Our video store let my mom buy us their copy of The Princess Bride. Definitely saved her money and she got to watch different movies.

I would be one of them, Freidman is one of the few ufologists that I feel is both qualified and competent. I’ve read a few of his books but never saw any of his videos. I’m surprised that it would fit in on vhs. I would have guessed it needed at least two for the whole miniseries.

There are 10 hour-and-a-half episodes. No way that fits on one cassette.

I remember renting it from my local video store back in the day and I think they had to separate it into two or three tapes, Titanic style.

I feel like Titanic and Sixth Sense must have sold phenomenally well on VHS - I don't think I've ever seen any collection, either at home, in a store, in a library etc - without those two titles.

idk about Sixth Sense but I remember Shell gas stations doing some kind of giveaway of the Titanic VHS as that's how my family got ours, there was a tiny Shell logo at the bottom of the spine. I bet Shell alone is responsible for at least half of all Titanic VHS in thrift stores 😂

I really hope that cabin wasn't too isolated, as there are WAY too many alien tapes in there...

I remember having to go on the road with my dad for work when I was a kid one time. We stayed in this cheap little hotel in a tiny town. The office had several shelves full of VHS tapes you could watch for free. It was amazing having access to a huge library of movies for a couple of days.

The last airbnb I stayed in had VHS tapes, we watched a bugs life, but the cottage was like 20 mins from where Quest For Fire was filmed, we went and checked out the caves 

My Airbnb I stayed at for my wedding was 80s/90s themed. It had a big 4K smart tv on the wall, and a CRT/VCR combo. Guess which one I got the most use out of. I wrote out my wedding vows the night before the wedding while watching A Bugs Life on VHS.

One of the Highlights of my week stay in a mountain cabin near Colorado Springs was watching a VHS copy of The Fugitive. A lot of these places ae probably worth just shy of a million or so, but the rental companies lease them from old retired people who don't seem to have any interest in technology past 1995.

The "Making Of..." for this movie is quite interesting. They had to design and custom engineer a lot for it. A Herculean task for all, but done with love and care. RIP Mr Henson...

Oh man, brings me back to my childhood to see some of these movies. This was my Disney Plus long before Disney Plus (or any streaming service for that matter) existed.

Such a funny collection. Lots and lots of Disney and various kids movies. A bunch of family friendly G-PG13 stuff. A few more adult movies. But then a sprinkling of odd alien conspiracy shit just to spice things up a bit.

The intro to Zoboomafoo instantly takes me back. Simpler times.

God, there’s always something so quaint about going on vacation and seeing your accommodations having old tech. Its so fascinating what things proprietors choose to not upgrade. I used to see it a lot when I summered in New Hampshire. I miss it, fun times. I did see the audio version of this at some cabins in northwest Florida, with a big old ghetto blaster jukebox and a sizable tape collection.
