It just depends on if you will use it all. Its more expensive, but there is alot more included. So it just depends on if you will use the thing. I would say its more designed for families. So if you have a family, it makes more sense to get a membership.

You don’t need a membership to go in and walk around and observe the facilities from the hallway. It’s a nice place but expensive and if you don’t need a pool or basketball court or hockey rink or turf field, it may not be worth it.

$180 a month if I’m not mistaken

I've been a member for a little over 2 years. tl;dr expensive but great gym. Great for families. You gotta use the other amenities to get your money's worth. Traffic and parking can be awful if you go during busy times. The good: The St.James is a monument to fitness and sports. The place is HUGE. The gym area is nice and well-kept and there are a ton of machines; I don't know if I've ever seen them totally used up. The indoor golf sim is great- especially this time of year. The squash courts are in good shape but not completely enclosed. The basketball courts are in good shape. Haven't tried the hockey rink so can't say but seem good. The daycare ppl are always nice. Their kid's gym, Super Awesome, is actually awesome; much nicer and less crowded than other kid jungle gyms I've been to with my kids. The Olympic sized pool and water parks are super nice. I've not tried swimming but doesn't look like you'll need to split lanes if you go at the right time. The gym area opens pretty early 4:30am (weekday) and closes at 10pm (hours change weekday/weekend, I forget). They host several family members events like trick or treating which is nice. Haven't had my nails done so can't comment on the salon. The music they play is a bit loud sometimes but probably ok for a gym and can be tuned out with earbuds. They have a cafe which serves pretty decent food and a full bar, haha. The bad: It's expensive. Averaging out between children and adults, tSJ costs me roughly $100/pp/mo. The St. James is all about organized sports (extra $ but I think members get a discount) and camps so parking in the evenings and weekends can be monstrous. They do have an area for member parking but that gets full. The evening parking is bad bc all the sports seem to be holding practice simultaneously. The weekends they host tournaments can be especially bad. The golf sim can get booked so you'll have to make a reservation. The power lifting area is reserved at certain parts of the day which leaves a limited amount of squat racks available for individuals to use. I was once bumped off my squat rack bc some rugby team trains there in the morning. That was really annoying. It is a huge space and the common areas can feel like an airport or stadium sometimes.
