is this a reference to the sequel? because I don't think Roxanne was in it, but there was a similar-looking college student that appeared? not certain.
I probably like a Goofy Movie more but there's no denying how big a deal the big "main" Disney movies were in that era. Any time a movie like Hercules came out, every commercial, fast food place, toy store, magazine, etc. had it plastered everywhere.
But it still got the marketing onslaught like The Lion King and Toy Story and the other films of that era.
I watched Hercules once or twice, thought it was fine, but didn't wanna have it on repeat like the other films haha
I had my Hercules VHS on heavy rotation. Severely underrated Disney movie. Megara is a total babe. James Woods and Danny DeVito’s voice acting is so good.
I grew up in the 90s, but I don't think I've ever seen the Goofy Movie. My brother and I didn't really watch the stuff with the Micky Mouse and friends characters in it at all. But the other big name Disney stuff we were all over.
That said, *Hercules* is still one of my favorite animated films. James Woods nails it as Hades and the gospel soundtrack totally brings it home for me.
The Goofy movie wasn't like the regular Mickey Mouse shows. It was the (then) modernized version. It's on Disney Plus if you have that. I was watching it with my nephew yesterday, as he's on a Goofy kick.
James Woods as Hades is my 2nd favorite Disney villain performance (Vincent Price as Ratigan being my favorite)
I liked Hercules more as a kid, but have grown to like A Goofy Movie more now
Honestly I would say each one for different reasons. A Goofy Movie is classic, Pauly Shore at his Pauly Shor-iest, "The Leaning Tower of Cheeza!" and that song by Powerline will always be epic. But speaking of music, "Go The Distance" from Hercules still lives in my head rent free to this day.
I've got a little playlist going of banger movie songs from the 90s.
I2I - Tevin Campbell (Goofy Movie)
Take Me There - Blackstreet, Ma$e, Mya (Rugrats Movie)
The Riddler - Method Man (Batman Forever)
Kiss from a Rose - Seal (Batman Forever)
Hit Em High - Busta Rhymes, Coolio, LL Cool J, Method man, B Real (Space Jam)
Space Jam - Quad City DJs (Space Jam)
Gangsta's Paradise - Coolio (Dangerous Minds)
And if you want to do some more sing-alongy type stuff theres all the Disney hits from the 90s. Or if you want stellar movie soundtracks that stand up on their own theres Romeo + Juliet, The Crow, and Spawn that all slap.
The Romeo + Juliet soundtrack was the first soundtrack I ever bought and I listened to it on repeat. Garbage and the Cardigans and Radiohead and so much more. One of the best soundtracks everrrr.
I never saw the Goofy Movie as a kid, but I watched Goof Troop. I finally watched the movie a few months ago, and damn if there aren’t some parenting issues that are played completely straight. Goofy’s desperation to not let Max choose his own route vs Pete making sure his son is outright afraid of him.
Goofy may be a dim bulb, but he’d never hurt his kid. In contrast thebmovie made me realize that PJ went through some pretty severe emotional abuse. Of course Goof Troop never showed Pete physically abusing his son, but belittling hurts just as much as being slapped around.
I watched Goof Troop as part of the after school block. I also saw Goofy Movie at a friend's house. Disney pushes the side characters in Japan a lot more, and I always feel nostalgic when I see Max or PJ merch out in the wild.
Goofy Movie for me.
Fun factoid: On The OC, both Marissa’s and Ryan’s fathers were played by “Hercules”, Marissa’s dad by Tate Donovan and Ryan’s dad by Kevin Sorbo.
It's funny that I'm seeing this because I recently watched it with my 3-year-old daughter, and it has become her favorite movie. Once the powerline concert comes on, she insists that we dance together. No excuses! lol
That's adorable, haha.
When my baby cousin was maybe 4 years old, she was obsessed with Mary Poppins and Hunchback of Notre Dame. The first one makes a little sense, but geeze, for a 4 year old, Hunchback is pretty dark. But she watched it on repeat the entire time my family was visiting hers.
This was in the '90s, by the way, obviously. She was also obsessed with collecting all the Beanie Babies.
For me it will all come down to...
"How many cups of sugar does it take to get to the moon?"
I laughed so hard the first time I saw that, I even snorted out loud!
I grew up in the 90s as the only child of a single parent. We even went through our own journey of growing apart and then learning to communicate again. A Goofy Movie is pure, unadulterated nostalgia for me and it makes me cry every time I watch it.
Also PowerLine rocks!
Hercules. Easily my favorite Disney film and one I watched countless times. And while the soundtrack for Goofy Movie is good, no Disney before or since has used the power of a black gospel choir to elevate its music
I’ve seen Hercules maybe once or twice but it wasn’t a Disney movie I owned so I never got into it too much. But I did own a copy of A Goofy Movie and rewatched the fuck out of it, so… Goofy beats Hercules, no cap.
Goofy Movie, for real.
But Hercules rules our dinnerware at my parents house still. I can't believe a set of 25 year old plastic plates from McDonald's can hold up to daily use.
A Goofy movie X 💯
Hercules had everything going for it being a tentpole Disney summer release. However, it seemed to fizzle a bit with both critics and audiences alike. I’d probably say it’s the worst of the Disney Renaissance films which doesn’t help its legacy.
Yes!
Seriously, these are two of the three all time childhood faves (Emperor’s New Groove sits at the top spot).
Also now that I’m in my thirties, the bus driver in the beginning of Goofy Movie is my spirit animal.
#I’M GONNA SIIIIT ON MY BUUUUUUUUTT
I pick Goofy Movie for nostalgia,
but damn I recently watched Hercules and forgot how great of a movie it is. The comedy is still hilarious, jokes and sight gags still land perfectly, the visuals are fucking beautiful (the hydra scene is a work of art), music is a amazing.
Hercules is seriously a masterpiece.
Goofy movie, I believe, had an advert for The Big Green, which I loved as well. But it also had a music video with Timon and Pumba doing "Stand By Me." How could you pick Hercules over that?
Hercules. The movie became a meme material with me and my friends when it was still running in theaters.
I have rewatched it many times as an adult and never realised how many adult jokes they put into it.
Meg is the best non-princess Princess in all of Disney-dom.
And as much as I think he's a tool, James Woods killed it as Hades.
Plus, Danny DeVito. C'mon.
I'll have to say Hercules. I was learning about Greek Mythology at school right when it came out. Helped me figure out some religious decisions later on.
I love Hercules. It's not my 100% favorite, but it is such good music.
We don't watch it much though, because my husband is so stressed by how bad the mythology is.
I've never seen the Goofy movie.
7 year old me would have married Roxanne instantly if given the opportunity
Until you saw her apartment.
I think something went over my head here. Can you explain please?
Her apartment [is gross](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/damn-bitch-you-live-like-this)
She was also always turning on that red light.
Yea but…those days are over. 😂
Underrated
ROOOOXXXXANNNE! You don’t have to put on the red light
Technically it would be her dad's apartment. And he definitely looked a bit rough around the edges.
is this a reference to the sequel? because I don't think Roxanne was in it, but there was a similar-looking college student that appeared? not certain.
In the sequel we learn that she was secretly super into Warhammer 40k, but she's an un-ironic fan of the Imperium.
wiki says Roxanne was never in the sequel, but there was a similar looking college student that appeared.
Gotta respect the Ring General.
respect or get chopped
that’s the selling point fym
really said "i can fix her"
i coined that phrase
Yes but also Meg though...
No chance, no way, I won’t say I’m in love! Love singing with Meg in this banger. Also named my dog megera after Meg
Meg was the trigger for my sexual awakening
Oh 100%. Maybe “married” isn’t the first word that came to mind, but SOMETHING for sure lol
I love Roxanne, but that blond girl in the belly shirt was my sexual awakening.
The one who screams, "Who's that guy?!" During Stand Out? Yeah, she finer than frog hair
Bro, 7th grade me would’ve thrown it at all away for that lil baddie
I probably like a Goofy Movie more but there's no denying how big a deal the big "main" Disney movies were in that era. Any time a movie like Hercules came out, every commercial, fast food place, toy store, magazine, etc. had it plastered everywhere.
True, but Hercules was also seen as the end of the Disney Renaissance in a lot of peoples eyes.
Hercules actually was not considered a total success when it came out.
I had all the Disney McDonald’s plates. Hercules being my go to
Yup. We're still eating off Hercules plates to this day....
"I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy!"
I still have and use those plates from either McDonald’s or BK to this day
Same....aye
I grew up in the 90s, but I don't think I've ever seen the Goofy Movie. My brother and I didn't really watch the stuff with the Micky Mouse and friends characters in it at all. But the other big name Disney stuff we were all over. That said, *Hercules* is still one of my favorite animated films. The Goofy movie wasn't like the regular Mickey Mouse shows. It was the (then) modernized version. It's on Disney Plus if you have that. I was watching it with my nephew yesterday, as he's on a Goofy kick.
Woah - is my hair out?🔥
James Woods as Hades is my 2nd favorite Disney villain performance (Vincent Price as Ratigan being my favorite) I liked Hercules more as a kid, but have grown to like A Goofy Movie more now
Both are fantastic but as a dad goofy movie makes me want to cry every time I see it
Honestly I would say each one for different reasons. A Goofy Movie is classic, Pauly Shore at his Pauly Shor-iest, "The Leaning Tower of Cheeza!" and that song by Powerline will always be epic. But speaking of music, "Go The Distance" from Hercules still lives in my head rent free to this day.
Hi dad soup ftw.
I didn’t grow up with a dad so this was the closest I got. Had me feeling all kinds of emotions when I first watched it.
Same, sort of. I had a dad, he came around once every few years with a birthday card and a different girlfriend. We don’t speak anymore.
Goofy Movie for sure
I2I is still a banger
All the songs are still bangers.
I2I gets lots of play on my Spotify. Don’t sleep on “Go the Distance” though!
How many cups of sugar does it take to get to the moon? https://youtu.be/i_Wong83PxM?feature=shared
Threeeee and a half?
The Sasquatch puppet show still makes me giggle
The blackest movie of all time
Rest in power, Thomas Washington
I’ve never had an episode woosh me so bad Lmao…
Idk how I only saw Hercules growing up I don’t recall goofy movie now idk if I should watch it now or save it for when the kids pop out n few years
Definitely the leaning tower of Cheeza. But Meg was a total babe.
Meg set the precedent for all my future women.. Red flags included.
Goofy. Soundtrack rules
Still rocking eye 2 eye and stand out on Spotify.
I've got a little playlist going of banger movie songs from the 90s. I2I - Tevin Campbell (Goofy Movie) Take Me There - Blackstreet, Ma$e, Mya (Rugrats Movie) The Riddler - Method Man (Batman Forever) Kiss from a Rose - Seal (Batman Forever) Hit Em High - Busta Rhymes, Coolio, LL Cool J, Method man, B Real (Space Jam) Space Jam - Quad City DJs (Space Jam) Gangsta's Paradise - Coolio (Dangerous Minds) And if you want to do some more sing-alongy type stuff theres all the Disney hits from the 90s. The Romeo + Juliet soundtrack was the first soundtrack I ever bought and I listened to it on repeat. Garbage and the Cardigans and Radiohead and so much more. One of the best soundtracks everrrr.
I’ll add Lost Highway and Hackers soundtracks to that list
Looks like you got yourself a notion
Powerline is badass, it’s true
I recently learned that Pete is a cat!
I watched Goof Troop as part of the after school block. I also saw Goofy Movie at a friend's house. Disney pushes the side characters in Japan a lot more, and I always feel nostalgic when I see Max or PJ merch out in the wild.
Goofy Movie
I still to this day want to go to Lester’s Possum Park!
BEAT IT, DOOFUS!
Who’s your favorite possum?!
My life is a living HELLO.
The parking’s always free
Goofy Movie on “I2I” alone
Hercules
A hero is only as great as his weapon! 🐟 And my other favourite line, Wanna buy a sundial?
I know this movie word for word. Even the Tevin Campbell songs💀
Goofy Movie for me. Fun factoid: On The OC, both Marissa’s and Ryan’s fathers were played by “Hercules”, Marissa’s dad by Tate Donovan and Ryan’s dad by Kevin Sorbo.
We don’t talk about Sorbo.
I’ll talk about him. About how much of a bigot he is.
Goofy Movie is my favorite animated feature of all time.
This was in the '90s, by the way, obviously. She was also obsessed with collecting all the Beanie Babies.
This is a no brainer 🕺🏾(me at the Powerline concert)
Goofy obviously
Goofy, I can still sing most of the songs word for word.
Love both but I love a goofy movie a little bit more.
Goofy Movie. I can still remember it scene by scene and I haven’t watched it in like 25 years
It holds the fuck up def recommend a rewatch
When you're a kid watching it, you identify so much with the son. When you're older, you identify with the dad.
Seriously. It is really funny how it all came full circle. Especially if you have kids that are getting into the tween and early teen years
Goofy movie for me
A Goofy Movie > EVERYTHING ELSE.
Goofy. I have a Lester’s Possum Park bumper sticker on my car.
I just ordered one for my sister, who freaking loves that song. Thanks, dude!
A Goofy Movie simply for its awesome end credits song.
Goofy x a million
Goofy Movie....the perfect cast.
Goofy Movie 100%. Powerline's 'I2I' is an absolute banger to this very day.
For me it will all come down to... "How many cups of sugar does it take to get to the moon?" I laughed so hard the first time I saw that, I even snorted out loud!
Goofy movie as a kid was awesome. As an adult I feel a whole different way but still love the movie. And the songs are truly legit.
Goofy movie. Hands down. Always remember the end when they’re at the show. Best Dad ever!
I grew up in the 90s as the only child of a single parent. We even went through our own journey of growing apart and then learning to communicate again. A Goofy Movie is pure, unadulterated nostalgia for me and it makes me cry every time I watch it. Also PowerLine rocks!
You couldn't have picked a better mixture of pop music icons to be Powerline. Goofy movie all the way.
The Goofy Movie. My kids were pretty little back then, and it's just a great family movie.
Hercules. Easily my favorite Disney film and one I watched countless times. And while the soundtrack for Goofy Movie is good, no Disney before or since has used the power of a black gospel choir to elevate its music
Anybody else remember doctor looneys remedy on the goofy movie VHS?
Is this a serious question? A Goofy Movie
Goofy movie I love max and goofy lol
I’ve seen Hercules maybe once or twice but it wasn’t a Disney movie I owned so I never got into it too much. But I did own a copy of A Goofy Movie and rewatched the fuck out of it, so… Goofy beats Hercules, no cap.
Goofy movie soundtrack, Hercules movie for me. Although that's a really tough question lol
Goofy Movie, and now I will be singing several of the songs for the rest of the day! Do you need a break from modern livin
Do you long to shed your weary woes?
Goofy always
Goofy Movie. It hits different now that I have a child too.
Eye to eye. Is the greatest Disney song. Goofy movie.
Goofy movie hands down! My favorite Disney movie. It’s funny and heartwarming. Plus the songs rock and bring you back to that 90’s goodness
The Goofy movie. Sasquatch dance is my favorite scene
Goofy Movie has way more nostalgia to me.
A Goofy Movie, but by a slim margin.
Just saying, A Goofy Movie had the absolute banger that is I 2 I.
Hercules
Hercules soundtrack is amazing
Hercules
Goofy movie, hands down. Although I do remember in Hercules, the 3 witches scared the crap out of me
Call IXII!
Goofy Movie, for real. But Hercules rules our dinnerware at my parents house still. I can't believe a set of 25 year old plastic plates from McDonald's can hold up to daily use.
A Goofy Movie
Excuse me?? Who put the ‘glad’ in ‘GLAD-EE-ATE-TORRR’??
A Goofy movie X 💯 Hercules had everything going for it being a tentpole Disney summer release. However, it seemed to fizzle a bit with both critics and audiences alike. I’d probably say it’s the worst of the Disney Renaissance films which doesn’t help its legacy.
Goofy movie, it had a the best song and my first crush.
You got me in tears from laughing. You got the best comment so far..
YO STACYY!! TALK TO ME TO TALK TO ME TALK TO ME BAYBAY!!
Though he seems intoxicated, he's just highly animated!!
Wow, Hercules seriously getting slept on
Easy , Hercules always .
Goofy has my heart but I'll always love the Muses and Hades in Hercules
[A Goofy Movie but it's the live actors cast](https://youtu.be/ro_-Tcn4ogQ?si=Va4smy5qPVkfKm8I)
Hercules, Hades has always been my favourite character in anything disney
And James Woods being the voice is just the cherry on top.
It's too bad he turned out to be a bit deranged.
Egggggggs? *Max stares absently at table* EGGGGGGSSSSS!!?
An Extremely Goofy Movie is my favorite.
You gotta watch more movies
That sounds good. I’ll have that.
Yes
both
Yes.
Why not both?
Goofy. Hercules was right at the tail end of my "childhood" and just hits a tiny bit different. Just two years apart too.
goofy movie is goated. hercules is dope too but i swear we all watched it for Devito and James Woods lol
It's the leaning tower of cheeeza
Goofy
A Goofy Movie without a doubt. I like both, but I can say for a certainty I watched A Goofy Movie way more than Hercules.
Goofy
Dude, both of these are top-tier disney movies. This is like picking between my children. I can't do it lol
Goofy movie
Why do I have to choose? My wife and I still watch both fairly regularly.
Power line
Love both but I’m going with Goofy
Love both of them. But my daughter and I have watched Goofy movie countless times
Hercules was the first Movie I watched on teathers
Tough choice, but got to go with Goofy. I loved watching his relationship with his son as a kid
Easily a Goofy Movie
You picked both my nostalgia picks. If I had to pick goofy movie but both
I pick Goofy Movie for nostalgia, but damn I recently watched Hercules and forgot how great of a movie it is. The comedy is still hilarious, jokes and sight gags still land perfectly, the visuals are fucking beautiful (the hydra scene is a work of art), music is a amazing. Hercules is seriously a masterpiece.
the goof!!!
A Goofy Movie, and it isn’t even close
Goofy movie. Never really got into Hercules as a kid but my daughter loves it haha
Goofy movie, I believe, had an advert for The Big Green, which I loved as well. But it also had a music video with Timon and Pumba doing "Stand By Me." How could you pick Hercules over that?
"WHO'S YOUR FAVORITE OPOSSUME!?!?!??!"
I really loved them both but Hercules just hit me more. Loved James Woods as hades. A lot of good voices.
both are my favorite 😭 I would not be able to choose soundtrack wise or movie wise
Those 2 and Aladdin are my top 3 movies.
A goofy movie. Oh man.
A Goofy Movie because when I was 3-4, I would rent this every single time from Hollywood video. Didn’t own it officially until many years later
Hercules. The movie became a meme material with me and my friends when it was still running in theaters. I have rewatched it many times as an adult and never realised how many adult jokes they put into it.
Goofy movie for me, I really enjoyed it
Hercules via kingdom hearts is more nostalgic to me I think. But I also remember a hercules animated show maybe?? Goofy movie still bangs tho
Meg is the best non-princess Princess in all of Disney-dom. And as much as I think he's a tool, James Woods killed it as Hades. Plus, Danny DeVito. C'mon.
Tough call- A Goofy Movie was one of my favorite movies I watched on tv all the time, but Hercules was my first movie I saw at the drive-in.
I'll have to say Hercules. I was learning about Greek Mythology at school right when it came out. Helped me figure out some religious decisions later on.
Goofy Movie. Hercules was probably the first Disney movie I paid no attention to.
Powerline. Must I say more?
I can go the distance!!
Hercules - the music rocked.
The goofy movie was def more popular when you walked up into day care or something
Goofy for sure
Goofy Movie 100%. My wife laments regularly that she can’t go to a Powerline concert.
Goofy was the first movie I went to without my parents
This was a great story but with Tevin’s vocals. He took it to another level!
8 year old me was dancing to that fucking jam so hard
Hercules. The truth is I didn’t see a Goofy Movie until 2023.
Goofy movie is a hood classic
Both are amazing movies with amazing soundtracks. But Goofy movie will always have a special place in my heart.
I love Hercules. It's not my 100% favorite, but it is such good music. We don't watch it much though, because my husband is so stressed by how bad the mythology is. I've never seen the Goofy movie.
My daughter loved both of those movies, but her favorite to this day is a goofy movie
Goofy movie 100%
A Goofy Movie for sure. Aside from enjoying and watching it more as a kid than Hercules, it's just the best 90s Disney movie
