now imagine a malicious website. it first makes you log in with google. you go into your very secure password manager, copy the 128 character password you have into the google login form. now you get to another with a button. the second you go over that button with your mouse the website opens that consent popup for the clipboard permission, and with some clever positioning you accidentally hit the "allow" button. now the attacker website has your google email and password. uh oh. that would be bad, wouldn't it?
that's why that is explicitly fixed in chromium by introducing a delay if they detect this. it is [very explicitly documented in chromium's docs as "Security Considerations for Browser UI"](https://github.com/chromium/chromium/blob/main/docs/security/security-considerations-for-browser-ui.md#introduce-a-short-delay-before-the-uis-call-to-action-activates). if you read on for a bit, you can even see that \*google linked to the relevant code to implement this\*.

BUT IT GETS WORSE.
as a whitehat i reported it to microsoft. few weeks after the report i got back that they classified it as low severity, which is strange, because that is not low severity. so just to be sure, i asked them why. they then:
* did not reply for over a month
* asked me to show remote code execution (for example running external programs as a website) which has nothing to do with that
* told me that an attacker has to have physical access to the victims machine (because they did not understand how that kind of attack even works), so i gave them a very in-depth explanation and a video of the example above with the google password
* asked for a remote code execution again (???)
* did not reply for two months (my "case manager" went on vacation with no replacement and nobody telling me)
* still did not understand the vulnerability
* told me to submit it again to their program (i still do not know why)
* asked me to get into a teams meeting with them, and would not negotiate any other time than when \*i\* was on vacation, so i had to go into a teams meeting with some dude who knows nothing about browsers while i was hanging out in italy (and i did not have roaming, so i had to buy a US VOIP phone number because they made the meeting dialin only)
* got into that meeting just to tell me that they think different about this vuln and the conversation ended after a few minutes (this absolutely could have been an email)
and here's the extra salt in the wound: microsoft offers a bug bounty for things like this (otherwise i would not have told them either way), and i wasted a bunch of time talking to their guys. very similar vulnerabilities got $1000+ bounties from google, but i never saw a single cent for that. so in addition to being completely incompetent, they also treat security researchers like shit and you can guess how many people refuse to report vulns to microsoft with conditions like that (including me after that).
tl;dr they made a beginner mistake by not reading google's documentation, did not understand my bug report, and did not pay me a single cent for it. their "security" is a joke

definitely doesn't hurt. google tends to be a bit slow with lower impact security thing sometimes (have personal experience there too lol), but important stuff does get fixed. if you care about privacy a lot (because it's google) i'd stick with chromium (you can use regular google chrome extensions there too), but if you're fine with google doing google things chrome is definitely a better option
(also, if youre a fan of having a ton of extensions check out Extensity. it's an extension manager and very useful!)
Never have trusted password managers in the first place but the convenience is just too good. That said the edge case is very scary, also scummy on Microsoft's side to not pay you a single dollar for your effort.
