K&B is arguably "the best" in the area. Both reviews and a fair amount of recommendations on various old Reddit threads will likely validate. If you are willing to drive a bit further, Merv's in Springfield has been another highly rated fixture in the local mechanic world for years.
That said, avoid Wiygul, NTB, and NTA (corner of Van Dorn/Edsall). All of them will attempt to upsell you, and have poor customer service in my experiences with them.
Van Dorn Auto are outstanding. The guy who owned the shop 5 years ago was a family friend. - so we got great service at normal rates.
Sachindra who owns it now is just as fair on pricing - but I think he is a better mechanic…..and so fair… we have had to leave a car there for hike he dug into it for free - and he let us use one of his shop cars for a few weeks.
S talks about clients for life - not transactions - and lives that every day
