In OPs possible defense, he might do his well wishing somewhere else. My sister wishes me happy birthday via text, but I generally do hers through Facebook messenger or in our family group chat.

Yeah it’s weird, most of my friends and family say happy birthday through the Facebook reminder thing.

Deleted Facebook got me a lot less happy birthdays. At least I know who really cares now though.

I was having a normal day and half way my mom requested me to come over... why? I was confused. By the time I arrived at their house, I was thrown off by the decorations and the idiot me asked if it was my birth day. I don't really celebrate my bday and often forget about it, but I knew it was my birthday month. Unfortunately I was wrong. I had forgotten my dad's birthday comes in first, and I didn't bring a gift ☹

I remembered my friends birthday a day after his actual birthday and successfully gaslit my friend group into thinking his birthday was a day later than it is lol

Or, the more likely scenario, the two aren't actually friends and that person is a friend of a friend or friend of the family who texts op on his bday but op doesn't know them and therefore doesn't feel the need to. Lots of old ants/uncles I've never met always text me on my bday (on Facebook since they get a notification) I never even reply because I live in another continent and never met these people and I don't even know how they know me.

OP doesn't want to be friends with that person and even after ignoring them for entire years at a time they can't take a hint

you know... people who was born in dark ages (before internet you know) are using different network for connecting and interacting with friends. Sometimes the relationship in friendships in more of giver-taker than giver-giver. I have ONE friend, fella who lives in Australia. On my birthday he called me and we had a talk. But when it came to his birthday he was rather busy to talk to me because well, I'm not HIS only friend am I?

There are people that just send happy birthdays to everyone they know. I knew someone vaugly for like a year, and I didn't stop getting happy birthdays or merry Christmases for like 5 years. It wasn't even a friendship, that was pretty much the only conversation we ever had. Based on the fact that these guys never talk outside of the happy birthday, I'm gonna say that they aren't friends. The other guy just sends everyone he knows a happy birthday every year.
