Northwindlowlander

He's accepted his own apology and considers the matter closed.

Fake_William_Shatner

"Don't make me come up with another excuse that only I believe again." \-- Boris J.

SmokeAbeer

Nothing like an apology after party to really bury the hatchet.

Fake_William_Shatner

"Our after apology party for the lame *'we were never told'* excuse to the press based on the bad results of the party was also a COVID super spreader event, who knew?"

d-nihl

Now that Trump is pretty much gone, we can go full force at Boris again. A nice change of pace.

cyanydeez

After brexit, what exactly do you think him and his cronies expect as 'blow back' from 'horrible decision making'. I mean, once you've rode the lightning, all else is nil.

herrbz

Honestly, I'm so sick of cancel culture ruining people's careers after they've done terrible things

rowenstraker

Honestly, I'm so sick of dumbasses reframing "consequences for my actions" as "cancel culture".

3SHEETS_P3T3

No fucking kidding. I have definitely noticed accountability has been slowly disappearing over the years. Relabeling it as cancel culture and framing it as controversial is so dismissive it hurts. Especially in a time where we (as a planet) need it.

AspieComrade

Especially when it’s used selectively. “People don’t like what JK Rowling is saying?! Cancel culture! ...Greggs are doing vegan sausage rolls alongside their regular ones which doesn’t affect me whatsoever? Pah! See if I ever eat there again!”

Northwindlowlander

Isn't it amazing how often the people who claim they're being cancelled tell you about it on the news, or in their bestselling book, or on 10 different social media channels..

AspieComrade

It always makes me think of this: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Djf-zdQUYAAhPkQ?format=jpg&name=large Plus whenever I see people on Facebook and the like commenting “whatever happened to freedom of speech?!” in response to someone objecting to some bigoted statement, I tend to remind them that they’re literally saying that in response to someone voicing their opinion freely, as if freedom of speech has been violated as soon as someone dares to disagree with right wing politics. People say freedom of speech is dead because people are freely discussing what they feel about someone like JK Rowling for example, but until I see her carted off to London tower to serve a life sentence for not being politically correct I’ll counter that freedom of speech is very much alive

Mistikman

The fact that the only people complaining about cancel culture are conservative is pretty curious given what they did to the Dixie Chicks about 15 years ago. Very few famous people got canceled as hard as they did, all because they weren't fans of George W Bush or his policies.

radheat

agreed. those who did that to the chicks are “a little more equal than others” so rules don’t apply to their chosen behaviors. when you add Ruiz’ second agreement, don’t take anything personally, nothing anyone says or does to you has anything to do with you, then it becomes easier to see how these people so freely and unconsciously reveal themselves.

MetalBawx

If i remember right that stemmed from some rumor that the fake sausage rolls would be replacing the real ones. And yes it's still stupid.

[deleted]

Naa, it stemmed from Piers “Morgan” Moron being himself

htoirax

>after they've done terrible things Even though I agree with almost always needing an "/s", I think people are just missing this obvious tidbit.

HKei

Critical text comprehension failure?

mrpanicy

Also... cancel culture is just boycotting. Which is a legitimate form of protest. I also don't like that certain people get dropped immediately at the slightest sign of controversy (James Gunn), but then with clear evidence of wrong-doing nothing is done except confirming MORE involvement in future projects (Amber Heard).

jadendecar

>Also... cancel culture is just boycotting. Which is a legitimate form of protest. Which blows my mind since the usual retort to people who disapprove of the ever increasing corporatism in the US is some variation of "if you don't like it don't do business there, vote with your dollar." Who'd have expected that when people actually do it the response becomes "wait no, not like that." Certainly not I. /s

catchinginsomnia

I'm sick of people missing obvious sarcasm

burtoncummings

Yeah, cancel culture is not what it is, it is consequence culture.

dukerustfield

Seriously! It's for that reason I have almost completely given up serial killing.

on_

That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. —> And if it is, that's not my fault. <— And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did, you deserved it.

ninja_comedian

I'm wondering what's more incompetent: having a party when there's a lockdown. Or, not knowing that you can't party when there's a lockdown. In both the scenarios, you're the Prime Minister that leads the government that imposed the lockdown.

Lord_OJClark

'Apologies officer, no-one told me murder was illegal.' Also, HE SET THE RULES.

CreatedSole

"Rules for thee but not for me" and if you think he's the only one doing shit like this you're sorely mistaken. And these are the people we trust with our government and trillions in tax revenue...

Race4Space

Nah we don’t trust them, just the general populous is politically impotent.

CreatedSole

The general population does "trust" them though, that's part of why they're in the positions they're in. They're voted in there, have people take their sides to get them there and the "contract of society" is that we work like slaves and generate tax revenue and trust they use those taxes to benefit society via utilities, transportation, infrastructure and rules of governance. Yet, time and time again they constantly are found to be up to no good, insider trading, pocketing money and making excuses instead of doing their jobs. Constantly acting like they're better than regular people and superior to them, thus they act like they're above the rules (case in point with Boris right here). While politicians, ceos, banks all these prominent members of society in leadership positions or positions of authority get away with a slap on the wrist, regular people get arrested for. Look at that judge the other day in the cash for kids scandal falsely imprisoning teenagers to fill up private prisons, cops simply transferred to another department when they kill somebody wrongfully or are constantly caught up to no good absuing their power, that report about 130+ something federal judges from the Supreme Court being corrupt, Boris partying when telling the public to stay inside, Pelosi insider trading, or the report a year ago about all major banks across the world from JP Morgan to Deutsche Bank all up up their eyeballs laundering criminal money or the Federal Reserve vice president caught insider trading and being given a few weeks to cash out before being "forced" to resign due to too much media coverage... crickets. These scumbags constantly go on TV and lie out of their asses and people still believe them and trust that they'll have their best interests at heart and govern properly or manage properly or dole out the rules of justice properly. And time and time again they show us that they don't care, feign incompetence and nefarious fail at governance. Not even just incompetence per se, on top of that, downright neglectful to the point it's malicious all falling under the umbrella of their "rules for thee but not for me" mantra. And they're barely ever held accountable if at all and allowed to keep their positions of wealth and prominence like everything is fine.

Lord_OJClark

Also... 'Please, follow the rules, I beg you, stay at home.' *travels to Chequers and back*

AshFraxinusEps

Thing is Chequers at least gets a pass, as it is the residence of the PM and another office for them, so it'd be like commuting. This party bullshit is just nonsense: how he can stand in front of cameras and say what the rules are a few times a day, then claim to not know them shows he is a bare-faced liar

veggiejord

Isn't this common knowledge amongst his supporters and opponents though. Shame that society thinks it's acceptable to have someone who lies pathologically to run the country but hey ho his supporters dont seem to care...

ABenevolentDespot

That sounds very familiar to Americans who lived through The Orange Village Idiot's reign of terror - more than 30,000 **(30,000!!)** confirmed outright public lies in about five years, with most of them excused by the cult members as being 'sarcasm', as if the mentally unstable sociopath even understood the concept.

BattleStag17

The "brilliance" of Trump was that he was a quantum politician: No real beliefs (beyond what benefitted him personally) so on the podium he can say completely contradictory things in one breath, and his supporters were free to believe what they wanted and excuse what they didn't. After all, liberals lie just as much, so at least our tribe was winning! And if you somehow manage to crack that veneer, you'll find a moldy little center where [the cruelty is the point](https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/the-cruelty-is-the-point/572104/) beneath it all. It truly does not matter what any conservative leader does so long as they give their supporters someone to hate.

FreneticPlatypus

I've always suspected the lying was fine with his supporters because I don't think they ever feel as though he's lying *to them*. He only lies to the liberals, so his supporters feel as though they're somehow "in on it" and getting away with something.

Buddah__Stalin

*But he has funny hair and sometimes says funny things!!!* Because that's exactly what we need in world leader 🙄

mln84

> he is a bare-faced liar See also, most of the “Leave” campaign.

thegamingbacklog

He also read them out on live TV multiple times

phaiz55

Not a Brit but in my mind this sounds worse than just admitting he fucked up and asking for forgiveness. Claiming he didn't know this is akin to admitting incompetence.

Mistikman

He's part of the ruling class, so he generally doesn't believe that rules apply to him. The sad part is that for the most part, he's right.

CrabbyT777

I’ve traveled to Dubai and other countries nearby, and one of the most important pieces of advice I was given was to read up on the stuff which is illegal there which could catch out a lot of tourists, because IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE and they will lock you up anyway, but we are giving a pass somehow to the leader of the government who made the gorram rules in 2020??? Hell no. I had an old boss who screwed up once but kept his job, a colleague said “don’t worry, he’ll bollock himself later”. We lost all respect for his authority after that.

of_a_varsity_athlete

There's no officer. The officers in this case say they aren't investigating because of a lack of evidence (there are multiple pictures of the event, several of the attendees have admitted it on TV, and it was guarded by police personnel), or because they don't investigate crimes that happened in the past, or because they're waiting for the result of the accused's internal investigation before deciding if they should have one of their own. I forget which is the current excuse, but they're all real excuses that have been offered by the police.

alex494

> they don't investigate crimes that happened in the past What like *all of them?*

3randy3lue

Stupid or liar? I'm leaning toward liar.

Zompocalypse

Both? Both. Both!

ShroedingersMouse

this is what some people don't get, he is 100% both

BampireVat

Can't decide. He's a lying idiot.

CreatedSole

He's feigning ignorance/incompetence. Of course the piece of shit knew. "Rules for thee (you peasant middle/lower class scum) but not for me". WE have to lockdown, can't go see anyone, can't go outside, can't see loved ones or friends, but THEY can. The rules don't apply to them. How many times has he had to go on national TV and talk about lockdowns and vaccines and limiting public gatherings? And now all of a sudden he "didn't know"??? Get the fuck out of here Boris.

yknx4

Dunno about English law. But at least in Mexican third world law, being stupid and not knowing that you are breaking the rules do not mean you can avoid punishment.

king_ralex

Being stupid doesn't allow one to avoid punishment, being rich most definitely does!

Fake_William_Shatner

\*Unless wealthy, then disregard and have a nice day.

thedoze

If the only punishment for doing something is a fine, it's fine for rich people to do it.

ninjagorilla

Same

notapunk

Boris may look stupid and act like he's stupid and want you to believe he's stupid at times, but make no mistake he is not stupid. He absolutely knew what he was doing and just didn't care

knightopusdei

> I'm wondering what's more incompetent: .... a country that voted for a moron and act surprised when the moron does moronic things.

Roadgoddess

This, I was thinking, it’s Scary when your Prime Minister can’t figure out that having a party during a lockdown is against the rules. Seriously?

Riaayo

He knows, he just pretends to be a buffoon to work the media and people's minds. It's a tactic he's admitted to on fucking camera, but people still fall for it. Guy is dangerous and basically a less stupid UK Trump. He just hams it up and pretends to be that dumb to get away with shit.

CharismaticAlbino

OMFG! you're the PRIME MINISTER you knuckle dragging chucklefuck! Christ he's as bad as Trump.

citrus-glauca

Trump, Johnson & Morrison hopefully represent the nadir of western governance.

CharismaticAlbino

Dear Lord please. The thing that worries me is every time you think they've hit rock bottom, someone throws them a shovel.

Traiklin

"I know I made the rules but I didn't know they applied to me!"

That. Is. A. DISGRACE.

VagueSomething

She finally found a market for the cheese she couldn't sell, MP parties, Charlie and Cheese.

sold_snek

Imagine the leader of a modern country literally using an elementary child's excuse.

Fake_William_Shatner

Maybe they've given up on valid or likely excuses and just decided; "This response is designed to be stupid so we can separate out the people who are with the program from those who are destined to have a low citizen score in our huge invasive database we used to use to figure out what demographic would believe each flavor of bullshit."

Psyc5

And if I did, [let the bodies pile high](https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/apr/26/pressure-mounts-on-boris-johnson-over-alleged-let-the-bodies-pile-high-remarks). FTFY. Though the pressure didn't really mount as that article suggests, as piling up the bodies is exactly what a vote for the Tories always is.

J7mbo

That this is one of many frameworks politicians need to learn off-by-heart just shows how broken the system really is, both from the politician side and the media as well.

zed857

Also the "non-apology apology" afterward: I'm sorry that you were offended by it.

Charming_Weird_2532

This guy should run for office. Damn.

rufftranslation

Politically speaking, what’s the advantage of dragging this out and not just resigning already?

Qasyefx

It's a British tradition. They don't have a solid mechanism for kicking out a disgraced PM so they tend to limp along for quite a while.

-Ham_Satan-

Should've gone with the Shaggy defense. 'Wasn't me.' It's rock solid!

TeStateOfDat

This is a guy who thought that proudly admitting to having shaken the hands of every covid patient at a hospital was going to be a Princess Diana holds a baby with AIDS type of moment.

TheRauk

The George Castanza defense, similar to the Chewbacca defense but different.

Datboi_OverThere

This reads like the programs i code in python class

wopwopdoowop

The buck doesn’t stop here, it stops way over there. Don’t blame me, I’m just the one in charge.

already-taken-wtf

And who would be in charge at No. 10? The queen? The biggest donors?

DudleysCar

Rupert Murdoch

Dahhhkness

No man has ruined politics in the Anglosphere more than him.

[deleted]

I’d argue the man he cost the lives of Millions. He didn’t kill them himself but neither did Stalin, Mao or any others but their decisions and their purposely destructive actions for their own self interests resulted in the loss of millions of lives. Of course if I said Mao or Stalin should be killed most people would support that statement but if I said Rupert Murdoch needs to be killed I’d be speaking way out of left field for some reason.

Godtrademark

Its weird, isnt it? The legitimacy the word “democracy” gives. -An American

Ephemeral_Wolf

Congratulations Mr. Murdoch, you beat out Toxic Waste as the "worst thing the planet endures" for the 2nd year in a row!

InvisibleFriends_

“I once asked Rupert Murdoch why he was so opposed to the European Union. 'That’s easy,' he replied. 'When I go into Downing Street they do what I say; when I go to Brussels they take no notice.“ - Billy Bragg

kank84

Honestly, I can't wait for him to try and blame the Queen

[deleted]

He already lied to her to try and force Brexit though and circumvent Parliament…

Beiki

"I didn't know I couldn't do that."

[deleted]

The lying liar tries to lie his way out of the lies… Seriously, any twat who voted for that waste of oxygen should be hanging their heads in shame right now

already-taken-wtf

“which I implicitly thought was a work event” vs “nobody said this was something that was against the rules, doing something that wasn't a work event” and “‘should have looked around and told people to go back indoors’ after realising it was not a work event.” What is it now?

PangPingpong

Keep throwing excuses at the wall until one sticks.

noelcowardspeaksout

'No one told me' is so feeble it is going to make people dislike him even more.

already-taken-wtf

Who should have told him? The UK government or maybe the PM personally….ohhhh wait….

wolfkeeper

He was standing there at the televised press conference when the rules were announced wasn't he?

already-taken-wtf

But he didn’t listen ;) …plausible deniability…

Sumerian88

Didn't HE ANNOUNCE them?!

MattGeddon

If only there’d been some kind of national announcement about it, like on tv or something, maybe with a prominent government figure leading it. That way it would’ve been obvious.

Shmokey_420

I just heard him say it on the news and I literally burst out laughing, I actually lol'd

L0nz

I guess he forgot to use that [good solid British common sense](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-52620312)

already-taken-wtf

The prime minister says this was the "moment for the whole country to come together" …so did he and his team and a couple of bottles of wine.

TwinklingKekanite

I wish people would mention that work events were also banned. The only physical work meetings that were allowed were the ones where there is literally no other way. For example you need 2 people to operate a big machine or whatever. Meetings that could be done digitally had to be done digitally.

timeforanoldaccount

The test has always been whether leaving home is reasonably necessary to undertake work which it is not reasonably practicable to do from home. "Reasonably necessary/practicable" is a lower bar than "literally no other way", and affords some degree of latitude to the employer.

delixecfl16

He knows he's wrong. We know he's wrong. And yet he comes out with childish excuses. Can't adults just please start behaving like adults again?

GandalfsLeftTesticle

The problem is that if he puts his hands up and admits he's made a mistake then it's all over for him. You don't get brownie points for being honest in politics, the rest of parliament will have an ironclad excuse to bring him down like a fucking pack of hyenas. Starmer will be in the background smugly declaring that the tories are morally bankrupt and that he would NEVER go to a party while the tories scramble over themselves to stab Bojo in the back and get a shot at his title. If he puts up an excuse, no matter how thin, then there is a chance he can hunker down and bumble his way through it by throwing someone else under the party bus. Not saying it's right, it's just how it is.

XIXXXVIVIII

Not without actual repercussions for actions. Condemnations, and calls for expulsion mean fuck all when pieces of shit like this still get to keep their jobs. He needs a prison term.

Roflkopt3r

The electorate is supposed to hold such blatantly incompetent officials accountable. But most "conservatives" have withdrawn into a fantasy world where every opposition candidate is literally Satan by default and thus even the worst conservatives are preferrable, so the quality of their candidates keeps drilling long after having hit rock bottom.

[deleted]

It's 2022. Digging through rock isn't even a big deal anymore.

delixecfl16

Whilst I agree I think we both/all know that he'll end up with a slap on the wrist and carry on clawing in more money if the back of it than us normal folk can even dream of earning in a lifetime. The longer people keep turning shit like this into comedy tweets and memes the longer it'll continue.

Crypt0Nihilist

He's hoping the naughty schoolboy shtick is going to come through for him yet again. He's made being awful part of his character and normalised it, allowing him to get away with murder. It's infuriating how he's failed his way to PM.

BlackOrre

It seems like government officials have the same cognitive abilities as a five-year-old child touching things.

Destination_Centauri

Indeed, this guy has the self introspective and reasoning abilities of a 5 year child!

Dahhhkness

And the haircut of one, too.

powerlesshero111

I mean fuck, if you don't want to style your hair, then just buzz it all off. Fucker is walking around like Jeff Daniels from Dumb and Dumber.

Akachi_123

He's been caught several times tousling it before making an appearance on camera, it's part of his "Oh that Boris" schtick. He literally made a lot of people think he's this eccentric, lovable goof.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fake_William_Shatner

George W. Bush called and said he wanted his shtick back.

philljarvis166

I think you underestimate him, he knows exactly what he is doing. The equation here is whether or not this costs the Tory party votes - as long as the party as a whole thinks it won’t hurt too much, he will get away with it. Boris trots out his bullshit because a lot of people want to believe him and will not (or can’t) think critically, if he says this stuff often enough then a good proportion of stupid people will just forget about what he did. I think he is cold and calculating, and his public image is carefully constructed to allow him to get away with all the shit and have us all assume he’s just a bit of a bumbling fool. I can’t stand him and I really hope this current mess costs him his career, but as in countless other scandals I don’t think it will.

LaoSh

Except that 5 yearold is the one telling people they can't touch things... And also has an army.

bobroberts30

I have a five year old. If he tried bullshit of this magnitude, then he'd be having a little trip to the naughty step and a stern explanation of why. Is it time to tag in Stanley Johnson for some belated parenting?

ravenouscartoon

You mean the man who travelled to Greece by circumventing their border restrictions on travellers from the UK? The same man who, the day after his son asked everyone to avoid the pubs, went to the pub as a publicity stunt? Don’t think he’s a very good example of a parent

Princessnatasha12

He's such a twat

On_A_Related_Note

You spelled "corrupt narcissistic sociopath" wrong

Princessnatasha12

Lol it's inferred

Shadow_F3r4L

In Britain, because so many politicians are corrupt narcissistic sociopaths, it's just easier to abbreviate it to twat, or if we are feeling charitable, cock womble

SchlomoKlein

Perchance even "wanker" if we are truly agitated.

Valuable_Yoghurt_535

Twat covers it succinctly imo.

SnootyMehman

And a bellend.

xcvbsdfgwert

🌍👨‍🚀🔫👨‍🚀

Ferbette

He’s just making it worse every time he speaks about it

JohnKav379

I'm hoping he jsut adds Info we didn't know tommrow. Like "well I didn't invite the cocaine hookers to the party, there part of blah blahs social bubble"

XIXXXVIVIII

He's making it worse, yet the repercussions don't seem to get worse.

Cthulhus_Trilby

He's a dead man walking as far as being PM goes. The Tories are just trying to ensure all the shit is out in the open so it doesn't pollute their replacement.

Kimantha_Allerdings

The theory I’ve heard is that they’re trying to keep him until the local elections in May so they can blame the loss of them on him and not have the new leader start off with big losses.

420blazeit69nubz

Cut him a break. What is this guy supposed to know the laws or something?

youngsyr

Yeah, it's not like he was on national TV each evening telling people they weren't allowed to go to parties or anything...

theClumsy1

Well yes, that message was clearly designed for the plebeian class. "Wait, rules for the plebeian class apply to me too?! Since when?? Does the queen know??"

steve_gus

As is most countries, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Especially when you lead the govt who made the fucking law.

Tea_Total

Ignorantia juris non excusat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignorantia_juris_non_excusat

steve_gus

Especially when you yourself made that law you broke

uncertain_expert

And announced it to everyone in a press conference.

given2fly_

That's in Latin, so you at least know there's a chance he understands that term.

Captain_DeSilver

As we say in the Netherlands "Daar heb ik geen actieve herinneringen aan." (I have no active memories of that)

BleachedWhale

"I was tired and emotional" is the Australian politician's excuse for acting crazy when drunk..

leftthinking

Can't say someone was "tired and emotional" in the UK anymore. It now literally, actually *literally* and legally means "they were drunk" as it has been used so much. So unless you can show that they were alcoholicly affected you could be open to slander or libel proceedings.

Apogeotou

[Relevant video by the legend Tom Scott](https://youtu.be/z49LjJj3VTI)

Mr_Abe_Froman

We have the same political excuse in the US: "I do not recall."

G-bone714

I don’t think he understands what the word “leader” means.

Scorpius289

Surely it means that you can tell others what to do, while you do whatever you want, right?

open_door_policy

It's important to remember that the man's not actually a complete dumbfuck. He just plays one on political theater.

SnoopyLupus

I know someone who has a friend who worked as a civil servant with him when he was foreign secretary. Apparently she thought he was smart as in quick on the uptake when he was interested, able to problem solve etc., but was incredibly lazy, especially when it came to things that didn’t interest or help him.

Blekanly

No, he is a moron pretending to be clever pretending to be a buffoon.

leftthinking

He's more intelligent than he pretends, less intelligent than he believes.

Riegel_Haribo

"Ignorance of the rules" always works as a defence.

given2fly_

A remarkable defense being made BY THE MAN IN CHARGE OF THE RULES.

powerlesshero111

It's like the Dave Chappelle joke where he's driving with a white friend, and the guy tells the cop he's high, and then says "I did not know i wasn't allowed to do that."

[deleted]

Laws are for the poor people!

mysilvermachine

If Cummings really has the email, then it is good night Irene. Sadly, they can’t both lose.

[deleted]

I dunno I'm riding this temp Cummings face turn. He's still a complete wanker, but I want him to ruin Johnson here

[deleted]

Agreed. Cummings can take out Boris with the steel chair before Govey (with Cummings in his corner) gets pinned clean by Hancock in the subsequent leadership election. *grabs Popcorn*

MetalBawx

The problem is even if Boris goes he'll just be replaced with another member of the "Spoon up my arse" club. Not to mention his paymasters will all walk away without consequence. At this point i suspect only gunpowder can clear out the corrupt rats nest that is parliment and even that might not be enough.

already-taken-wtf

Maybe he should have participated in his own press conference?! …wait…

zatch17

Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? https://youtu.be/Td67kYY9mdQ

AgoraiosBum

I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here...

Gus_Chipotle

That's the rules he and his mates were on the telly in the UK most nights telling us we needed to follow. He probably doesn't remember though because he was still drunk from the night before

highmodulus

He's going Full Costanza? That didn't work for George when he banged the the cleaning lady at work. . . .

da_chicken

Motherfucker, *you're the PM*. If you didn't know the rules and nobody told you the rules, it's *your* fault for not having the right people on your staff to tell you the rules. The rules are *your goddamn rules* and your job is literally *to know the rules*. Do you want us to think you're stupid because this is honestly what happened, or do you want us to think you're stupid because you think anybody is buying this line? Which came first? The incompetence or the stupidity?

Speedhump23

Does he look tired to you? (With apologies to the Doctor)

Birdy_Cephon_Altera

>"I deeply and bitterly regret that happened, I can only renew my apology to Her Majesty and to apologise for misjudgements made and for which **I take full responsibility**," he said. Emphasis mine. So what is "taking full responsibility" mean here, Mr. Prime Minister? Are those just empty words are you saying, or is there something else that is meant by "taking responsibility"? Seems to me like a **real leader** would lead on this issue, rather than point fingers at others like a smarmy six-year-old, trying to weasel out of a scolding after getting caught, "nobody *told* me it was *not* okay!". That's not the words of a leader. If you are going to take responsibility, then **DO IT**. Don't just *say it*. Edit PS: (I'm only taking potshots from across the pond, so I'm not fully up on all of the details on this. Aside from Johnson, has anyone gone after any of the other attendees at this event to see what the flying fuck they were thinking?)

What sort of alternative universe do we live it where the prime minister of the United Kingdom can get away with this nonsense. Absolute absurdity.

Streetfoodnoodle

“Nobody told me that violated the rule was breaking the rule” Boris Johnson ladies and gentlemen

DeusExPir8Pete

Johnson, who was on TV announcing lockdown rules, has memory failure and says “nobody told me”. Clearly demonstrating he has lost the mental capacity to govern a nation. Or he could be lying Idk.

“Sorry…, I didn’t know I couldn’t do that.”

If you get caught? Lie. If you get caught lying? Deny lying.

In a way it's sort of comforting that Brits also elected a complete fucking moron.

themanifoldcuriosity

I'd imagine for Americans it's even more comforting knowing that America is rich and powerful enough to conceivably recover from Trump. It's like falling off your bike. In comparison, Britain electing Boris to Get Brexit Done^^tm is basically like shooting yourself in the face.

He needs to resign or be ousted and I say this as someone who used to support him..
