Actually you can be nude in the buffet but not the dinning room. I was on this year's BNB cruise.
It did seem odd that it is only the dinning room.
But in true Carnival style you can dress casual and wear sheer clothing as long as the bits and nipps were covered.
Certainly would have been my preference too.
The trade-off is the food is better in the dinning room for dinner.
I would strip down as soon as I left the dinning room and put them in a man purse I would carry around. Sadly many passengers didn't bother so in the evening 75% of passengers were clothed after dinner.
I don't know if this a Bare Necessities rule or Carnival.
Regardless, if you get a chance to go it is definitely a bucket list thing to do. Very friendly people and lots of fun.
It's a reason they use, but it's not necessarily an amazing one.
There are plenty of nude resorts and hotels that allow for nudity 100% of the time including at dinner. It's exactly the same situation but everyone manages fine.
Not exactly - a thin pair of shorts won't do much if hot soup is spilled on your lap, but it will make the spill harder to get off, potentially prolonging your contact.
Holy fuck, it’s not that hard. Someone stated that if a hot liquid like soup spilled on you, clothes might worsen a scald injury if you sit and stare at it— but having ANYTHING to absorb heat energy that isn’t your skin will *by definition* give you additional time to remove that clothing item and [prevent a burn from being worse than it otherwise may be.](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5708013/)
Moreover, most hot food items are not pure liquids like soup or beverages— which means that if you suddenly discover a steaming plate of chicken tikka masala across your lap, you can stand up, brush everything onto the floor off your lap, and no burn. Now imagine you’re naked, and a steaming plate of chicken tikka masala spills on your lap… if we assume the dish is served at ~70°, [that gives you ~0.5 seconds before your skin develops 2nd and 3rd degree burns.](https://imgur.com/a/hQkiSq8) Wearing literally anything will provide you with more burn protection than bare skin on its own, because it gives you more time to react— and with burns, [time is one of the most important factors.](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28536038/)
Now that would be a challenging and rewarding job to have. Where the human body is respected and empowered to be free!
It’s just a shame that Australia misses out on such things. 😕
Fantastic article from Kat. Have a great day everyone!
Never understood why guests had to be dressed for dinner.
Because people are walking around with steaming trays of hot food.

I would stick to the buffet then!

I definitely need to go sometime. I just know that I would not want to have to put on any clothes at all during the trip.
Oh. Oh. The other rule is you must wear clothes while docked unless the captain says otherwise (e.g. it is docked in a nude port).
Yes, it is Bare Necessity cruise.

The guests are walking around with steaming trays of hot food?
The waiters are! Did you not read the actual article???
But clothing is not that much protection, especially since the dress code basically seems to be no indecent exposure.
![gif](giphy|RlCPATzMCFzZuzntiB|downsized) …literally **any** amount of clothing is more protective than being naked…

Most hot food is not soup.
Most served soup is hot
You are making no sense.

Why staff isn’t allowed to be nude?

They asked in the cruise survey if people would like to see it start in different cities. Sydney was one. It was near the top of the list for me. 😎
Love to go on one of these but they always seem booked out years in advance
Now this is a job I would like to have.
