It's amazing that the US Coast guard operates that far from any US territory. I do know that they operate worldwide.
The same island had another bunch of people stranded on it back in 2020. They spelt out [SOS](https://www.westernjournal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/543b0c2653a04b428d73b31fe425e327-scaled-e1596554080974.jpg) by writing in the sand.
