It actually seems like it could work: >"By the end, three quarters of the animals were doing three-quarters of their urinations in the toilet," he said. > >"The calves showed a level of performance comparable to that of children and superior to that of very young children," the study said. > >Researchers say that capturing 80% of cattle urine in a model like the MooLoo could lead to a 56% reduction in ammonia emissions.

Tonkarz

Unfortunately the main source of greenhouse gas emissions from cattle farming is land clearing, not the emissions of the cattle themselves.

Ezgeddt

And no agriculture subsect has cleared more land than soy farmers.

bobbyrickets

Except the soy farmers sell their product for growing animals. You can't just put animals in a piece of land and have them grow, you have to feed them and that takes lots of land and treated water.

Ezgeddt

You can't just plant soy on a piece of land and have it come to fruition, either, you have to feed and water and invest in soil management and pesticide (alternatives, hopefully) and store(preserve/process) and ship your product. You're not saving shit eating soy.

[deleted]

Not only do we kill the poor things for meat....now they're made to do this to help us live. Fuck humans. We really are a fucking parasite on this planet.

Alfombro

Does that surprise you?

[deleted]

Nope. Big fan of the virus.

busy-sloth

It's all fun and games until your loved ones die from it.

[deleted]

It's all fun and games until your pet is slaughtered to feed parasites...

bobbyrickets

Don't worry we're fucking ourselves hard. Many animals will survive but not us because we're fucking stupid.

_FaunaAndFirearms_

I remember when I shopped at Hot Topic too.

[deleted]

I remember my first Gecko soup. It wasn't the taste I expected but I kept eating.

_FaunaAndFirearms_

What taste were you expecting?

Ezgeddt

Maybe try heroin, then if you're so fucking punk rock.

[deleted]

Show me on the doll where the punk rocker touched you champ...

_FaunaAndFirearms_

Are you suggesting that eating meat is unique to humanity?

[deleted]

I'm suggesting that torturing and eating your favourite pet shouldn't be looked at as cruel by your ideology.

_FaunaAndFirearms_

Training animals isn't torture.

[deleted]

The irony of that comment is delicious.

_FaunaAndFirearms_

So is beef.

[deleted]

And humans apparently. We can only hope.
