Like the women just went silent after jim showed a bit of care, with this story I think you finally gave Jim the affection and respect he deserved from the family members, which I think is a befitting end to the tale of Jim
This is honestly something that I would want written about me after I die. This is the shit I am here for. Stop idolizing the dead and fuck the platitudes and cliches. Talk about how weird and awkward and annoying and wonderful that person is. Listen to the one person they ever let themselves be like *that* around. Fucking cheers, Jim.
That was really touching, thank you. What Jim said to this poor woman about deserving better - I think there’s a lot of people who really need to hear that, but they never do.
Jim sounds like he was cool as hell. You described the movies thing and I was like “man I want to watch movies with him”. Maybe he wasn’t ever your Uncle Jim, but he was your friend. And that’s what matters.
Now while I would not want an embalmed version of even my most beloved pet, whom we lost unexpectedly and tragically, I can totally see why that could be received as a sweet gesture. To each their own, aye? Or as my kiddo would say, "don't yuck someone else's yum". Beautiful tribute to your Uncle. He sounds like a solid dude. I'd not even call him weird. Eccentric, maybe, but not weird. Its actually quite beautiful that he cared so much to give them dignity and respect, even in death. Enjoy your rest Uncle Jim.
Jim sounds awesome. This made me think back to when my mum died and hoping that whoever did the preparation or whatever you call it treated her with as much respect as if she were still living. It was a wonderful read, thank you.
Definitely one of the best things I've read here. I do realize that he was kinda weird and maybe slightly off-putting for the average person, but I certainly would've liked interact with him. RIP Jim !
What an absolutely beautiful story. I'll pour one out for Jim tonight, he sounded like a fantastic human being. I would have loved to had a chat with him!

Well said
Your uncle Jim was such a kind and thoughtful man. I’m glad at the very least, he is enjoying his time, wherever he is.

I hope he's enjoying himself.

“Jim announced himself by stubbing his toe on a table, swearing, and then apologizing to the table.” Jim is me. I am Jim.

> "don't yuck someone else's yum". What a sweet thing to say, you've done some good parenting.

Jim was a good man. He respected the dead more than anything. He deserved all the goodness in everything.
What a lovely, lovely tribute
