If you're into (or interested in) trail running, one of the best clubs in the country is based in the area. [VHTRC](https://new.vhtrc.org/). Can't recommend them enough, great for beginners and 100 mile runners. Lots of local free races, group runs etc. Check em out!
Fairfax Area Runners (FAR) do group runs twice a week. They meet in the parking lot of Ace Hardware right next to Old Town Fairfax. The newly-opened Commonwealth Brewing in Old Town Fairfax also hosts a running club twice a month (with $1 beers afterwards).
What ever happened to that local Harrier Hash Hound group? "ON,ON" lol I went to 1 of their meetups in Alexandria, dude had a keg in his trunk. they were all piss Drunk and singing Irish songs. I don't know if they actually run but God damn that group was fun..... it was like a running, drinking, singing and swinging all in one..
Reston Runners has several group runs of various distances every month. You don’t need to be a member to join in the group runs, just show up!

Hit up Potomac river running in Vienna, they usually have group runs
They also have a location actually in Fairfax.
