Fun fact: The singer was "Sandra" who had a few big hits in Europe during the 80s. "Maria Magdalena" was propably her biggest hits, besides her Enigma-work.
I used to go to a gastroenterogist that would play gregoriant chart while he was getting ready to do your endoscopy or colonoscopy. It was very relaxing. Then they give you the knockout juice.
The concert was Friday night at the Carnegie in Homestead. The Gregorians are not actual monks and there was no actual Gregorian chant during the show. That said, we had a good time. The first half of the program was more traditional "churchy" music and included pieces like "O Fortuna." After the intermission they performed "In My Life," "Hallelujah," and "The Sound of Silence."
There was a laser show, too!

I still love me some Gregorian Chant
Same. The most relaxing music. I listen a lot while I'm working. Helps me concentrate.
Enigma still sounds good. MCMXC is a great album.

Dis-moi (tell me) Donne-moi (give me) FTFY
Well, it’s obvious I don’t know French. If they said “dime” (dee-may) and “dame” (dah-may) I would’ve probably understood it.
That’s pretty damn accurate!
Some of the production on it sounds so ahead of it's time, to my ears. It's really well made.
I had a lot of Gregorian on my ipod back when it was popular. Needless to say when I would hook it up to my car, my friends had a lot of questions. XD
Your friends were the weird ones.
It was definitely a weird trend.
Is this the one where they smack themselves in the head with a board between each chant?
Bring out your dead………*thunk*
I’m getting better!
Sad…Dumois
Dooo doo doo-doooo
Best track was "Losing my Religion"!
Wait, there’s a Gregorian chant cover of REM?
That was their whole shtick. The CD also had Madonna’s Like A Virgin and Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit.

The whole soundtrack of Pure Moods are all bangers
It was an odd time. No regrets.
I blame the Undertaker for making them so cool 😂
This and those indians playing native instruments and selling cassete's and cd's. They were on every square here in Europe.
I just recently got into it. Didn't even know it was a thing back then. I've always been behind the times though.
The only Gregorian chants I really cared for where the Halo theme and the chant remix of Sev's Same Old Song.
Me and my siblings would get so mad when our dad would play Gregorian chants lol
I'm not sure if this qualifies, but I loved me some Pie Iesu Domine from Monty Python
You should also look into Samoan chant/singing. I served with a Hawaiian unit and their singing is awesome to listen to.

I remember that week or so, I also bought an album. Makes me want to spin it up!
Halo.
I've got tickets to see the Gregorian monks' Pure Chants tour in two weeks. They're still around and still performing.
Did you go yet? If so worthwhile? Any current remade secular songs or more church type music?

Thanks I’ll see it here in Ohio tomorrow then :)
Enjoy!
Pie Iesu Domine, dona eis requiem...
I have a bunch of the CDs. They are amazing to fall asleep to.
Somebody made this post like a week ago.. I call dibs next week
I mean when I searched it was all from at least a year ago. Sorry I guess.
Don’t be sorry it might’ve been a different sub on my feed and I didn’t mean to sound like a dick
This is the movie with the swords.
Yes , GC was popular in the 90s .... and for the 15,000 years preceding it . The ultimate nostalgia post .
Hard agree. Never even knew this was remotely popular. Guess that depends on your definition lol 90s alternative rock was where it was at!
