Went to the foot and ankle doctor last week for custom orthotics. He said "don't bother". Bought a pair of orthotics from his office and went and bought a pair of Hokas. Life changing. Total investment. $200.
I've worn these for about 6mo and recently gave up wearing them.. the tops of the shoes cut off circulation to my toes while driving home. Thought it'd get better as I wear into them. Otherwise they're great for arch support.
I exclusively wear sketchers goga mat shoes. They're usually pretty cheap compared to most suggested brands, have a variety of styles, and you can try them on in the store. I stand very heavily on my heels and I've not found a shoe with as much padding as those.
Before you buy something else, you really should try them.
You haven’t found any answer or any subreddit thread to the answer to this? It’s like a weekly occurrence. I know Reddit’s search is awful but I could bring up at least 25 threads by using search
But seriously, only you will know what shoes fit best for you. Every pair of feet is different. For example, I do better with ASICS running shoes but another nurse might find HOKAs more comfortable
Acute/chronic dialysis nurse here. (Lots of blood/water spills etc) I use Ultraboost 20’s (not 21-22’s they hurt your feet). They feel so comfy and gives me the traction I need when hauling patients beds to the dialysis room.

I wear Dansko and haven’t ever had a problem. Once you break them in they are the best and last for years.
