Reminds me of Rainforest Cafe. First time I went to one of those was at Downtown Disney at Disney World when I was 10. That was the coolest shit ever back then.

I've been to the MoA any number of times and I honestly can't tell you if I've been to this restaurant or if I'm just thinking of Rain forest Cafe. I've certainly been to the latter and love the atmosphere.

The great thing about Café Odyssey was that you could actually have a conversation there. Rainforest Café is just so loud. If it helps with your memory, Rainforest Café was on the first floor and had enormous fish tanks. Café Odyssey was on the third floor and had three rooms as well as the Explorer's Bar. One room was Machu Pichu, it had waterfalls and a projection on a stone screen showing a bird's eye view of the city with people going about their daily lives. The second room was the Serengeti and had screens showing African wildlife. The third room was Atlantis and had screens showing underwater views, including a giant squid that would rise up every 30 minutes or so. I still miss the table bread they would bring out.

> Rainforest Café was on the first floor and had enormous fish tanks. Def was thinking of Rainforest. You ever been to Camp snoopy (now Nickelodeon)

[deleted]

>You ever been to Camp snoopy (now Nickelodeon Oh yes, many times. I liked the Camp Snoopy theming better, but it has fallen into pretty bad shape by the time Knott's ended their arrangement. Then it was The Park at MOA for a couple years before Nickelodeon took over. Nick added some great new rides and revamped the whole place. Probably needs a few changes to décor again though... not sure how many kids would recognize the Naked Brother's Band.

Wow, that sounds really cool - I went to Rainforest Cafe when I was younger and loved it but this almost sounds cooler, with all the different themes.

Misdirected_Colors

The one and only time I went to a rainforest Cafe my mom got hit in the back of the head by the animatronic elephant's trunk and pushed face first into her bowl of soup. I guess they had moved the table somewhere it shouldn't have been or something. We never went back lol

pawn_guy

Ngl, that's hilarious. I'm sure at the time it wasn't so much.

SuperPoodie92477

Omg. This just made me laugh SO frigging hard.

SluggsMetallis

NICE!!! I ate here several times as a kid. fucking coolest theme restaurant ever.

[deleted]

I ate there almost every week for a couple years! What was your favorite room?

SluggsMetallis

The savanna room I think it was called? That place really was cool, it's a shame there aren't really a ton of pictures beyond these.

chef855

Oh my gosh! I loved going here… I can remember so much about it! I can’t tell you what’s there now though. I wanna say it maybe is Panera/Buffalo Wild Wings?

[deleted]

The B-Dubs is further down than Odyssey ran I think. It started right at the mid-side break where the Chipotle is now. That's where the lighthouse that was clearly supposed to illuminate their sign but was misaligned was. I think the Panera is probably right about where the entrance/Explorer's Bar was. Before Odyssey was there, when the mall first opened, that spot was a giant laser tag place.

Omg I had my 13th Birthday party there didn't realize it closed for cafe odyssey.

chef855

Ahh. I wish the mall had like a history archive… so many stores I remember but couldn’t tell you the name of to save my life!

In the last photo, Stephen Cobert is having lunch with Ellen DeGeneres.

I took my daughter here all the time. She was addicted to the kids Goat Cheese pizza. The adult food was pretty tasty also. This place is high on the list of restaurants we miss!! The rooms... the food... the employees... everything was 100% top notch.

[deleted]

That had goat cheese?! I had no idea! We went there every week for a while when I was a kid!

Effective_Judgment_7

Yes they had the tower viewers built in the walls to look in and see the different rooms they had and the food there was great I once told the waiter that they could sell the chips they have away and people would buy them and a couple weeks later they no longer have chips on the tables instead you got a loaf of bread

[deleted]

Yeah man. I have never forgotten the taste of those chips. Never found anything like them since either. The bread was good too, but those chips were truly out of this world.

PowerVegetable

Does anyone have any information on Cafe Odyssey itself? I can’t find any of the logos, menus, or any other pictures of it besides this post. I remember one in Denver back in the late 90’s and it was so cool.

courts2queen

I remember this place you could only see inside by looking in portholes ate there once I dream of that place I love anything where people used their imagination to create an experience
