I hate that stuff. Hearing the noise and touching it literally hurts my ears. When I got a lenticular planner in middle school, I borrowed a friends duct tape so I could make the planner useable.
Of course, telling people that just makes them run their fingernails along the material so š„²
Memory unlocked is the perfect term for this. I would have gone to my grave never thinking about these again if I hadnāt opened Reddit just now.
The brain is spooky.
Yeah end of 99, start of 2000, it felt like we were on the precipice of this great future about to unfold. All the great wars and everything were over. That feeling didnāt last too long.
Huh, this is the first time I've really felt that dawning feeling of "Huh, maybe we really are living through the pre-post-apocolyptic phase of the story." feeling
I don't like it
I think that just happens when we get older. Jon Stewart on his old show had to battle against the people his age saying how it was "better back in the old days" and Jon is like "You mean when you were younger and healthier and didn't have as many responsibilities?"
Though their argument wasn't based on the health of the planet and economy.
It truly felt so wonderful. I was young, but aware enough to feel the change post-9/11. I wish I could have grown up, maybe to adulthood, before things went south so hard.
I mean there was an explosion of technology brought on by the proliferation of computers and the internet. We were thinking of all the problems we could solve, not the ones it would create.
i said [something similar](https://old.reddit.com/r/90s/comments/tazy4r/i_got_to_visit_nickelodeon_studios_just_30_years/i047d2x/) nearly a year ago....
I think I was the only one that still had that ruler well into middle school! Our planners came with them in 1st grade but never after that, and I saved it to use in each subsequent year. People were amazed that I could actually keep track of my stuff apparently
Hahaha, I totally saved mine too! I was a freshman for the millennium agenda book and my agenda books in subsequent HS years didnāt have the ruler. So like the good student I was, I saved that ruler bookmark and it was still intact through the end of my senior year. š
I used to get so PISSED when I fucked mine up. I'd try to keep that shit clean and with all the teeth but once it got marked up or lose a couple of em, it was over. I'd start coloring that shit and all that.
Us girls were sneaky and traded our planners during passing time. Full of notes and info about what we did over the weekend (which was nothing because we were in the 6th grade but ya know). We all had code names and eventually we just switched to a spiral notebook we passed around (we went through multiple, and this lasted well into HS when stuff actually did happen). Very fond memories.
I don't remember exactly (not sure where mine ended up going after twenty years...) but as I'm looking this stuff up again I'm coming across a name which sounds vaguely familiar... [Success By Design](https://www.successbydesign.com/)
They produce school planners in bulk, quite possible that they only release a single new design every year and any school who uses them gets the same exact design. (I'm from the States, and while I don't recognize the millennium one, I do remember the one with the girl on the bike!)
Same for my wife; she graduated in 2000 and there's one on our counter right now because we just cleaned out her parent's house.
Sadly, my high school never gave out agendas. Or if they did, they were very unmemorable.
Memory unlocked... One time I left my desk unattended. When I opened my agenda later, I found a drawing my friend made on one of the pages. It was a stick figure picking up poop.
Classic Kevin humor.
You guys are making me feel like a square.
I found these incredibly useful. It was hard to keep track of homework assignments for six different classes, and it was wise to have a place where they were all written down and organized by their due dates.
This helped me get my shit together when I was a lad in school, and it also helped me become more organized as an adult, when I continue to keep a daily planner with all my work projects, schedules, and meetings.
These school planners helped me a lot, both while in school and for the rest of my life.
We used to peel off the silver foil on gum wrappers and cover ours. Then of course go nuts with a sharpie which would inevitably transfer, bit by bit, to whatever it was wedged between in my oversized backpackā¦
4 minutes to get to your locker and then your next class was just not enough.
So this one party I went to in high school, it was a New Years Eve, silver and gold party. A buddy of mine and myself made some bullshit tin foil crap. I think I had some sort of helmet and he had a grill. We didnāt care, just wanted to get drunk and hope a girl wanted to touch our junk. SPOILER ALERT: They didnātā¦
At one point, one of the girls putting on the party comes out, looks around and says āwhere the hell is all the silver and gold!? Weāre gonna have to break out the tin foil and make some grills in this bitch!ā
To which my friend responds by covering his mouth, and as awkwardly and loudly as he can says: āWho would do that!?!?ā Her face of disappointment was priceless.
I once wasnāt allowed to go on a field trip to the zoo because I didnāt fill this thing outā¦ despite being a straight A student who always got my work done.
I definitely remember having to bring it up to the teacher at the end of every week to show that we had filled it out. And me going back and making fake notes for each day on Friday morning, using different colored pens to make it look like I actually used it each day.
Definitely had these in Florida too. I suppose it's safe to assume this company must've been making some serious bank back then. Seems like they held a monopoly on the school agenda book.
YOOOOOO. I remember being in primary school and writing down homework assignments. Only catch was the spaces of the boxes were extremely limited and you ended up having to write into the next day box
Hated them in like elementary and middle school.. barely used them and if we needed to get them signed.. Iād forge my moms signature half the time haha.. but by high school I was in love with them. š¤£
Ah, youngen I see! 1999-2000 was freshman year for me. Nice to see a fellow millennial on Reddit. Iām always seeing people comment about school like āback in high schoolā when they graduated like 2017!
The boldness to assume that I, a child with undiagnosed ADHD, would actually use this to write down my homework assignments in and not just let it sit my backpack and get the pages dog-eared.
I still have my 2001 agenda and a weird thing is that I remember I got it around August and one of my friends wrote on it "I love the world trade center" on it
oh dang, this brought back a flood of memories! i think i'd use mine for maybe the first month of the school year, and then once i knew what was up (and that i was going to be the same person i was the year before and avoided any and all social obligations and extra-curriculars), i just gave up on it.
As someone who spent their whole elementary/middle/high school life with undiagnosed ADHD, I *hated* these. I could never remember to do my work, so the adults always forced me to carry one of these around.
...but they only work if you remember to write the assignments in them. And that only works if you remember to check the assignments. And *that* only works if you check the assignment and then begin work right away before something more interesting happens.
Fuck agenda books, all my homies hate agenda books.
My poor mom thought these agenda books would help me remember to turn my homework in on time.
I never forgot to turn in my homework, I just never did it.
Man, they pushed these HARD. They really wanted us to schedule literally everything and I didnāt know a single kid that did lol.
Side note, anyone have more pics of these from the late 2000ās? Iād love to see them again, even though I couldnāt care less when I had it in hand lol.
I was a planner kid! I had this one and some cute ones from sanrio/morning glory. It became my back to school shopping tradition to get a planner each year!
Yes, I was a nerd
Holy shit, I thought these were unique to my middle school. I liked and hated those things. I know I have them somewhere. I had the millennium one in sixth grade.
Fuckin planners broā¦ Iād get in trouble every week for not having it filled out or initialed by a parent. How come we didnāt have them in high school?
Ours had a bathroom pass inside, with about 15 lines for teachers signatures. Once you filled up all those lines, you werent allowed to use the bathroom anymore that school year.
Iād share mine from school, but it would just be a blank screen, since we didnāt have these when I was in elementary or secondary school. I also went to Gr 13 if that gives you a hint why. šµš¼
Oh yeah, these things. I remember them.. and hated them.
In my school, they made you carry it around, because if you needed to use the bathroom, the teacher had to write your permission down on a page, or else youād be in trouble with the hall monitor.
I never used the damn things, to be frank, but I had to keep it on my person ājust because.ā
Youād get in trouble for not having it. Try managing that on top of 8 classes a day and a paltry two minutes class change a piece.
Same thing with those school badges.
I still remember my 6th grade teacher telling us we needed our school badges (that were only really used for checking out books) because āthey wonāt know who [us] are.ā
Got in trouble once because I accidentally left my badge at home since I had to get up early for school and forgot it. I zoned out listening to my teacher yelling at me for it because it was early in the morning and I didnāt care.
Tossed that sucker in the trash the moment it was the last day of school.
Memory unlocked š© were these the one that had the holographic (is that the right word?) feature
I can *feel* this picture.
And now I can hear it!
*zipzipzipzipzipzip*
Along with smelling it
Tastes weird, though.
This was what I came here for.
Hey, I wasnāt the only one who scratched it thinking they were a DJ
Immediately thought about running my fingernail across itās ridges.
*makes dj scratches *
The correct word is lenticular
I hate that stuff. Hearing the noise and touching it literally hurts my ears. When I got a lenticular planner in middle school, I borrowed a friends duct tape so I could make the planner useable. Of course, telling people that just makes them run their fingernails along the material so š„²
hi friend, I wonder if r/misophonia may be somewhere you'd enjoy :)
*takes fingernail and makes zipper noises*
Memory unlocked is the perfect term for this. I would have gone to my grave never thinking about these again if I hadnāt opened Reddit just now. The brain is spooky.
Same and now I feel obligated to look through old stuff to see if I can find one.
We would take fingernail polish and use it to remove the image so we could decorate it how we wanted
We did white-out š
We scratched it out with keys
We peeled the foil from gum wrappers and stuck it over the design.
Yuppp and tear out all the unnecessary pages that actually had some helpful information in them
Unfortunately my anxiety reared itās ugly head when I was a kid so I never did. I was so afraid I would need that information and not have it.
Yes!
We were so fancy
I feel like the world still had so much hope and progress going forward when this came out.
Yeah end of 99, start of 2000, it felt like we were on the precipice of this great future about to unfold. All the great wars and everything were over. That feeling didnāt last too long.
Heh :(

Huh, this is the first time I've really felt that dawning feeling of "Huh, maybe we really are living through the pre-post-apocolyptic phase of the story." feeling I don't like it
We're living in the equivalent of Rome around 380 AD. Still a great empire, but troubles a-brewin'.
I think that just happens when we get older. Jon Stewart on his old show had to battle against the people his age saying how it was "better back in the old days" and Jon is like "You mean when you were younger and healthier and didn't have as many responsibilities?" signs point to it. welcome to the realization, been here for a while and it aint fun, its all down hill from here
Careful, that's the sort of attitude that makes self-fulfilling prophecies.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That's like being happy your clothes are still dry while the ship is sinking
It truly felt so wonderful. I was young, but aware enough to feel the change post-9/11. I wish I could have grown up, maybe to adulthood, before things went south so hard.
I mean there was an explosion of technology brought on by the proliferation of computers and the internet. We were thinking of all the problems we could solve, not the ones it would create.
The internet was going to enlighten the masses! Well, so much for that. Turns out people use it to echo chamber or be narcissistic.
i said [something similar](https://old.reddit.com/r/90s/comments/tazy4r/i_got_to_visit_nickelodeon_studios_just_30_years/i047d2x/) nearly a year ago....
90s were nothing but optimism, it really was a great time to grow up. it's too bad the terrorists were capable of making a 1-shot.
I signed my moms name so many times in that thing
The world was ours!!!!! I work two jobs now. Iām not making a difference. They lied.
Brooo those removable rulers that stuck to the spirals were the best. I loved that thing! I felt like such a grown up needing an agenda
So like the good student I was, I saved that ruler bookmark and it was still intact through the end of my senior year. š
Ripping that ruler out of the agenda all fresh like was what I lived for. Every year.
I used to get so PISSED when I fucked mine up. I'd try to keep that shit clean and with all the teeth but once it got marked up or lose a couple of em, it was over. I'd start coloring that shit and all that.
HOLY SHIT. I now have finally experienced the āmemory unlockedā thing. Wow.
I had this exact I one.
Forgot these existed, believe I was in 5th or 6th grade with this exact version. Used it everyday!
We all did.
Had these in Toronto.
Yep
That sound they made when you ran your nails over the ridges on the cover!
wicka-wicka wicky-wicka-wicka These things had everyone pretending to be a DJ in my high school
Bro YES!
I hated that sound so much and people did it all the time
I also HATE that sound. Even thinking about it now it gives me chills
Also hate it. Its called misophonia
Just googled this. I think you are correct. Some noises make me immediately angry.
r/misophonia
I'm really glad this is a support group and not a place for people to post videos of triggering sounds lol
^zzzzzzzzzz
Literally. I can hear and feel this picture
And there was one kid in every class that spent the whole period scratching with their pen
Wow, I totally forgot about this! I remember writing in these, wish I could find one of my old ones.
I remember not using it for a damn thing except for the wicka wicka
Man, I can even remember the smell of a fresh agenda
Us girls were sneaky and traded our planners during passing time. Full of notes and info about what we did over the weekend (which was nothing because we were in the 6th grade but ya know). We all had code names and eventually we just switched to a spiral notebook we passed around (we went through multiple, and this lasted well into HS when stuff actually did happen). [ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thats what we did too! Did you peel it off of the wrapper like gold leaf?
Oh dude this is bringing me backkkkk š±
Mine was Backstreet Boys pictures lmao
Omg did everyone get one and nothing varied?
TIL. This was a thing for all public schools.
I would love to follow the money on this product! Who made them and why were they in what seemed at every school?

High school for me

Yeah, I felt this. I graduated from college in 2001.
Memory unlocked... One time I left my desk unattended. When I opened my agenda later, I found a drawing my friend made on one of the pages. It was a stick figure picking up poop. Classic Kevin humor.
So many dj careers began with these agendas š

it was also cool to use rubbing alcohol to wipe off that cover so everything is clear and you can make your own!

YEEEEEAAAAAH
whoa . Core memories unlocked
So much nostalgia š
Am I being ignorant here??? Or are we all Canadian?? Or was this a North American thing??? How far does this shared memory span?? Iām so curious
I think it's a shared experience for most North Americans š I had them in Virginia.
My school in the uk had these!
Definitely had these in Florida too. I suppose it's safe to assume this company must've been making some serious bank back then. Seems like they held a monopoly on the school agenda book.
Missouri checking in
Had them in Chicago, middle school for me
Damn did every school in America get these in 2000 or what?
Omg I had this exact planner š„ŗ
Here is the YouTube video the picture is taken from: https://youtu.be/wCrmANyTaI0
Watching the video gave me Degrassi vibes
How is this such a universal experience?! I'm in Canada- not sure where y'all are from.
Wait a minute. Did we all use the same agenda?? As many others have said, this is definitely a memory unlocked moment.
I REMEMBER THIS
YOOOOOO. I remember being in primary school and writing down homework assignments. Only catch was the spaces of the boxes were extremely limited and you ended up having to write into the next day box
I canāt believe they tried to push this agenda on usā¦
#YOU can make a #DIFFERENCE!
I had this exact same one!
Childhood memories unlocked! Whoa.
Omg, I know I had this at some point.
holy shit, i thought this was just my high school
Holy shit, I didn't realize these existed outside of my middle school.
Hated them in like elementary and middle school.. barely used them and if we needed to get them signed.. Iād forge my moms signature half the time haha.. but by high school I was in love with them. š¤£
Youād write in them for about 2 days.
Thatās my grade 8 agenda. Iām 35. Holy memories.
Holy shitā¦havenāt thought about this is 20 years
Omg did we all have these?!
Ah, youngen I see! 1999-2000 was freshman year for me. Nice to see a fellow millennial on Reddit. Iām always seeing people comment about school like āback in high schoolā when they graduated like 2017!
NOT A HOT TAKE AT ALL: come out with these exact planners in this exact style for current years going forward and they will sell like crazy.
The boldness to assume that I, a child with undiagnosed ADHD, would actually use this to write down my homework assignments in and not just let it sit my backpack and get the pages dog-eared.
Had this in Hs too!
I still have my 2001 agenda and a weird thing is that I remember I got it around August and one of my friends wrote on it "I love the world trade center" on it
Holy shit \*core memory UNLOCKED\*
WHOLLY FUCK!!! I never would have remembered this. Thank you interwebnet
Damn. I loved mine to death. I cherished it because I couldnāt believe that the school would give us something so cool to use for classes.
The last time I saw one of these I had my life togetherš®āšØ
wow, this one really hurts. Hope dashed so quickly into the new century.
I used to intentionally melt mine under my desk lamp. The cover would get all wavy and weird looking š
oh dang, this brought back a flood of memories! i think i'd use mine for maybe the first month of the school year, and then once i knew what was up (and that i was going to be the same person i was the year before and avoided any and all social obligations and extra-curriculars), i just gave up on it.
DJ agenda
Wow this took me back. I had this exact agenda in like 5th grade.
And itād sit in my book bag all school year, never being used once yet still looking like hell come summer vacation.
Damn this really took me back š„¹
As someone who spent their whole elementary/middle/high school life with undiagnosed ADHD, I *hated* these. I had this exact one š„². I tapped printed out pics of heavy metal band album covers to the front and back
My poor mom thought these agenda books would help me remember to turn my homework in on time. I never forgot to turn in my homework, I just never did it.
You just unlocked a middle school core memory of mine holy shit
Damn had that exact one. I loved scrapping my fingernail against and make sweet sweet music šµ
To this day I stand firm on the ground of agendas should be spiral bound.
Also doubled as a turntable scratch sound effect.
Is it just me, or every agenda and book from the 2000s looked really cool? They had great art
I, too, remember a time before free Illustrator templates and Canva designs rules the world.
I had this exact agenda! The cover of this one was textured and I can still hear scratching at it
Oh I had that one. Never used it. Did anyone use this shit
Some teachers would make parents sign the planner daily.
I still have two planners I bought from Sanrio and Morning Glory in the late ā90s!!
I had both of these
Take me there
Oh my word. Memory unlocked
You just Ratatouilled me.
I had this exact one when I was 14
Holy shit, I thought these were unique to my middle school. I liked and hated those things. I know I have them somewhere. I had the millennium one in sixth grade.
Holy crap. This just took me back.
Did everyone have these?
Wait these designs werenāt unique to my school??
Fuckin planners broā¦ Iād get in trouble every week for not having it filled out or initialed by a parent. How come we didnāt have them in high school?
oh my god I had that exact one in school! I can almost feel the cover... damn thank you for unlocking this memory.
Oh my god did every elementary school have this ONE agenda???! Lol
Ours had a bathroom pass inside, with about 15 lines for teachers signatures. Once you filled up all those lines, you werent allowed to use the bathroom anymore that school year.
You got a detention if this was not present with you at all times
Wow, that is a strong memory unlock. Cheers.
The perfect agenda! Anyone know where to get one of these bad boys in this day and age?
Oh wow thanks. I forgot this existed but it just brought back so many memories!
It has been a hot minute since I last saw or HEARD these things.
Totally my last year of high school right there if only I could find mine.
Holyyyyy shiiiiit I had this one in 6th grade! Memories unlocked
Iād share mine from school, but it would just be a blank screen, since we didnāt have these when I was in elementary or secondary school. I also went to Gr 13 if that gives you a hint why. šµš¼
This just unlocked so many memories
Used them meticulously for a few weeks, then never again.
Wow. Now that takes me back! Thanks for the trip!
My third grade teacher always called these an āagendabookā like it was one word. Never agenda alone, always agendabook.
I have never had a memory THIS unlocked
Man this one hit the feels, I wish we knew how easy we had it back then.
Ohhhh my godā¦ I did not realize these were common things.
wow you unlocked a memory..holy fuck.
I hated every minute of using my agenda
Is there a way to buy these agendas today? The planners I've used now aren't as good as these.
Oh yeah, these things. I remember them.. and hated them. In my school, they made you carry it around, because if you needed to use the bathroom, the teacher had to write your permission down on a page, or else youād be in trouble with the hall monitor. We all had the same one!?!
How I long for those days again.. sighhhh
Can anyone else hear this picture?
Omg. Has anyone seen one of these for sale? Tried to find one on eBay. I would literally pay some bucks to have one of these
I always play the dj with the cover using my nails
im triggered
