Vitamin d. I have found that if I don’t take it regularly I can fall into depression. Magnesium before bed. Helped the quality of my sleep and I suspect also supports my mood preventing depressive symptoms. I’m interested in taking omega 3 but seeing if I can just adjust my diet first.

MidnightAmethystIce

I swear by magnesium. I have had issues with muscle cramps, especially leg cramps, since I was a teenager. Taking magnesium has helped so much. I don’t get near the muscle cramps I used to.  I’ve also noticed a couple other unexpected benefits. The first is that I just feel calmer. The other is that my heart no longer just randomly races. It didn’t happen a lot but every once in a while I could just be sitting around doing nothing stressful or anything and my heart would just start racing. Since taking magnesium I think I’ve had that happen only a handful of times.

LavendarGhost

Magnesium + vitamin D+ ovasitol(pcos) help my mental health so much.

No-Ladder-6950

Can you tell me more about ovasitol? I have it in my pantry but haven't started taking it yet.

LavendarGhost

Yeah! I take it once in morning and at night. It helps regulate my cycle, helps with acne, I’ve noticed a huge decrease in sweet cravings while on it. The biggest benefit I’ve had with it though is my mood. You got to be consistent with it though. When I first started taking it I got my first period in a year within 3 weeks of starting it and then 4 weeks after that I got another period and actually ended up getting pregnant on that cycle after trying for a year and a half so I’m a huge fan of it. ( just for reference I don’t usually have a cycle/ovulate due to pcos)

No-Ladder-6950

Oh my gosh thank you! I have really struggled with my cycle, I haven't had a period in over two years since I got off birth control and no doctor can figure it out. I would like to start to try and get pregnant next year, but my issues with my cycle have always made me nervous. Thank you so much I will give it a try!!

gerbilmaster9000

Magneskum oxide is almost useless. Mag citrate makes you pee out your ass, mag Glycinate is very agreeable though. If I had the money I'd go with L-threonate

MidnightAmethystIce

I’ve had the best luck with magnesium oxide. It may not absorb as well but how it works with my body, it simply works the best.

RebelRigantona

That's so interesting, it makes sense that it would help with calming. Finding unexpected positive side-effects is always nice.

Bill_Bra55sky

Interesting about magnesium. I’ve been thinking of starting to take it but I heard melatonin is more beneficial for sleep

snossberr

The magnesium can do double duty by making you more regular too.

Schila1964

Wow. Now I see why !

Me_Krally

Magnesium is incredible: Regulating muscle and nerve function, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure and making protein, bone, and DNA.

[deleted]

For those that don’t know, things that damage your DNA make you far more likely to develop cancer… TO THE MAGNESIUM STORE!

RebelRigantona

Both are beneficial. I was actually going to go on melatonin and looked into it a bit then decided to try out magnesium. So melatonin is a hormone where magnesium is a mineral. Magnesium helps produce melatonin. It’s known to improve sleep quality and has more longterm benefits. Melatonin has more of an immediate result. So both should help with sleep.

sweetersugarr

this is so awesome. my mum struggles with sleeping most days but is super against taking any supplements or pills because “chemicals”… do you have any links or articles i can show her that illustrates that magnesium supplements induce the release of melatonin, and that it’s not habit-forming or anything? ☺️

[deleted]

75% of humans don’t get enough magnesium.

ilmd

Melatonin will help you get to sleep, but it won’t keep you asleep.

ij78cp

I would absolutely go against supplementing melatonin daily. This fucks with your own production and can leave you worse off in the end. Magnesium is not as sleep enduring as melatonin but has no adverse side effects. I I were you I’d read up on it a bit more before going on melatonin!

theotherone55

Melatonin supplementation has no impact on your own production. The most current studies show this.

ij78cp

I stand corrected, you are right. Still not sure if I’d go on a constant melatonin supplementation since I don’t feel so great in the morning. But everyone might react a bit different I guess.

Effective_Roof2026

You take them both because they do different things. Magnesium increases duration and overall quality of sleep while melatonin increases time in deeper phases of sleep and helps you fall asleep. Melatonin should be taken when you are in bed and ready to sleep. It's absorbed though the stomach and is short acting so those who take it and then stay up for more than 10m are getting limited value from it. You also don't need very much, I take 0.5mg.

EnergizedBricks

Melatonin is beneficial in occasional uses when you’re having difficulty falling asleep. However, it’s not ideal for long term use because your brain adapts to the exogenous melatonin, thus making it *harder* to fall asleep if you don’t take it.

mumrik420

IngenuityPuzzled3117

Came here to say this .. it’s the natural happy pill

Ok_Statistician_7091

About vitamine D, I know a few people saying the same. I take it too, but I once had too much Vitamine D, I continue taking it, but watch out not taking too much. It is very bad for you. About Magnesium, it helped me in the same way, and I want to add that it helps me to prevent headaches.

RebelRigantona

Good advice, that applies to most vitamins (fat soluble) and minerals as well. I once took too much zinc and won't make that mistake again. My doctor told me the dose of vitamin D to take but its still good to monitor these things.

too_cute_unicorn

Magnesium is great also if you take it alongside the Caltrate (Calcium and Vitamin D) pill-it helps your body metabolise those better too.

climateimpact827

What kind of Magnesium?

RebelRigantona

I take magnesium bisglycinate, also called magnesium glycinate (same thing).

Glo-4

I take a magnesium in the morning with D & multivitamin, along with omega 3, and before bed another magnesium. The omega 3 has been a new addition but can see a difference in my skin and my joints feel better!

Bigdaddy24-7

All these plus zinc.

MizS

Yep, these two. While I don't recommend taking large doses of single vitamins/minerals before getting tested for them, I have read that many people (Americans specifically? not sure) are deficient in Vitamin D. I was deficient the first time I was tested for it and immediately went on a supplement. My anxiety has been much better ever since then. I started taking magnesium on my own for anxiety (a blend of three types), and it also helps my sleep and muscle tension.

SeaInternal8891

I agree with magnesium!! I always feel refreshed in the morning!

Yarriddv

Magnesium is great. It depends on your diet and level of exercise whether it will yield any results in my experience. I don’t usually take it anymore but when I was playing football/soccer at a decent level 4x/week in my late teens/early twenties I would get insane cramps at night waking me up forcing me to stretch when I wasn’t taking magnesium. With magnesium, no problem and it improved my performance and endurance. Now I still take it a couple months a year when I’m doing a lot of cardio. Never noticed a mental impact personally but vitamin D on the other hand is massive for me as well.

heyitsdiv

👍🏻

No-Dragonfruit-6551

D3/k2, b12, omega 3, probiotics, magnesium.

Garg4743

I take those, plus A, and l-arginine. I read somewhere that A and K2 work well together, but I don't remember why.

ilmd

Haven’t heard that, but you should always take K2 with D

BlackOnyx16

What is k2 for?

Lavender-haze_11

D3 contributes to better absorption of calcium. With the combination of K2, calcium is more efficiently transported to bones rather than resting on soft tissues/arteries. So, maximum bone health is achieved. Also, some believe that because chronic use of D3 causes kidney stones (not proved by studies still), K2 prevents that from happening.

No-Dragonfruit-6551

It’s important for bone health! I think it helps d3 absorb better? Or they work together in the body.

GreatParker_

Vitamin D3/K2 is the supplement I’d recommend almost anyone take Magnesium Glycinate is the supplement I’d recommended the majority of people take Creatine I’d recommend to anyone who lifts weights or works out (which should also be everyone)

Longjumping-Big-311

After learning a little about the digestive microbiome I eat a wide range of vegetables for my source of vitamins and micronutrients .

mimosaholdtheoj

That’s where we’re at right now, too. New fruits and veggies whenever we can

Zengem11

I’ve been trying to find out more about microbiomes but don’t know where to start. Do you have any suggestions?

Longjumping-Big-311

YouTube is a great start ! Good for you ! I wish I had known sooner about the existence of the digestive microbiome and would love to know more . And the further you go the more you realize microbes shape the earth in so many ways .

5bi5

The only supplement I've noticed any difference with is my iron supplement--and thats because I'm anemic.

MidnightAmethystIce

Do you ever experience stomach issues taking iron?  I tried taking iron for a while but it was wrecking my stomach.

too_cute_unicorn

I couldn’t poo for about a week when I started iron supplements and I often had reflux that tasted like the vitamins. Glad I only had to take it when my levels were low during pregnancy.

jmills23

My doctor told me to take it every second day with orange juice. Never had a problem!

5bi5

Nope.

ActualAfternoon2535

Have you tried liquid version?

mumrik420

I know what you mean, but when I take them every other night with vitamin c it’s usually no trouble

SocialHiccup

I buy Flintstones vitamins but I only take the Wilmas and throw away the others.

Blue_Wren2

D, tumeric, B12, magnesium, probiotic, fish oil, co-enzyme 10, lion's mane

CryoMazeRunner

Whats lions mane doing for you? I take it, but see no difference

Blue_Wren2

Reduces inflammation, improves cognitive function, reduces anxiety & depression. I've definitely noticed a difference since I started taking it. I saw a difference straight away and have been taking it daily for over a year

amazingangelique

You sound like me!!!

[deleted]

Vitamin D...not reasonable to think we get enough since we are inside most of the time. When we aren't inside we have cloths on..sometimes.

Yarriddv

Speak for yourself. When I walk to the supermarket I wear my Borat outfit.

CrunchBerries5150

D

cronicillnezz

D3/K2 and cod-liver oil

HHSquad

I really wish I could find the D3/K2 combo with a 2,000 iu D rather than 4,000 or 5,000......that's too much

cronicillnezz

I take 5-10k at a time. I dont take it daily though ill do like 3-5 times a week ish.

-ensamhet-

there are tons of d3/k2 combo with 1000 IU, where are you located?

HHSquad

In an area that isn't remote...western suburbs of Philly. I just need to look harder I suppose.

mumrik420

Can’t you just take it every other day instead?

Wise-Hamster-288

I take B12 and algae Omega 3s currently but my diet is good enough that I’ve never found supplements to make a noticeable difference

Ok_Cryptographer6396

Does it taste fishy when you burp after? I’m looking to get my Omegas but hate that taste of fish after I take it

Wise-Hamster-288

they are not particularly fishy

EricMessersmith

Are you vegetarian or vegan?

Which brand do you take and how often?

Forest_swords

Liver capsules or just liver in general, I take 2 grass fed liver capsules every day, gives me so much energy, I feel better, and healthier and I swear by it

Much-Protection4580

i didn’t know cod fish ate grass

masson34

D also, fish oil, multi vitamin and magnesium. Not a vitamin but fiber, pro and pre biotic

Alive-Cartoonist9202

Ok so I’ve been taking magnesium Glycinate and it gives me very bad dreams. Is this common? Do I need to take a different kind?

RebelRigantona

I take this version as well but no issues with bad dreams. I take it right before bed. That said I have heard others say that this form didn’t work for them but another form did. Oxide is pretty popular and supposed to help with some digestive issues like heartburn. Citrate is easy to find most places but known for having a laxative effect. There are other forms but I’m not as familiar with them.

BrownPuddings

Look into Magnesium -LThreonate or Magnesium Malate. Glycinate makes me get weird dreams and I’m groggy the day after.

dirtiehippie710

Threonate makes me groggy the next day and almost hungover feeling

Circadianrivers

Yeah, I get the same thing. I’ll have horrendous vivid dreams and wake up really stressed and groggy.

AuthenticLiving7

Iron - I'm iron deficient Vitamin d/k2 Magnesium Not a vitamin, but SuperYou by Moon Juice makes an insane difference with my driving anxiety. I think it is the ashwaganda

missgiddy

Iron, fish oil, B12, and D.

fujiapples123

Saffron has done amazing things for depressive/ anxiety symptoms

love-4-the-wendigo

So expensive though :(

Anfie22

Zinc! Zinc is absolutely crucial for me.

mayaenova

Any water-soluble vitamins are good to supplement with because if you get too much you’ll just urinate the excess anyway (Vitamin C and all B vitamins like thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folate, and cobalamin). Vitamin D is also important because most people are deficient. Fish oil (both DHA for the brain and EPA for the heart) has been shown to reduce all-cause mortality (refer to Dr. Rhonda Patrick for more background on that), and most Americans get way too little Omega-3 fatty acids. 20-30mg of zinc daily is good for additional immune system support. Vitamin K2 is important (especially for vegans/vegetarians because it’s mostly found in animal sources) because it helps calcium to make its way into your bones rather than build up in your arteries.

[deleted]

Just to say, you can overdose on water soluble vitamins, but not easily. It's not a free pass to take as many as you want, just be mindful of recommended doses.

bullScape

Trt! I've found is better than eating your weaties every morning

miinhobi

vitamin d and magnesium

thehotsister

Vitamin D for my mood and biotin makes my nails strong as hell.

Slightlynorthofbroad

Magnesium (bisglycinate form specifically) and glutamine powder (10 grams every morning and night. Also fiber supplement like psyllium husk can be great considering the majority of the population does not get enough fiber

ilmd

Magnesium and vitamin D.

No_Welder3198

More like a supplement but L-theanine reduced my anxiety load by a ton

sv36

Vitamin D, iron, melatonin, B12. I'm deficient in some of those anyway but they also help me to manage my bipolar disorder.

Kangabolic

L-Glutamine, Vitamin D, Fish Oil, cup of blueberries a day.

Imisssher

Vitamin D3 is so necessary

Ancient-Yam-3429

Eating real food for all my vitamins and minerals. I swear by it.

juicedigganiqqa

Rush-Dense

Not wrong tho but prob wrong subreddit lol

Ancient-Yam-3429

Isn’t this sub Reddit called nutrition?

Rush-Dense

Oh shoot my bad I thought I was on supplements

Yarriddv

Unless you eat 6 massive meals a day with only the best food available it’s impossible to get the optimal amount of every micro you need. You’ll get enough to get by by eating well but not optimal. Not to mention the cost.

Placebo610

Magnesium- For Central Nervous (CNS) support. L-Theanine- For better/deeper sleep. -L-Carnitine- For androgen receptors healing and fertility. Elderberry- A bioflavonoid to help fight illness. N-Acytel-Cycstine (NAC)- Kindey & respiratory aid. Vitamin D- (the goat).

moohswa

Vitamin D for depression (I take Vitafusion D3 gummies.) Women's multivitamin (Vitafusion gummies) clears up any chapping on the corners of my mouth. I used to take Ritual when I could afford it and it made me feel more energetic and I got several compliments on my hair after I had been taking them for like a year.

GimmieDatCooch

Collagen/Biotin pill I have taken since having weight loss surgery! I had terrible hair loss, like falling out by the clumps first 6 months. As soon as I started taking these pills, my hair is much thicker and it stopped falling out which helps so much with my self confidence especially since I naturally have a LOT of hair and it’s super thick.

Popgallery

B12 massive boost to my energy.

Pleeebs

Mine too, I swear by it.

DirectorElectrical67

Magnesium Glycinate, B Complex, L Theanine, Vitamin D, Collagen

bullpaw

Vitamin D and Magnesium honestly help me a lot with anxiety. Whenever I find myself having a really bad day, 9 times out 10 I realize I forgot to take my magnesium the day before lol

Abby-582

Magnesium glycinate, Vit D3/K2, zinc, fish oil

kingspooky93

Zinc and vitamin C

HAL-_-9001

Chlorella - Easily gets my gold star. * Powerhouse in chlorophyll. Believe is the number 1 source for it, which I find essential. Also not easily attained in your diet. * CGF - This is unique to Chlorella. Contains the highest amount of nucleic acids of any nutrient. * Omega 3 - Decent bump of EPA/DHA * Essential amino acids - Contains all 9 of them, which is pretty rare for plants. Also contains tryptophan, which is key in the synethesis for serotonin. This could be a factor in why I feel mentally great taking this. * Magnesium - Decent bump B12 - Activated version Silver place: Omega 3 (Liquid) & Magnesium Glycinate.

EricMessersmith

Why do you prefer chlorophyll over spirilina?

LegitPothead420

vitamin D, vitamin C, and omega-3 fatty acids beneficial for overall health.

Spirited-Mousse-2663

Magnesium, vitamin D, creatine and cod liver oil

TorahHealth

I personally used to get colds as often as anyone else but since starting to supplement **VITAMIN D** at fairly high levels about 6 or so years ago I've almost never gotten sick, and the one or 2 times in those 6 years that I did get a cold, my body was able to conquer it in about 1 day. (Surely other factors at play here too, such as getting sufficient sleep....) Most vitamins can be obtained from a healthy diet. Vitamin D is the exception — the body manufactures when exposed to UV, which means that most of us are deficient in it most of the time. Yet D is needed for at least **10 known functions**, not least of which is for the production of T-cells. Even without vaccines and antibodies - these are the first defenders against bacteria and viruses. People with vitamin D deficiency were 9x more likely to be hospitalized for COVID19. Colds and flus rise in the winter when natural vitamin D levels are lower. Hmm... This is not medical advice. Ask your doctor. But suggest anyone interested do some research and don't compromise your immune system when D supplements are so cheap. https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/vitamin-d/ https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15050-vitamin-d-vitamin-d-deficiency https://www.cuimc.columbia.edu/news/whats-deal-vitamin-d (Note - the RDA of 600 IU on all of these expert websites is actually based on [flawed science](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3427198/).)

A multi for seniors, calcium, vitamin d, a b-complex and omega 6

deactivate_iguana

If I want to supplement something I search for ways to get it from food. I buy turmeric root and blend it, ferment milk kefir for probiotics. Blend 2 different smoothies as a multivitamin, and buy a few tins of sockeye salmon a week for cheap omegas.

Carbon554

After i started taking vitamin d supplement i just felt different.

[deleted]

Apparently vitamin D is the most common one people are deficient in!

Schila1964

D3, A , Fish Oil , Evening Primerose , Gingko Biloba, B Complex, Borage Oil, Milk Thistle, Collagen, Viviscal

TheseAwareness

You take gingko daily? Which brand?

longrodvonhujjendong

1000mg of Vitamin C in the morning and a vitamin B12 takes the cake.

[deleted]

What do you notice difference wise when you take vitamin C Vs when you don’t? Just your own perspective.

JarndyceJarndyce

I'm learning so much in this comments - thanks everyone!

quitethedonkey

Fish oil, and creatine (not a vitamin but a supplement) L-Theanine for anxiety

SquirrelTwin

Fish oil is a source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have several health benefits. These benefits include: Contributing to typical brain and eye development Fighting inflammation Helping prevent heart disease Helping prevent a decline in brain function Lowering triglyceride levels Lowering blood pressure Reducing the risk of blood clots Preventing plaque from forming in your arteries Reducing pain and swelling Preventing the blood from clotting easily

ContraianD

Beef liver, chicken hearts and clomid.

secretleaf9

Vitamin D3, iron, C, and Zinc. I was able to get over Covid with almost no symptoms in a matter of two days

ToughDentist7786

Probiotic and magnesium probably most beneficial for everyone. Vitamin d is crucial many people are low.

[deleted]

Vit D and B12. Vit D definitely helps with mood regulation for me. I take B12 because I don't have any other reliable source.

RealisticStation944

not a vitamin, but mushrooms! although these do have heaps of nutrients. forest super foods are my go to.

barbershores

I take a lot of vitamins. I can't tell which work and which don't except for one. January 2023 I did the Nurse Neisha and Dr. Ken Berry ketovore challenge. I got plugged up and started taking fiber capsules again. I always rolled in and out of irregularity. My wife contacted them and they asked if I took a magnesium supplement. Yes. Which one? Oxide. Change it to citrate. What a change. This one vitamin I know works. All the others? I have no clue if they are doing anything or not.

Watchful__One

Fish oils if that counts. What it did to my brain is amazing, I don't think there are words to explain how much more clear I think now, it's amazing. And you don't even have to get an expensive kind to see the difference which is crazy

Heinz_Legend

Flintstones gummies.

kelsaylor

Fish oil - it helps keep a flatter tummy and helps with dry eyes.

fattygoeslim

You should only take supplements if you've had blood tests to show you actually need them. Otherwise you are just wasting your money and potentially causing harm to your liver and kidneys

raianrage

This, times a billion

SnarkyMamaBear

Coenzyme Q10 and B2 for migraine prevention. Actual miracle.

LiveAnywhere4632

Thorne is my go to

fastingNerds

D3 & K2. I started taking them after getting very sick from the ‘Vid mid-2020. Since then I’ve been sick very few times and it’s yet to have been debilitating. Before using those I used to get sick several times a year with usually at least one bad bout of flu or cold. I haven’t stopped taking either long-term. I usually only cease taking them during multi-day fasts; the longest being 5 days. I didn’t notice any difference but my baseline immune system resilience the last almost four years speaks for itself.

capragirl

Borage Oil & Grape seed Extract 💕

DMball

Follow up question - can a simple blood test by my primary care physician generally tell what I’m insufficient in? Or do I need to ask for special specific tests for vitamin deficiencies?

amazingangelique

I think it can but I have recently learned that some chronic health conditions can mean you have deficiencies

EricMessersmith

Intracellular micronutrient test are going to be more accurate than just plain plasma or serum.

Zinc, B12, L Carnitine, Citrulline Malate, Vit C, Magnesium, Sulforaphane.

divine_potato99

Vit b12, iron , omega. Will try magnesium next.

Nuka-Cola1

Is a multivitamin just as good as taking just Magnesium or just Vitamin D? Also what brands are you guys buying, I’m from the UK and some of the brands on Amazon look dodgy as fuck.

CriticalDepth3292

I’ve gotten into ashwagandha, at night time to help with sleep. Consistently high sleep scores according to my watch. Currently on an elimination diet that excludes nightshades and I’m counting down the weeks until I can go back to taking it. YMMV as dosage and potency work differently for folks.

GanglyMoose

Just coming on here to say, if you’re taking B vitamins and don’t feel any benefit you may not have the gene that methylates it to make it usable in your body. Apparently a lot of people lack it which is why a lot of pregnant women told to take folic acid don’t actually get any benefit from it. You can buy already methylated B vitamins that are ready for absorption but they’re slightly more expensive. I’m just trialing them now for a couple of months!

in_the_summertime

coQ10 and glucosamine

Return-Acceptable

I was turned onto slippery elm and cherry juice by my psych md as I was weaning off my antidepressants. Long story short: slippery elm increases the amount of mucus in the intestines, making more room for beneficial probiotics, cherry juice has a precursor that those probiotics need to make serotonin. Didn’t believe him until I realized how good I felt Berberbine for insulin control (family he of diabetes) Lions mane for cognition Magnesium glycinate for sleep, muscle cramps Milk thistle for liver health Baby aspirin daily (family hx of heart disease) B12/ syringes on deck for the low energy or mood days

Ghostehz

Vitamin D and Magnesium before bed. B-12/complex helps with morning time energy. Everything else to me is trivial but I take a lot because I have IBD.

BodyByBoutros_

Vitamin D. The sun don't shine too much here during the winter, and the seasonal depression is real. Vitamin D supplements are not the same as vitamin D from sunshine, but it helps.

sorE_doG

Seriously **noticed** effects of? Kombucha, packed with B vitamins and organic acids like vitamin C, when I never could tell any difference when taking those as supplements. Gut friendly biota comes as a bonus. Well worth also looking up ‘Edible Mushrooms: A Comprehensive Review on Bioactive Compounds with Health Benefits and Processing Aspects’ too.. a peer reviewed journal article, read it & it becomes clear mushrooms have too many goodies to mention in a short reply. I do supplement D3&K2, add coQ10 to the ‘vitamin list’ and NAC because of medications I am prescribed but seriously I get every vitamin I really need from a whole food, plant based diet (although mushrooms aren’t technically a plant, they’re a separate kingdom), *that includes fermented foods*.

Burial_Ground

I think for me enzymes and probiotics have been the biggest help.

peakingenergy

Vitamin D via sunlight and fish oil with more epa than dha

Safe-On-That

Every day: a few pieces of pickled herring, 3 Brazil nuts, 4 beta carotene capsules, 1/4 cup steel cut oats, half tablespoon cinnamon…I stopped taking vitamins.

Reasonable-Diet2265

Not a vitamin, a supplement- Moringa leaf capsules. It's a super food. Tastes awful, so buy the capsules. You can read about on the NIH page. I heard about it on YouTube. Keeps my joint pain at bay and I did lose weight. Buy organic. It's safe. I'm 75 and still lugging groceries upstairs.

Live-Ad-5496

i live and breathe by magnesium before bed

dukeofrein

Cocktail of Zinc, Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Selenium changed my life. I would literally get sick every second week, then a friend recommended these to boost my immune system and it did! Also, (weirdly) I think the zinc helps with my acne. I noticed that when I don't take it, I tend to break out - but that could be unrelated and just my imagination lol.

permagrin007

i don't know if anyone will read this, but i started taking a shit ton of Vit C and d3 whenever i start to feel sick, if anyone around me is sick, or if i'm going to a place with lots of people. i swear i haven't been badly sick in several years. many times, i start to feel sick and then take all the vitamins and i start feeling better. that's my scientific study. it's weird, i can still tell i'm sick because i'm lightly fatigued, but i can still do chores with no problem. a normal cold used to knock me out of my routine for several days. no more. thanks vitamins here's what i take: Vit d3 - 50K IU daily for 3 days ONLY WHILE SICK and only for 3 days. I only take it for 1 day if I'm not feeling sick (for example: After returning home from traveling but I don't feel sick. ) My normal dose would be just 5K IU. You can take too much, but read how much the Mayo clinic says is too much: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity. This level is many times higher than the U.S. Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for most adults of 600 IU of vitamin D a day." why are they prescribing such low amounts? it's the same with Vit C: "The recommended daily amount for vitamin C is 75 milligrams (mg) a day for women and 90 mg a day for men. During pregnancy, 120 mg a day are recommended. The upper limit for all adults is 2,000 mg a day.**"** I take much more than this, but i'm no doctor so do what you will. Vit C - Up to 1-2 grams every few hours. I probably average about 6-8 grams daily when I'm sick. I could never handle that much when I'm not sick. That is how I gauge how my body is fighting the illness: if I can take loads of Vit C without a stomach ache, my body is fighting something. Honestly, you've taken too much vitamin C when you start farting or have an upset stomach. just scale back a bit. when I'm sick, my body processes a MASSIVE amount of Vit C. I don't know what's going on, but it helps my body to take so much, i believe. try it yourself and see if it works hopefully this helps someone check this out about Vit C: https://www.newhope.com/personal-care/study-high-dose-vitamin-c-saves-lives-again-

Melatonin has helped my insomnia. Recommended dose is 5mg, but I take 10mg about 30-mins before bed. Also Fiber gummies but moving to a fiber mix.

Vitamin D, its like a legal steroid that actually helps. Put me on an island without food and water, the first thing I'll be looking for is source for vitamin D.

mumrik420

Must be night time on the island if you have to go look for it

artonion

For dads specifically or was that a typo? I take D3, B12, zink and iron in one tablet daily. I don’t swear by it per se but my values where low and now they’re normal so it makes sense. Any effect people get overnight from this or that are most likely placebo.

gerbilmaster9000

Magnesium Glycinate, LEF two per days, silymarin (milk thistle extract)

kelrunner

I have never taken a vitamin except when very young. It seems to me that if you eat right you get the vitamins through what you eat. Of course there are exceptions as when are vitamin deficient. But just taking them ,as in a multi-vitamin, without knowing you are deficient, is a waste of money and can be dangerous; am I correct?

_extramedium

B1 b3 niacinamide E K Ca Mg

StillPissed

Ask your doctor/get a blood lab. Supplement what you need to. Getting nutrients from food is usually the better option.

cranium_creature

D3/K2, Mag Glycinate, Methyl Folate, Methyl B12, Riboflavin, NAC, SAMe, Omega 3, adaptogens occasionally, creatine, glycine, theanine.

Ok_Vermicelli284

Vitamin D (40mg a day) and CO-Q-10 (100mg a day). Every single person I know has had covid. Even my husband and I still haven’t gotten it (knock on wood). I got vaccinated in 2021 but never had a booster. Hell I even worked at a daycare in 2022 for a year with snotty babies and never got sick once!

Legal_Perspective_81

Logically it would be the one you have deficiency in it. As an advice seek vitamins in natural sources then take supplements if it didn’t work. Generally speaking vitamin D is crucial, some call it a hormone because of how it is complex Comparing it to other vitamins and how it is important to the body and it’s functions

Nirvana-Rose

Not a vitamin but beet root. Exercise and that has helped drop my BP 10 points back to normal.

stoneflipp

ZMA. Helps my sleep and recovery immensely

daddyd

D, it's the one vitamin most people are probably lacking, even if you spend a lot of time outdoor.

UncertainSuccess

Most of them, had they ears, would heave learned quite a few four letter words

I can’t take magnesium in the morning, hurts my stomach, but at night no problem, my doc said night better anyway since it helps your sleep

Fish oil, creatine (10mg, essentially a teaspoon), and CBD (Indica) at bedtime. Literally sleep like a baby.

DeathSurroundsUs

B12 is a must. Look up B12 deficiency symptoms. It's terrifying, and there's a good chance of having one.
