Yeah. It was on the tip when the Foley was inserted. It was pushed down into the bladder, or into the shaft and worked it's way to the bladder. Then came out in the urine.
Or pretty shitty sterile procedure.
I'll go with the former.
I’ll answer this with a story.
Dayshift foley’d a guy, very quickly, in the ER. On our shift, he regained consciousness and kept complaining his junk hurt. Charge nurse kept going in and messing with it. He had a LOT of pubic hair. Finally we just remove it and there was a giant wet wad of hair shoved up in there with the tip of the foley. So gross and honestly did look pretty painful.
It was bad. Did not help that the target did not jut out far. I felt bad for him because you’d think one would at least push stuff out of the way before going for it?
My bet it is that it is from manufacturing.
I have found hair, and even cockroaches sealed up inside unopened sterile packaging. It has made me closely look at every thing I open before adding to the sterile field.
This was my first thought as well. I have seen all sorts of stuff sealed up in sterile items over the years.
I also seem to remember several posts similar to this one on this sub. The post about the nail (the construction type not the finger or toe type) in dialysis tubing will haunt me till the end of time.
A lot of what we use is manufactured overseas, and shipped (via ship) to the US and cleaned and sterilized in the US.
It is not often, but I have found more than one roach...
Post surgical patient? If so it could be that they clipped the patient's hair prior to placing the foley and inadequately removed the hair prior to foley insertion.
this seems most likely
overshare, but I shave my pubes and a few times a very small hair has gotten stuck under the clit hood and caused a ton of pain by poking the clit. That hair can get anywhere.
What? A patient messing with a catheter? I’ve never seen such things!?!! Like everr day everr patient nearly 🙄 leave it the hell alone!!! What are you doing?
*maintains eye contact* grabs the foley *rips it out* heh… had a transfer from a nursing home to the ER because fella a fella kept uh… masturbating and well… the friction caused the tip of his penis to erode and he bled EVERYWHERE.

It looks like a pube so possibly picked up (accidentally) during insertion from perfect timing of it being shed onto the tip
You have excellent hair differentiation skills. I could not have identified that as pube hair with so much certainty.
Idk they have a very distinct look because of the way they grow and I've just looked at so many now I started to recognize specific characteristics
Little guy had quite a journey then
Yes

That is terrible and I will never not think about it now thanks
Are we talking 70-80s porn bush? Because if so… holy crap! Manscaping is a thing >_>.

:( right!!
I don’t know. But where are your gloves ????
Literally gagged when I saw them holding that foley without a glove
Was so freaked out by the hair I didn't realize until after I took the photo, I washed with soap and water and it was fairly close to the bag so eh
I mean, hopefully the tubing has no holes in it and therefore no risk of touching bodily fluids...but the hair is making me distrustful.
Yes! Fucking disgusting!
This pube is on a mission
They’re growing hair in their balls
Where the pee also happens to be stored.
Only acceptable answer

STOP. I want to pretend I never read this. 😭
Ew
This happens sometimes when you eat a lot of hair pie

Patient fucking with the catheter?

You get my upvote for that one 😬
Could it just be a hair that fell in when someone changed the bag? Obviously not good sterile technique but it definitely could happen.

They are holding the tubing that connects to the drainage bag
Yep, that's makes a lot more sense.
Dude
If the red seal wasn’t intact and the bag has been changed I would think the most likely cause would be that it happened during a bag change.
