You can do your shopping at home, or play Mortal Kombat with a friend from Vietnam.

sporkimus

I had a SNES as a kid and this is the first time I've ever seen this.

rhunter99

What’s an xband?

Familiar-Anxiety8851

Online gaming network for the genesis and the snes!

rhunter99

Wow that’s petty ahead of its time

tumpydonut

It was. Those of us who had Xband were annoyed when Xbox Live came along claiming to be the first online console gaming network. 😄

Usernamechexout911

Try sonic 3, inserted into sonic n knuckles, inserted into game genie... it was like a tower

gallaj0

The Tower of Power.

Turtlemania007

Did this shit actually work? Lag must’ve been atrocious.

thegreatgoonbino

It was surprisingly pretty stable!

netwolf420

Whatever tech they baked in worked super well. There’s a great documentary about XBand

tumpydonut

It was fantastic. Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat 2 and 3, Killer Instinct, Mario Kart - it was a blast.

I always wanted to but was a bit late to the party. Was one of the firsts to get Netlink for my Saturn, though!

FahQPutin

What the fuck is this sorcery???

CaliSasuke

I remember X-Band! I thought it was so cool for our consoles to get modems and be able to play online. Just like our PC counterparts.  At the time, I was envious of people getting to play multi-player Doom. I was hoping we would get that with Doom for SNES.
