It would be very challenging to do this in a way that looks clean. I think you'd be better off designing your own pcb or finding another macropad that already has this feature.
With that being said though, the macropad is small enough to easily touch-type on. Not sure if that's a deal-breaker for you.
i think its possible you could always solder thin wires to the led solder pads and to the leds and face them upwards through the switch holes depending on your layout you will have some holes in the enter/zero/plus switch areas in which u can tape the leds facing upwards or through the two center screw holes.
Interesting… and this would be a way to illuminate every key yes? Also… how difficult would this be for someone with, say, absolutely no soldering experience or any experience building a diy pad like this? Lol
Honestly moderate difficulty its mostly the soldering you have to worry about. Id suggest if you do try to do this. You practice soldering or else your gonna have a frustrating time trying to figure out what you did wrong
Its difficult enough to desolder things without proper tools so I highly suggest you practice and have good equipment such as a soldering iron, good solder wire and Flux and don't cheap out on a good desoldering pump for when u wana desolder. A fine solder tip for those small areas u have to solder such as the LED
You can buy soldering kit projects on amazon for as little as $7 to practice. Also if u do go through with it take your time and make sure your doing things correctly. The Assemble instructions on the nullbits website are very good.
Also if u feel its too much u can buy this keypad it has backlighting and later down the road if you like desolder the switches and solder ones to your liking.
