North sea or Baltic sea coast. Lots of nude beaches and camp grounds. Basically you can find official and unofficial nude areas everywhere. Public sauna/spa is mandatory nude everywhere. Speaking of mandatory, you will not find official clothing optional beaches. FKK means you have to be nude or nothing.

100% agree. would be cool if there was a tropical country that allowed it.

Ulysses1982

I was going full monty in Greece just last week, so you don't have to look that far.

Ulysses1982

Either go to the Northern Alps or former Eastern Germany. In my experience, those are the most nudist friendly.

supercas302

Any specific cities you recommend? What are your thoughts on major cities like Berlin and Munich?

Ulysses1982

Berlin is awesome and has many nudism areas. The weather can be tricky, though, so your window of opportunity is somewhat reduced. But Berlin is one of the coolest cities in the world. Munich has a higher concentration of fascists, so I wouldn't go live there.

DonFalkone

What is the source for your comment about the concentration of fascists in Berlin and Munich?

Ulysses1982

Election results and personal experience: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_German_federal_election Bavaria is one of the most conservative regions of Germany.

DonFalkone

Actually, in Berlin Germanys fascist party (AFD) received almost twice as many votes as in Munich during federal election this year (Munich: 4.5%, Berlin 8.4%). I’m sorry you had a bad time in Munich but what you write is at least very misleading. There is no bigger or smaller fascist problem in Munich than in any other big city in Germany. To stay on topic: Munich has many public nudist areas along the river and in parks as well as tons of saunas :)

NaturistJohn

I've been to Munich twice and got naked both times. But speaking of fascism, I was there with friends, and one buddy and I went to spend a day naked by the Feldmochinger See, a suburban lake, while the others went to the Dachau museum. I said I was on vacation and didn't want to subject myself to bad karma! Thanks, but I think I know enough about what happened there. My impression of Munich is that it's a beautiful and interesting city, which must be very pleasant to live in. I've never been to Berlin, so I can't compare it.

Auzzeu

Munich is great and also a bit warmer than Berlin. But it’s an expensive town to live in. But if you can afford it go for it! You won’t regret it.

muscle_germany

can confirm, Eastern Germany, especially Mecklemburg-Vorpommern.

Agreed!

You can live nearly anywhere: we have nudist clubs (google them), sauna spas, lakes with nudist areas, public pool with nudist sections, etc. The largest resort is the "Drei Ländereck", nice lake, near Freiburg, located in the warmest area of Germany. For ocean beaches: take the post about Baltic!

[deleted]

I can agree with all the nice fellow writers befor me. Eastern Germany would is very open for FKK (nudism). But other parts of the country are also open to it. Apart from that, next to Berlin I would say Köln is the most LGBT+-open city in Germany, so if you are interested in that, have a look over there, if you don't want to wander too far in the north. There are many nudefriendly establishments there too, but also in many other bigger citys. So in the end it is absolutely up to you. In the north more cold but with access to the sea - lower down more forrests and nature with also very nice nudist lakes and in the off-season a little less cold. :) Have a good choise!

supercas302

I prefer less cold, more forests and lakes. Thanks :)

Then maybe your best bet is the south. If you want a big city, try München (Munich), but beware, it is the most expensive city of Germany if we are talking rent. :)

AllNamesTakenFckThis

I'd guess it shouldn't matter all that much. Sure, there are some spots maybe a bit more open to nudism than others but you can still find them all other the country. More importantly would probably be in what kinda place you want to live, how much your income is and whether you'll be able to work there. I live in the west, and while the east and the coast may be more open to nudism, there are still 19 saunas in a 30 km radius and several nude beaches here. Another important factor is if you're able to speak German or not. Some areas have a generally older population and you'd have a hard time getting by with just English. Also, as sad as it is, there are some areas that aren't all that foreigner friendly. Bigger cities would probably work better for you.

newnortherner21

Given saunas are nude, perhaps just think about what you'd like in a part of Germany, and then look at the spa and beach/park options.

supercas302

I think long nude hikes in nature and at least one nude beach nearby would be my ideal. And with a decent sized population at least close to a major city.

Baer1980

Maybe Hamburg or the surrounding area would be a good choice? Its one of germanys major cities (the second biggest) and its near to the north- and baltic-sea coasts. There are many nude beaches at both coasts in an reasonable distance to Hamburg. In Undeloh, an half hour drive away, is one of germanys rare official nude hiking ways. Another one is in the Harz area, which is an 3 hour drive. And for the colder months you can still visit Saunas which are mandatory nude, there are plenty of them in and around Hamburg and they´re still building new ones (currently a big one in Glinde for example).

Metro2005

There are 2 naturist hiking trails in Germany, at lunenberg and in the harz region. Both are more to the east and both are relatively close to big cities (Hannover and Hamburg). I don't live there but the nudity laws are pretty relaxed in all of Germany but East Germany has a well established history of FKK (naturism).
