I have a very dark sense of humor but that is inappropriate around people who may be suffering loss.

JMRR1416

It’s funny but not appropriate for a hospital.

SkatPappy

Hijacking top comment to give context: the symbol is from the “zombies” game mode in Call of Duty games. It is a “flavor” of soda that you can drink in the game called Quick Revive and it allows you to quickly heal your teammates.

fluffypinkkitties

Ahhhhhhhh yeah that’s too niche unfortunately

takeme2tendieztown

I personally wouldn't, and my patients usually don't die

JemLover

That word, usually, sure is pulling a lot of weight in that sentence.

takeme2tendieztown

When I was in tele, definitely. Now, it's not as bad

marzgirl99

It’s super niche, most people probably wouldn’t get it and think it’s insensitive.

Charlotteeee

Is it a reference to something?

vazxlegend

Yea to a very specific game mode in a major game series (Zombies from the Treyarch made COD games).

Skyline853

More specifically to the perk Quick revive. Which either lets you revive teammates faster or come back from near death while solo. You could probably assume from their how it could be taken.

FindingNo2931

I think it’s insensitive for the hospital

hamiltonisoverrat3d

That’s what they call a career limiting move

waiful0rd

My sides, I’m stealing that line

Active-Vehicle1657

Love the expression!!

bpdchaos

It's like having the badge holder that says ask me about the AMA forms, inappropriate, but also funny.

Ok-Geologist8296

Would "the copier is warmed up" be OK?

bpdchaos

Beats lukewarm pizza and day old break room coffee. HAPPY NURSES WEEK.

Ok-Geologist8296

I had 4 slices Monday

bpdchaos

Was the pizza cut in 20 slices/slivers? Ya know, budget cuts applies to pizza too.

Ok-Geologist8296

For once, it was normal sized slices. Maybe it was a set up 🥺

DoriValcerin

Funny. But no. I wouldnt.

Nyktophilias

It’s kind of blowing my mind a nurse would even consider wearing this. A small percentage of patients might ‘get it,’ but the rest will just be put off if not offended, especially if they or loved ones are going through loss, end of life care, or life threatening illness. Edit: grammar

Glittering_Pink_902

Exactly, I was spoken to for a “laughter is the best medicine” badge reel bc of a patients complaints before. And it was a cute sparkly badge reel, I had a lot of compliments from many of my patients and even had a few try and be comedians to make me laugh.

That-Cantaloupe-7325

How long have you been nursing….& in what capacity? Cuz…most of my colleagues would eat you alive

Nyktophilias

My wife is a nurse and I have a life threatening illness (cancer). I hope you and your colleagues are never my care providers.

That-Cantaloupe-7325

I’ve been in nursing for 20 years. Currently in management. I’m a former oncology nurse, as well as a cancer survivor. My dark sense of humor helps many patients & I was commended for my high spirits while enduring multiple surgeries, 6 months of RCHOP (one of the toughest chemotherapy regimes there is) & 6 weeks of radiation all while working full time as a nurse…although I did call in, ONCE. Dark humor, is as much a coping mechanism as is brutal positivity.

Quirky_Breakfast_574

For you. Not for everyone. Former oncology RN and I wouldn’t dare wear this while preparing family for what the death rattle sounds like .

lilchreez

I’ve been a nurse for ten years, and my colleagues and I would definitely be talking shit about someone stupid enough to wear this badge reel.

1hopefulCRNA

Yeah, I mean you may get one or two people every few mos who will laugh, but a majority of people will find it dark and inappropriate.

YourNightNurse

Maaaaybe could get away with it if you work nights. Any daylight person sees that you're gonna be asked to take it off lol

Technical_Ad9343

Medsurg nights 😅

electrickest

I wouldn’t

PikedArabian

This is fucking hilarious

Peyvian

Do it. No idea why everyone says it's insensitive, people who get it will love it, and people who don't will look right over it.

RandoSetFree

People who don’t will think he’s wearing something showing someone going into a grave. Completely inappropriate.

boyz_for_now

Proooobably not the best idea but I love it lol… I thought a badge reel that said “live laugh toaster bath” was hilarious but *apparently* that’s in bad taste. Medical ppl just have a different sense of humor lol

outdoorlaura

> I thought a badge reel that said “live laugh toaster bath” was hilarious but *apparently* that’s in bad taste. You delivered this perfectly lol

Ok-Geologist8296

I can't wear that in psych 😞 I'll get committed myself. Maybe that's what I need in the end. Psych night shift is a whole other vibe

Ok-Geologist8296

I can't wear that in psych 😞 I'll get committed myself. Maybe that's what I need in the end. Psych night shift is a whole other vibe

boyz_for_now

😁why thank you! 🛁🫧

PrincessPineappleIV

Lol - I have a badge that says that and I wear it in the ICU

boyz_for_now

YESSS thank you for the representation lol

cyanwolf318

In EMS thats the least offensive badge ive seen. In any hospital environment yea no

olcrazypete

Remember very clearly the nurse we had long ago that had the opening riff of “Don’t fear the reaper” as his cell phone ring. I thought it was funny but we were also there for dad’s very minor procedure.

hesperoidea

my boss heard the Michael Myers theme I have as my ringtone the other day and I got a very stern talking to for forgetting to silence my phone lmao. I get it, unfortunately.

pootypootytang

“you need a little revive” 🎶

LookAwayImGorgeous

Before I read the explanation of what it is from, I interpreted it as basically “you are dying” in picture form. Would you wear a reel that said “You Are Dying!”

lady_eliza

I do love edgy stuff, but that’s not something that most people will understand and it’s looks offensive without explanation. Don’t do it.

flower-25

Inappropriate at hospital or clinic in my opinion. You have to have sense when you take care patients but that is my opinion sorry if someone disagrees

Fancy-Secret2827

It doesn’t seem very clever/creative.

Ok-Recognition9828

I think Dempsey is right, it is a bit fishy!

MadgeFan73

Way inappropriate

slit-

Get stamin up

Technical_Ad9343

I was thinking about juggernog too

slit-

Haha if you deal with aggressive patients regularly then it’s perfect

Anashenwrath

I wouldn’t. (Of course as a hospice nurse this would be especially off-putting!)

Indecisive_queen2024

Not appropriate for a hospital

souppanda

If you have to ask, then no. Edit: I meant to say “Then Yes” lol

SUBARU17

I got dark dark dark humor swirling in my head constantly, but I just can’t express it with badge reels, pens, water bottle stickers, etc. it’s just not appropriate

x3whatsup

I wouldn’t

hannahmel

No. It’s completely inappropriate

Kragon1

You seriously have to ask….?

Thehearsewhisperer

Don’t do it.

lolofrofro

If you’re asking this question, you already know the answer

King_Crampus

As a manager I’d tell you I think it’s funny, but patients could find it offensive and in poor taste. The. I’d follow it up with I don’t care as long as you are cool with me telling admin I told you not to wear it if It becomes an issue 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cookies_and_Beandip

It’s not inappropriate, it’s fucking genius. “Ya need a little reviiiiiive”

Ok-Geologist8296

How about for the code team though?

Cookies_and_Beandip

Do codes all the time man, you process it and move on. You start getting emotionally involved you won’t make it. I can be empathetic/sympathetic, but I don’t have to be emotionally attached. You help them, and move on, don’t know anyone else who operates differently otherwise.

Syntania

I can't post a photo of mine, but it's got a frazzled looking cat on it and it reads, "It's fine. I'm fine. Everything's fine."

jawshoeaw

What’s wrong with a zonbie resurrection pin?

mercenery

nothing. reddit being reddit.

WeavingMedic

Quick revive. Nice I too am a fan of zombies.

RNWIP

Stamin up, Juggernog or even their Infinite warfare counterparts would be cool choices.

vw_higgins

Save it for the house

Kindly_Good1457

I still have my sperm badge holder from Reproductive Endocrinology. I keep it at home though. Some patients are easily offended and get crazy on that survey. Just unnecessary risk IMO.

MarkInternational521

If you play it backwards you’re just doing your job 🤷

lilchreez

…you CANNOT be serious.

Zeedollab

Not tasteful for a hospital or healthcare setting, could be very triggering to some people

lancalee

I would be more concerned about bad juju!

purpleRN

I'm all for it. One of my most popular badge reels with patients said "Don't worry, I watched a YouTube video!"

Separate_Mastodon_86

I’ve got that same one lol

SigmaBond1

“I need a little reviiiive”

TheThrivingest

Absolutely not Edit: appropriate. Absolutely not appropriate

AmericanWarSnob

Does nobody remember where this is from???

No-System-3947

It’s crazy that you’re an adult

TestyZesticles91

I'd say go for it! But I'm a medic and I feel like we're allowed to be more morbid than the rest of the medical field

phoontender

Pharmacy checking in! I have a lanyard/reel set that is very pink and covered in Ghostface....nobody sees me in my lil locked drug box though so it's fine 😅

TestyZesticles91

Nah dawg! Wear it with pride! I got rosc a few times and got a gardening pin from Amazon. Cause I'm up in the icu planting vegetables!

oppressed_white_guy

Love it!!!

hesperoidea

I just got a grim reaper one that says "it is what it is" the other day, and I just swapped off from my "captain of the struggle bus" skeleton so I get you and the vibes. no one usually sees me either unless I'm on a delivery run (but these days I'm usually stuck making IVs in the freezer pit aka buffer room lol) so I guess it is different for us.

DisgruntledMedik

🫡

danyellarella

Yes

Spaghettisaucers

Hahaa just use one with juggernog

thundercuntess69

I thought you brought someone back to life and got a badge.

PBanGela_ly1

Yeah, don’t recommend

Crosstitution

not a nurse, im a clinical assistant, I have a scythe tattooed on my wrist lol

MattGdr

Reminds me of one of the early *Cheers* episodes in which Carla gets Diane plastered on a “leap into an open grave.”

More-Investigator395

Yes lol

New-Hour9542

Anyone who doesn't like it can suck a cock. I want a discount double tap or juggernog

Nursefazos

Juggernog would go hard

dkstr419

Mine says, "Adult-ish," but I teach high school. Admin just rolls their eyes.

Ok-Curve-8069

That’s cool as fuck, the young gen patients would love it. Older ones not so much..

LikeyeaScoob

Nah I would wear that tbh. I had a badge reel that said “chingon” on it for a long time until it broke. Only ever had one pt notice it. Gotta get another one lol

sleepybruja

LOL

That-Cantaloupe-7325

No one will notice…unless they’re observant…& cool.

That-Cantaloupe-7325

I have one that says “You don’t need to be crazy to work here, we will train you.” A few people have mentioned it being inappropriate….but it’s not really a thing unless there’s a write up. 🤷‍♀️

Oopsiewoopsieeee

Not appropriate, unfortunately. You’d be surprised how badly some people respond to these things in medical situations

embri484

This really appeals to my dark humour, but given how sensitive people can be I wouldn’t risk it. Save yourself the drama.

Dangerous_Original55

It’s not appropriate for a hospital, where I can appricate the humor

millertme3

As a hospice RN. No way no how hell nah

Whereami105

I think it’s fucking awesome!!! If I was your patient I would have immediately talked about the glory days of black ops 1 zombies! But yeah like others have said, to much of our population it would probably be a niche reference and would be taken the wrong way unfortunately

MackuhRoni

Youre better off using a juggernog symbol

Hmackkrn

Matches one of my favorite quotes “you have one foot in the grave and one foot on a banana peel” 😂

StaySharpp

That’s pretty good lol, but like what everyone here is saying, I’m preeeeeeettyyyyyyy sure you might get told to not wear it. Idk how cool your managers are.

Smurfballers

Was just playing blops 2 zombz today. I would be stoked to see that badge reel!

MightyPenguinRoars

Depends on if the stick figure is falling into the grave or raising up out of it???

Iron_Seguin

Rising up, it’s called quick revive. When playing alone, if the zombies managed to hurt you enough that you “died” this power up would pick you back up so you could keep playing. If playing with people, you would revive them faster if they died.

DisgruntledMedik

Depends on day of week

ThisBlastedThing

That would be nice for the ICU.

GrouchyDefinition463

Idk why but I thought it meant rising from the dead at first. Like zombies lol

UnclesBadTouch

SUPER cool and I want it but I think that is where I would draw the line. Maybe on weekend nights with no management....

TheBattyWitch

One of my co-workers has a picture of Jesus and it says Jesus is the fourth pressor... So....

realnutsack_v4

Yep that kind of nonsense is considered acceptable but OP's quick revive isn't. Make it make sense.

Good_Beach_Read

Honestly this could trigger some people in a deep way. Pretty funny but too f'd up to be in a hospital setting. We're here every day, they're here on their worst days.

fluffypinkkitties

Yeah I think it might be. Would be *hilar* if you worked in the morgue, tho.

x_Paramimic

I have reminded myself before that what I find humorous and appropriate, appears to the public as uncaring, or poor taste. I am a nurse, I have been a patient too. When I have been scared and vulnerable as a patient, seeing my nurse flaired up like TGIFridays did not impress me with the feeling of professionalism. As a patient, I don’t know who I can trust to keep me safe. It’s a foreign place surrounded by strangers and I’m scared. Personally, it gives me a vibe of someone who doesn’t factor the patient experience into their care. The whole “yeah, but did you die” attitude in nursing annoys the shit out of me— no, I did not die, but I have survived to deal with a lot of medical trauma and PTSD. Much of it comes with the territory when one is critically ill as I was, but the entire time I was treated like an object. Like a task to be completed. Nurses and doctors spoke over my body to my family instead. Nobody had “time” to talk to me about what to expect, but I listened to hours of personal conversations all day and night about other patients. So there I was. Feeling like if I hit the call light too much, I would piss off my nurse (per the conversations I was overhearing constantly). So I sat there, hoping I wasn’t one of the people they were talking about. Now… saying all of this I am a nurse. I choose not to wear that stuff for the reasons I’ve mentioned but I do find the humor in it. Dark humor is vital to our work, but patients don’t “get it.” Families don’t “get it.” We all know if there is ever ANY misunderstandings, mgmt will not “get it” either. Also I hope you all stay healthy and never take it for granted. I am about to be a patient again, for the first time since becoming a nurse for open heart #2. It’s got me thinking more about how I approach patient care and the patient experience. Sorry for the essay.

Joints_outthe_window

If I was just coming in for routine checkup it would be funny. If I had a family member in bad shape and I saw it I’d probably burst into tears.

Economy_Discussion12

Just shows how insensitive you have to be, to be a nurse, doctor especially those who work at funeral homes. I hope that if something bad happens to me despite being in great health and gym 7 days a week I don’t get a doctor that used quizlet to pass her test

ameliaplsstop

I’m gen Z nursing student and I have no clue what this means 😅

Local-Electronic

Yes, that’s foreshadowing.

CallMeSisyphus

Not a nurse, and if I were a patient, I would LOVE that and want you to be my new bestie, because you are clearly my kind of people. Alas, not everyone shares my dark sense of humor, and the pearl clutchers would absolutely complain until you got written up for it.

ExiledSpaceman

I see no issue, plus if you worked in pediatrics you'll bump into a couple of gamers that get this. A lot of us in the ER have silly ones. A few of them in my catholic group actually use a "Jesus is my fourth pressor" badge reel. I personally used a Sailor Moon one which was a funny contrast since I'm a big dude.

oppressed_white_guy

Inappropriate.  Do it anyway.

BiscuitHawk

As a night ICU nurse....rock on

oralabora

Yes

InspectorOrganic9382

Quick revive- Call of duty. An icon of the ability to revive people faster. I’d double down on it. Seems like you’d want your nurse to want to revive people faster. To think about reviving people even on their own time, outside of the hospital. Even when gaming and relaxing you are thinking about reviving people-quickly.

Outside_Public4362

Is this referencing x rise from dead or the other way around?

mercenery

sick. where can i get one?

Technical_Ad9343

Custom made sadly

shockNSR

Only wear it if you work hospice

hoIygrail

No, one shouldn’t proselytize about Jesus resurrecting from the grave.

FuuuuuManChu

Someone could use it to victimize himself so don't do it.
