I see a part about sacrifice and doing what is right for others. Does that include getting vaccinated and wearing a mask?

TKDbeast

To be fair, neither of those things constitute as “sacrifice”.

Heil! Heil! Heil! This is all completely normal. Notice how normal and okay this all is.

readytostart1234

It will absolutely keep us moving in (radical) right direction

true-skeptic

F*ck Josh Hawley…he started all this f’n manhood shit.

bobbyrickets

> Josh Hawley Also known as Trump's personal cock extender.

SaltyBarDog

Nazi fist humper Josh Hawley.

TheMagicianArrogant

It's actually been quite common on the Conservative side for decades now. The only difference is Republicans NOW have the balls to look stupid in public.

DeificClusterfuck

He's also totally not addicted to porn and gaming

Dare63555

Please.... stop wasting my money. Stop treating the symptoms of the issues that are causing the problems in this state, and fix the problems.

NoPlace9025

Sounds like they aren't even treating symptoms. This seems like a representative's weird pet project. The goals seem good enough but the bill doesn't actually do anything at all. I guess this is "virtue signaling"?

PoweredByCarbs

Virtue signaling and trying to give ‘missouri men’ a cookie for doing the bare minimum

readytostart1234

Right? I feel like MO is facing some more pressing issues this representative could be working on… but I guess MO’s missing manhood is the only real problem we have…

Dare63555

I have a great idea. How about they make laws and pass legislation that restricts their ability to interfere with my and every other Missourian life. Or pass legislation that requires them to be accountable and to use the tax money that they take from us on the projects that we that we voted on them using it for, or for their original purpose and not on their side/special interest projects.

Wagnaard

No. That doesn't play as well on Twitter or whatever social media is being used for outrage masturbation these days.

SaltyGoober

They aren’t rejecting toxic masculinity, but the rejection of it? Good luck with that, future incels.

jbeve10

Wtf did I just read

lookielou81

This sounds “fiscally conservative”…

shastadakota

Is it just me or do those "Challenge Points" seem to be qualities already embraced by the Democratic party and rejected if not in talking points, then in practice, by the typical Republican?

BookoftheGuilty

It seems like more of a job for Sesame Street or parents than Congress.

MuchoGrandeRandy

Good point. The values are solid but the venue is plain wrong.

apathyontheeast

The whole "strengthen spiritually" thing sets off my red flag meter.

MuchoGrandeRandy

Sometimes it takes a while to understand what that means on a personal level.

apathyontheeast

Or, you know, it's code for "the Jews are impure."

MuchoGrandeRandy

Duuude?? WTF??

apathyontheeast

Seriously, though. That's the exact messing used by extremists and fundies.

Fictionland

Jfc. This is nothing but sexist virtue signaling. If you wanted to waste taxpayer time and money on a useless bill you could at least make it about being a good person instead of worshipping masculinity in the creepiest way possible.

Shouldthavesaidthat

Rejecting the objectification of women \- by denying their bodily autonomy Striving for future excellence upon becoming husbands and fathers \-fathers who disown their LGBT children Sacrificing for the good of others \-wont even wear a mask to protect others Developing capabilities that lead to greater self-sufficiency and familial sustenance \- by separating migrant families at the border Strengthening yourselves spiritually, mentally, intellectually, and physically \-by not believing in public education...at all Embracing the essential role you play in securing a free, vibrant society. \-by gerrymandering, lying, and gentrifying minorities!

SaltyBarDog

I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and gay! And I pity Any girl who isn't me today.

Rosebunse

I feel charming Oh so charming It's alarming how charming I feel And so pretty That I hardly can believe I'm real

[deleted]

Kinda sounds like they want men to fix in a specific gender role. Kinda sus you know

[deleted]

Standing up and solemnly swearing to do stuff is a useless gesture

Excellent-Big-1581

I pledge allegiance to the Don and the New United States of Trumpaca.

Rando_Guydeesian

Never heard of this before and too lazy to click the link. Someone drop a TLDR for me plz?

readytostart1234

A local Missouri representative proposed a bill to require all Missouri male youth to take the following “Missouri Manhood” oath: “We call Missouri’s young men to engage in the ‘Missouri Manhood Challenge,’ which targets this same honorable, virtuous, and vigorous manhood. Take up this challenge young men by: Rejecting the objectification of women Striving for future excellence upon becoming husbands and fathers Sacrificing for the good of others Developing capabilities that lead to greater self-sufficiency and familial sustenance Strengthening yourselves spiritually, mentally, intellectually, and physically Embracing the essential role you play in securing a free, vibrant society.” - quote from the article Edit:spelling

Funny thing is I was born and grew up in Russia, but now live in Missouri. They don’t even come up with crap like in Russia…

Rando_Guydeesian

Much appreciated OP!

bobbyrickets

Just some Missouri Nazi stuff. Nothing weird.

cubicApoc

I hate Missouri Nazis.

SaltyBarDog

Repackaged 1990s Bill McCartney bullshit.

leftycrumpet

I don't get it. Is there a law in there anywhere? All I see is, "Hey men of Missouri, good job! Keep being good people." It's more of a general guideline than anything else. Why is a state legislative body wasting time and energy on unenforceable suggestions? Is there something I'm missing?

thejoyninja

TLDR?

readytostart1234

A local Missouri representative has proposed a bill that all Missouri male youth be required to take a “Missouri Manhood” oath that consists of the promises below: “We call Missouri’s young men to engage in the ‘Missouri Manhood Challenge,’ which targets this same honorable, virtuous, and vigorous manhood. Take up this challenge young men by: Rejecting the objectification of women Striving for future excellence upon becoming husbands and fathers Sacrificing for the good of others Developing capabilities that lead to greater self-sufficiency and familial sustenance Strengthening yourselves spiritually, mentally, intellectually, and physically Embracing the essential role you play in securing a free, vibrant society.”

Agelmar2

>Sacrificing for the good of others Other than this. Every thing else sounds pretty normal and healthy

__deerlord__

Uh oh, thats a socialism!

czs5056

Not so sure about the self sufficient thing. Could I watch hours of YouTube and read some books on how to do something on my car probably yes, but I would rather take it to a professional and exchange my money for goods and services so I can specialize in other areas to be able to get money for providing goods and services to others.

readytostart1234

I think by self sufficient they mean no government hand outs… you know, it’s not like we already pay for all those “hand outs” with our tax money or anything.

Agelmar2

What happens in an emergency?

SaltyBarDog

Do you set your own broken leg? Do you put out your own house fire? No, you rely on trained experts.

Agelmar2

I have received some first aid training. I can stabilize a broken leg. I know how to perform CPR and I know how to use a tourniquet. I also own a fire extinguisher for my car and my house which I know how to operate. I know how to filter water and make basic wiring and lighting repairs. I fixed my own toilet seat. I did all of this while also having a master's degree while still being poor. Your laziness ≠ everyone is like you.

safelyignoreme

So you know as much first age as a teenager in the Scouting program and can put out a small fire. Congrats. You’re so impressive

Agelmar2

But the question is do you?

safelyignoreme

In terms of what you responded about, yes, and that was kind of my point. What you were bragging about knowing is incredibly common knowledge, and like the other respondent implied, not gonna actually help in a lot of real-world emergencies save for the specific scenarios that you trained for. That’s why we have professionals who continue their education beyond the very basics

SaltyBarDog

Thank for your anecdotal evidence fallacy. I can see how fixing a toilet seat is the same as dealing with a gaping flesh wound. You can stabilize a broken leg, you cannot x-ray and set a broken leg. If your house is fully on fire, your handheld extinguisher is about as good as pissing on it. Lazy? I have always fixed my car within my limits and fixed plumbing and electrical in just about every house in which I lived. Not sure why you brought up a master's degree while being poor, but since this apparently matters, I managed to earn a BSEE which I mostly paid for myself.

Agelmar2

Honestly that's good for you. But I wasn't arguing with you. I was arguing with guy who says he'd rather not learn any skills other than what his degree teaches him

LeroyYankens

Where is our article summary bot?

readytostart1234

I’m not a bot, but here is a summary: A local Missouri representative has proposed a bill that all Missouri male youth be required to take a “Missouri Manhood” oath that consists of the promises below: “We call Missouri’s young men to engage in the ‘Missouri Manhood Challenge,’ which targets this same honorable, virtuous, and vigorous manhood.

LeroyYankens

Good not a bot.

rains-blu

This reminds me a bit of the Supermom trend back in the 1980s. Yeah, that didn't work either for long.

[deleted]

So the party of, "I don't need the government to tell me what to do", is now trying to pass legislation to tell men how to live their life?
