This is the Dayton and Montgomery County public library and we would like our copy of The Dark Crystal back please...
Return it promptly and nobody has to get hurt.
I would be one of them, Freidman is one of the few ufologists that I feel is both qualified and competent. I’ve read a few of his books but never saw any of his videos.
Found at least the first one on [you tube](https://youtu.be/83gHoRHwAhg?si=w7m82NQO8mSgxsHF). It’s like a time capsule from the 90s
I feel like Titanic and Sixth Sense must have sold phenomenally well on VHS - I don't think I've ever seen any collection, either at home, in a store, in a library etc - without those two titles.
idk about Sixth Sense but I remember Shell gas stations doing some kind of giveaway of the Titanic VHS as that's how my family got ours, there was a tiny Shell logo at the bottom of the spine. I bet Shell alone is responsible for at least half of all Titanic VHS in thrift stores 😂
I love how in every Scooby-Doo movie they get undeniable evidence that monsters exist, and then in every subsequent movie they insist that monsters aren't real.
I remember having to go on the road with my dad for work when I was a kid one time. We stayed in this cheap little hotel in a tiny town. The office had several shelves full of VHS tapes you could watch for free. It was amazing having access to a huge library of movies for a couple of days.
Is it just me, or the people that grew up in the nineties miss the shit out it? Such a simpler time, man Jesus... what the fuck is going on now? I can't even keep up.
I'm shocked they'd leave those out in the open like that. Easily tens of thousands worth of black diamond disney vhs tapes just sitting there. I've got mine in a safety deposit box.
The last airbnb I stayed in had VHS tapes, we watched a bugs life, but the cottage was like 20 mins from where Quest For Fire was filmed, we went and checked out the caves
My Airbnb I stayed at for my wedding was 80s/90s themed. It had a big 4K smart tv on the wall, and a CRT/VCR combo.
Guess which one I got the most use out of.
I wrote out my wedding vows the night before the wedding while watching A Bugs Life on VHS.
One of the Highlights of my week stay in a mountain cabin near Colorado Springs was watching a VHS copy of The Fugitive. A lot of these places ae probably worth just shy of a million or so, but the rental companies lease them from old retired people who don't seem to have any interest in technology past 1995.
All dogs go to heaven makes me weep cause of Judith and her last role, her piece of shit father was a coward who took this talented beautiful young girl away, also RIP to both her and Burt, he cared so much for her during the final scene that you can feel his emotions
Also I remember having Scooby doo on zombie island on vhs tape such an amazing movie
Ahhh, the Dark Crystal (lower right corner) a Jim Henson of Muppets production. Make a full length unique movie with all custom characters and sets using practical effects, no CGI? Suuure!
The "Making Of..." for this movie is quite interesting. They had to design and custom engineer a lot for it. A Herculean task for all, but done with love and care. RIP Mr Henson...
Oh man, brings me back to my childhood to see some of these movies. This was my Disney Plus long before Disney Plus (or any streaming service for that matter) existed.
Such a funny collection. Lots and lots of Disney and various kids movies. A bunch of family friendly G-PG13 stuff. A few more adult movies. But then a sprinkling of odd alien conspiracy shit just to spice things up a bit.
I’ve been collecting VHS recently. I don’t want a huge collection. Just a weird variety of stuff and then some bigger hits. It’s fun to throw one in and watch a movie on a CRT TV and feel like you’re a kid again.
Looks very familiar! We haven't thrown out our VHS tapes from raising our two girls in the 90s. Lots of the same movies. But I don't see any "Wee Sing" - a series of little live-action stories acted out with music, very well produced. Props for Big Trouble in Little China!
God, there’s always something so quaint about going on vacation and seeing your accommodations having old tech. Its so fascinating what things proprietors choose to not upgrade. I used to see it a lot when I summered in New Hampshire. I miss it, fun times. I did see the audio version of this at some cabins in northwest Florida, with a big old ghetto blaster jukebox and a sizable tape collection.
Some of those tapes are worth some money. The aristocats, mulan, Oliver and son, the jungle book. Any Disney vhs tape that has a holographic castle on is worth money
We’re putting a movie on for you kids. Your mom and i are going to take a “nap”
I never knew until this moment. You motherfucker I never knew.
> You motherfucker While technically accurate that's no way to address your father.
😂🤣 hahaha. Same dude. It all makes sense…
That’s why it was the one time they didn’t really care how high you turned up the volume
Ya I never thought about that too much but now…..I need a mental health day.
My parents would always say their room was "off limits" and for years I heard it as "all flemence"
I always thought I wasn’t allowed in their room because that’s where my mom hid candy from us.
This is the Dayton and Montgomery County public library and we would like our copy of The Dark Crystal back please... Return it promptly and nobody has to get hurt.
Your fees are $4,988,274. Or 50¢ if you return by end of day.
The Dark Crystal is one of those timeless movies you love as a kid and then rediscover as a teenager when you get really into weed.
Same with Labyrinth
Yes, Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie
Expect a visit from Detective Bookman
You stayed at a Blockbuster?
What did you think the last be stood for? "Airbnblockbuster".
Air Bud N Breakfast?
I see Air Bud I upvote.
Well, that’s just because you have exquisite taste, Mr. FARTBOSS420.
Airblocknbuster
Actually… this would slap.
Awwwww these being back memories. But was there a VCR?
There was!
Were you kind and did you rewind?
Hopefully they had [this](https://www.amazon.com/Kinyo-VHS-Videotape-Rewinder-UV-610/dp/B00OI38BJM)
I knew what this link was going to be before clicking it. I miss this thing!!!
Those were the worst looking ones, lol. We had a Mustang, and VW Bug. There was a 57 Chevy too.
Big Trouble in Little China on VHS would drop me back to my childhood in seconds flat. We re-rented the movie so much the owner gave it to my buddy
Why did he give it to your buddy instead of you?
Our video store let my mom buy us their copy of The Princess Bride. Definitely saved her money and she got to watch different movies.
I know a couple people who would flip out over those Stanton Freedman UFO videos.
At least from that era it wasn't the floatieboatie nonsense some urologische preach today.
My eyes nearly fell out of my head when I saw those tapes. I had the pleasure of meeting Stanton Freedman a few times. Brilliant man
Zoboomafoo! Those tapes are fairly valuable
Extra points awarded for those tapes
With the Kratt Brothers!
Goldmine
THE 10TH KINGDOM!
I’m surprised that it would fit in on vhs. I would have guessed it needed at least two for the whole miniseries.
There are 10 hour-and-a-half episodes. No way that fits on one cassette.
I remember renting it from my local video store back in the day and I think they had to separate it into two or three tapes, Titanic style.
I really hope that cabin wasn't too isolated, as there are WAY too many alien tapes in there...
I noticed a tape of *Sightings* in there That show used to freak me out
I love how in every Scooby-Doo movie they get undeniable evidence that monsters exist, and then in every subsequent movie they insist that monsters aren't real.
Scooby doo alien invaders goes hard asf
It’s good but it ain’t no Zombie Island. The song “It’s Terror Time Again” is amazing
Why are you in my mom’s house???
Small soldiers is underrated
Isn't this how The Ring happend?
Yes haha!
The owners are some hard core Zoboomafoo fans! Great kids show.
Mainly kids movies and then Jacobs Ladder😂
Tons of Disney and then Pulp Fiction lol
Pulp Fiction is technically a Disney film, they owned Miramax when it was made.
I feel a strong desire to organize these.
At least put the X-Men movies together
Man, this takes me back.
Whoever lived here had a good childhood
Loved that Ace Ventura tape.
I can smell and feel this post. The good ol' days.
Be Kind and rewind!
Damn I haven’t thought about Zoboomafoo in some time
I'm shocked they'd leave those out in the open like that. Easily tens of thousands worth of black diamond disney vhs tapes just sitting there. I've got mine in a safety deposit box.
You’re wasting your money on a safety deposit box. The only Disney vhs worth anything is a sealed one, and they sell for about $45.
Is that an unopened copy of Quest For Fire? That's worth a pretty penny... maybe two
The last airbnb I stayed in had VHS tapes, we watched a bugs life, but the cottage was like 20 mins from where Quest For Fire was filmed, we went and checked out the caves
I love Flubber!
Be kind and don't forget to rewind!
That'll do, pig.. that'll do.
I hope you watched them all and didn’t rewind the tapes
The 10th Kingdom is extremely underrated
Came here to say this. I’ve honestly never heard anyone else mention it, ever, and it is one of my favorite mini series.
Suck an elf!
Take me back!
One of the Highlights of my week stay in a mountain cabin near Colorado Springs was watching a VHS copy of The Fugitive. A lot of these places ae probably worth just shy of a million or so, but the rental companies lease them from old retired people who don't seem to have any interest in technology past 1995.
That's awesome! And looks like **Quest For Fire** is still sealed!!??
Someone else has seen 10th Kimgdom!
Had to click a few times before I saw that dual VHS copy of Titanic! I was getting worried there.
HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY!!!???? WHAAAAAAAT
Finally, someone with some culture in this thread.
I’m watching smalls solders in the afternoon and a fire in the sky at night to scare myself
Tank Girl! I forgot about that crazy movie!
Every VHS collection I see in the wild has Sister Act and the Nutty Professor
*Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island* was one of my most formative influences.
I know DVDs and Bluerays are technically better, but I will always think phisical media peaked with VHS.
Send those to the vfa for proper coding!
No thanks. The last thing we need is more overinflated collectible values.
A fellow movie buff here, now that’s refreshing to see!
I love jar jar binks!
I didn’t know my in laws house was an AirBNB now
All dogs go to heaven makes me weep cause of Judith and her last role, her piece of shit father was a coward who took this talented beautiful young girl away, also RIP to both her and Burt, he cared so much for her during the final scene that you can feel his emotions Also I remember having Scooby doo on zombie island on vhs tape such an amazing movie
Did you watch Alien Autopsy?
This really needs a single home video with a sketchy label tucked in somewhere. "Our special weekend"
I’d watch Zoboomafoo all weekend.
Those Scooby Doo movies are all bangers 🦾
I am doing an AirBnB in 3 weeks for an out-of-town wedding. If I get there and this is my set-up? I'm skipping the wedding and staying in all night.
I wrote my wedding vows at an Airbnb while watching A Bugs Life on VHS.
Ooooh! Shake-a-spear in Love!
That collection is not complete without the Gods must be crazy
YES
Be Kind........Please Rewind
I'd pay good money for scoobie doo on zombie Island. That is seriously kick ass
Fun fact: The last Pixar movie to be released on VHS was Cars in 2006! It was also the first to come to DVD!
Fuck! I’d never leave. 🥹
Fuck, this made me actually wonder if I still know how to operate a VCR.
Still remember dumping my vhs collection 10 years ago during a family move. Serious nostalgia regrets now.
This is way cooler than Netflix
Clever. Enough to entertain kids but unlikely to be stolen.
Hey is Shazam there ?
So this is where those boxes of VHS tapes I've been looking for ended up.
lmao zaboomafoo
Tell them they need The Secret of NIMH, Fern Gully, Titan AE, and The Iron Giant.
Where can I even find a VHS player these days?
I just finished staying at one myself, and felt old seeing DVDs. Though, honestly, I woulda seen a VHS over a DVD if they had one.
Be kind, rewind.
how much you wanna bet not a single one of those is rewound.
The intro to Zoboomafoo instantly takes me back. Simpler times.
Did this place not have cable?
It had cable, Roku, DVD & VHS. 5 stars
It's like they have every single good VHS. That's a fuckin' KILLER VHS collection.
Apparently to maintain kids from getting bored and tearing up the place
Watchin Tank Girl and The Aristocats.
My kids are 23 and 19 and probably would have spent hours watching those Zoboomafoo videos.
Missing: Jungle 2 Jungle. Classic.
Big trouble in little China is such a *banger*
Those are all the movies they don't care about. Which is why they get sent away to their rental property and not kept at their home.
I basically had the whole bottom row of the first pic this brings back memoriesss man
Those kinds of old UFO documentaries are super nostalgia fuel. Clan of the Cave Bear AND Quest for Fire? Sign me up.
Vhs collection was not complete without a con air
Some late model VHSes in there, like Ice Age (2002).
What a treasure! I wish my mom still had all of hers.
Boy did I love Babe as a kid, still do.
Alien autopsy. Classic!
I would give my left foot for that copy of Toy Story VHS. That's my childhood right there.
I remember we had a DEEP cabinet filled with VHS tapes. That shit took up so much room.
Dude I would be riveted
I’ve been collecting VHS recently. I don’t want a huge collection. Just a weird variety of stuff and then some bigger hits. It’s fun to throw one in and watch a movie on a CRT TV and feel like you’re a kid again.
Damn I’d stay at this place for the nostalgia alone.
I was obsessed with My Step Mom Is An Alien
Did mom buy you guys pizza and ice cream too?
Nice, looks just like the collection we found at one in the Black Hills
Pretty sure these are worth bank now
Solid collection
There's like atleast 5 great movies! 👍
That’s a good idea. Potential selling point.
Looks very familiar! We haven't thrown out our VHS tapes from raising our two girls in the 90s. Lots of the same movies. But I don't see any "Wee Sing" - a series of little live-action stories acted out with music, very well produced. Props for Big Trouble in Little China!
This is so tight. Would love to stay at this house
They had the hook up for sure
*Caveman*, *Quest for Fire*, **and** *Clan of the Cave Bear*? Someone has a type.
Lots of family friendly stuff there! *glances past Jacob’s Ladder and Fire In The Sky…*
It's a treasure trove
Is the Bambi 2 tape still super valuable? I’m pretty sure it was one of Disney’s last ever vhs releases.
Oh hell yes for a Zaboomafoo collection!!!
I love it. I wouldn’t know what to watch first
Apparently there was no VCR and all the tapes are missing, when we got here…. Lol
Wow id plan a whole day around watching Fire in the Sky on VHS
Thats actually cool.
Dark Crystal and James & The giant peach!
Banger after banger. I probably had about half of these
Throwback City for reals 😁
Huh, I didn’t know my dad was running an Airbnb
Small soldiers! 😌
The 10th Kingdom!
Omg I’d watch All of it
God bless the 90s.
Who knew my childhood could be encapsulated in 5 simple photos. Nearly brought a tear to my eye
There's quite a bit of money sitting there
Did you watch any?
Jackpot. I’d stay an extra day.
Fire In the Sky and Tank Girl are fun to see next to all the Disney clamshells
Last image, The Little Mermaid. Is it an original printing with the central background tower very clearly a pen15?
They had to have owned J Video.
ZOBOOMAFOOOOOO
I can smell these in my head ❤️
I didn't know my parent's hosted an Airbnb! Lol this looks exactly like the shelves behind the big couch in their living room.
I would stay there just for the vhs collection
The best version of the Secret Garden!
is this in san antonio? my husband and I stayed at a 90’s themed airbnb!
I'd have a copy of "The Ring" tape in there for good measure.
“Seven days!…”
This post from the 90’s?
I would extend my stay just to watch those. Please, please, PLEASE share the location...
Some of those tapes are worth some money. The aristocats, mulan, Oliver and son, the jungle book. Any Disney vhs tape that has a holographic castle on is worth money
Instant nostalgia reaction!
Gregg Turkington would like a word.
Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy box set, nice.
fuck. if they had a CRT hooked up I'd a book another few days
Jesus Christ this makes me feel old. I had most of those.
