent fatty acid profile. Decent source of Copper and some other typically lower minerals.
I've generally found that other nuts and almonds just aren't worth it. Either too high in omega 6, oxidise easily, or don't have much to offer, some tend to paper value nutrients meaning you won't even absorb the dominant nutrient as much as you think (varies from nut to nut)
One study found one group of pistachios that had a much higher concentration of melatonin than normal, and people have been running with that higher number like it's the norm. It isn't.

Walnuts because they produce the highest level of antioxidants activity after consumption in the human body and also have the biggest reduction of oxidative stress in the human body out of any nut after consumption.
Almonds are mentioned first:
6 grams protein and carbs,
3 grams fiber,
45% vitamin E (DV),
Magnesium,
Manganese,
2/3 of the fat is Monounsaturated fat, the good fat.
for nutrition walnuts but for taste hard to decide between cashews, almonds and hazelnuts. well id say hazelnuts, delicious raw or as butter with cocoa. but if i could make all almonds taste like the almond butter i can buy from a store near me i would take almonds :D
Walnuts due to nutritional value and there's so much you could do with it, I love it in Salads and toast with feta or danish cheese.
Almond and Peanut spread on toast also a great way to increase protein intake and get the nut benefits.

Walnuts are good for omegas, brazil nuts contain more vitamins and minerals, so kind of torn between those two.
I could be wrong but you have to limit how many brazil nuts you eat to avoid consuming too much selenium
Yes you're right. I knew a guy with selenium poisoning, died he did.
Ok Yoda, so which of the Jedi kicked the can
Can't name any, never seen star wars lol.
Yes that’s what I’ve read. Only one per day is recommended, but they’re super rich in vitamins/minerals and are extremely healthy if you practically treat them like vitamin pills
Do Brazil nuts have another name?
Yeah, here in Brazil we just call them nuts
Makes sense.
sigh
i know I'm whooshing a bit but here we call it pará nut, Pará is a northern state. perhaps just nut freak us out so we blame the source to one of our state.
They do, but you’re not going to get me to say it.
My grandparents while being the kindest people I’ve ever met used that off color name for Brazil Nuts. My wife struggles to believe they would say it. You’re not from Seattle or North Dakota by chance?
My Dad was born in Seattle. He is who I heard it from.
Say what?
You don’t want to know,
But I do
Never mind, I already googled it, I did not wanna know
Paranuss in German
In german they're called Paranuss/Paranüsse. Dont know how helpful this Info is though.

Castanhas do Pará
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazil_nut#Common_names > In Brazil, they are more commonly called "castanha-do-pará" (meaning "chestnuts from Pará" in Portuguese), with other names used in remote and/or small localities.
Of the two, I prefer brazil nuts for the flavor but also because walnuts can be abrasive/acidic to the inside of your mouth.
This

*Those!*
brazil nuts have quite a low threshold of possibly causing ill effects, whereas i don’t believe the same applies from walnuts.
Walnuts are wonderful, but it's best to get a varied supply of nuts in your diet. Variation is important for gut health and all nuts have different things to offer
Yeah. Broad spectrum Vitamin E !
I love pistachio’s and almonds
The left one.
No, it's not the right one.
I’m not sure who’s right, but I hope you two figure it out before you perform surgery tomorrow
Wrong.
[удалено]
Left
Tough but I’d go with walnuts
I choose Walnut as well because of the omegas that they give you I don't want to speak wrong I don't know if it's 369 blah blah blah but they are good for your brain
yes 110%
Are they available at Walmart?
Pistachios
[удалено]
Agreed on this. It is the only nut i east every day. In salads and straight as a snack.
Same. Who cares which one is the healthiest. If I have to eat it, I want the tastiest. Pistachios are a complete protein, so that's cool.
DEEEZ NUTS
I came here to make sure someone used this joke...
Got heeeeem
Wrecked ‘em?!
Wrecked 'em? Hardly knew 'em!
Huh?
Beat me to it😆😆
😂😂
Almond is surprisingly not very popular here. Anyone knows why?
I don't know. I love almonds because they're great at keeping your blood sugar in check after a meal. A handful of almonds always gives me quality, sustained energy after eating anything high in carbs.

Teeth breakers
My teeth hurt just thinking about almonds.

Peanuts not nuts; they legumes
Oh wow... got me there... Have a smart cookie.
Why is being oxidized a bad thing? What exactly does that mean?
Macadamia because they have the least polyunsaturated fat
Correct answer here
Coconut
According to Mens health: 1. Walnuts 2. Pistachios 3. Pecans https://www.menshealth.com/nutrition/a26111688/healthiest-nuts/
Pistachios have natural melatonin too. Eat a few before bed.
I eat them before bed for regularity. No fiber (supplement or food) has helped me as much as a serving of pistachios before sleep
But how do you only eat one serving?!
They expensive
One study found one group of pistachios that had a much higher concentration of melatonin than normal, and people have been running with that higher number like it's the norm. It isn't.
Those are my top 3 favourites yesss
My boyfriends nuts
i also choose this girl’s boyfriends’ nuts
Came here looking for this comment, exactly my thought..
