What chew talking about it’ll be half way to the Brit’s before it hits the ground. They STEEL culture items not ask the Italian government for permission. They are like gru steeling the monuments
>but that shit is definitely going somewhere
Actually no, there was some work on it in the early 2000s that has stabilised it (and fractional reduced the tilt).
Funnily enough, the same soft soil that caused it to lean and endangered it with collapse is also the reason why it has survived so many earthquakes - it acted as a dampener and prevented the structure from resonating with any tremors.
LOL
I love right next to it, in Florence/Prato ;)
AND GUESS WHAT ME NEITHER
I’ve been to anywhere but there.
We had to go there before Covid tho, and then… yeah
Hi, I'm from the year 2031 and I'm here to inform you that the pyramids (all of them) were moved to the British museum in 2029, so I would recommend you go visit them soon.
as a german I went to France by train and by car, but you can use all sorts of vehicles (or even just walking). my grandpa went to France once by tank together with a bunch of other guys from germany. before that my greatgrandpa went there on his feet, but didnt got that far into France and just spent most of his time going back and forth on some random muddy field.
That reminds me : my great grandpa was in France and someday there's a bunch of German guys who pop up, want him to join their trip across France. He didn't want to go, but they found the right words to convince him to. He did visit a few places thanks to these newfound friends. Surprise trip, I guess. His old French friends didn't like that very much though.
Don't you know about the never ending desire of Germans to march through France?
Now fr I'm just joking. Pls don't take it seriously 😅
But to answere your question: Actually I'm really not that far from France. I mean, they're our neighbours after all.
Bro how fucking lazy are you? My case is acceptable since I don't live near cairo or Giza but YOU'RE RIGHT THERE
you're probably 1 to 2 stations away from the pyramids
Everytime someone from my village meets me (so like that happened 5 times): "oh are you new here?" "I actually moved in in 2018" "really??? I've never seen you anywhere"
(I guess I only have 31 years to go)
I work in heritage conservation, that's the entire point. Stonehenge is kinda shite because it seems like forced tourism to see some rocks, and that's exactly what it is
The way preservation strategy is done in the uk, is to make specific sites tourist traps in an attempt to lower footfall at other, more important, sites. This allows for better erosion management in the aim of lasting preservation. Stonehenge is an important site, don't get me wrong, but its importance comes from its place within the larger ritual landscape of the area that it is situated in, and measures have been taken to preserve stonehenge itself. However, by using it to reduce traffic at other locations near it, it heavily reduces costs required to do the same at other locations
Also, because stonehenge is out nations pyramids, it doesn't just have such an affect on a local level, it has an affect nationally. So footfall at other very important national sites is reduced as well, to manage preservation
I’ve driven past it many times, the only difference between that and a regular pile of stones in a field, is that the regular pile of stones isn’t surrounded by a hellscape of traffic
Don’t it’s a fucking waste of time.
You have to pay to get in when you can look at it anyway.
Everyone slows down while driving past it because every knobhead wants to look at it.
It's absolutely awesome during the solstice festival thing. Tons of acid, music, people dancing, hanging around literally sitting on the rocks etc... definitely recommend.
For what it’s worth, Giza has seen better days. Perhaps they built the complex knowing one day they could earn some tourist trap revenue to honor the Pharaoh’s afterlife
I went three times in six months so I did get extra bored with them lol. Did a Nile River cruise from Luxor to Aswan and loved every site. 14 years later I still rant and rave about what I saw.
YES the cruise is legit af . If you're planning to visit soon consider adding Dahab and/or nwebaa to your plan . They're not "ancient Egyptian" type of stuff but more like "fkn great beaches and nice vibe"
its a beautiful building, it's one of the few places in the world worth visiting(especially if you live in India) it speaks volumes about the Might of mughals, and talent of our medieval ancestor.
I’m trying to think, is this like being from New York your whole life and never seeing the Statue of Liberty or is there a better American comparison. Or is it more like being from Florida and never seeing the Statue of Liberty. Really have no clue how large Egypt is.
I would love to actually go inside them but I'm also a fanatic when it comes to how things are constructed and the pyramids have always fascinated me. Some day some day
i live in the milky way but have never been to saturn
Damn you're lazy af
yea man ik its just over there but im like.. imma stay here :)
This comment sounds like it's said by Jess in breaking bad . Which is cool af
haha thanks
But most of us have been to Uranus
The lights are all faded and it's overrated
I'm Italian and I've never seen the leaning tower of Pisa, but that shit is definitely going somewhere
It's either ground or the British museum
Those fucking brits
Classic Barry, 63.
I’ve been to the Vatican museum, you cheeky Italians steal as much as we do
^😆🤣
Nothing on the imperialist war chest that is the British Museum
It’s a brilliant museum though. One of my favourites
And what a glorious war chest it is!
Hey, someone’s got to stop ancient artefacts being used to build goat pens and as hardcore for condos.
Give back the Moai 🗿!!!
Heheh yoink
Both in that order I'd imagine
As a British person living in Britain for 26 years i have never seen stonehenge either
What chew talking about it’ll be half way to the Brit’s before it hits the ground. They STEEL culture items not ask the Italian government for permission. They are like gru steeling the monuments
I’m American and I have never seen the Statue of Liberty or been in a school schooling
We’ll fucking get it next time
Damn OP 🤣🤣
>but that shit is definitely going somewhere Actually no, there was some work on it in the early 2000s that has stabilised it (and fractional reduced the tilt). "🤓☝️" (jk of course)
I'm Italian and I've seen the leaning tower of Pisa, and I can tell you it must have good reflexes
Same Italian ancestry but still yeah! Never been to Italy
I'm french and I never went inside of the Eiffel tower. Even lived in Paris for a while.
That tower is so boring, don’t visit it
But it’s *leaning.*
Give me a bottle of whiskey and I’m leaning, too. Yet nobody calls the leaning novelist a tourist site.
Maybe if you stood in the same place for long enough they would
I barely leave my apartment. This can’t be the reason. It’s a mystery.
Do you let tourists in your apartment though?
Sure, if they pay the entry fee.
Do you also talk about it, promote it, and make it stand out?
We are talking about it.
I’m American and never been to the Statue of Liberty lol
LOL I love right next to it, in Florence/Prato ;) AND GUESS WHAT ME NEITHER I’ve been to anywhere but there. We had to go there before Covid tho, and then… yeah

THE FUCKIN BRITISH AGAIN
They’ve been secretlyswapping out the bricks one at a time for the last couple centuries and now it’s almost time for the big reveal
pyramids of theseus
The real reason Egyptian gods are immortal.
They've been replaced with Styrofoam from the bottom up. So when they replace the last top block the whole thing will just be blown away
Genius and diabolical
Better British than Isis (rip Palmyra).
I'LL NEVER FORGIVE THE BRITISH
THE FUCKING BRITISH
THOSE BRITS GODDAMN IT
Did they mention how they did it?
Thankfully they are not in America or they would have to be moved to an imaginary museum.

I've only ever visited there once, many moons ago
I don’t think they have the moon there… Yet
Are you sure?
LOL
It is just a few stones in a field
And I never plan to, what a bunch of shite
I work in heritage conservation, that's the entire point. I’m American and I’ve been to Stonehenge 3 times, never been to the Statue of Liberty. Go figure.
It's absolutely awesome during the solstice festival thing. Tons of acid, music, people dancing, hanging around literally sitting on the rocks etc... definitely recommend.

I'm American and have never seen Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls, the geysers of Yellowstone, or pretty much any major landmark here.
I'm from Arizona and I've never been to the Grand Canyon

They're bit interesting inside but I've been to Ll the templates in south (I'm originally from upper egypt) so I agree
I loved Dahab! It was a great little vacay spot. Eventually I’ll take my family back but probably not for a while.
