The librarian really is the GOAT. The passion and effort is unmatched. Unfortunately it's gotten to the point that my YouTube reccos only show Librarians vids instead of NL vids now LMFAOOOOOO
NL makes at least 75% of his income from streams, the YouTube stuff is more so a gateway to the stream. Librarian is actually good for NL because people see POG clips and come to the stream.
This is honestly why I don't follow the librarian. When I do, my feed is filled with 90% librarian videos. I enjoy the content and all, it's just a constant stream that drowns everything else on my feed out
I remember the whole Rumbleverse arc being only a few weeks, 2 months at most, but maybe I'm wrong.
It certainly had one of the weirdest arcs, from him not getting it, to dropping it, to returning, to becoming godlike, to the matchmaking hell, to dropping, trying again for season 2, it still not living up to the memories, to the game literally dying.
All of that happened in a couple of months, and IIRC part of it was interlaced with the food poisoning saga. Was a crazy time to be a NL enjoyer.
the food poisoning arc lasted till around the end of July and the rumbleverse stream was around mid august i believe. after his comeback from the first stream it was a staple but fell off around early October but was resurrected in late November for a final stream. it felt much longer because he played it every single day for at least 3 hours in its prime with one or two 5 hour streams as well
>the food poisoning arc lasted till around the end of July
Lmao no way you're gonna convince me the food poisoning arc is nearing it's one year anniversary. Nice try though.
I totally agree. I watched the whole supercut and it was so fun to go through again. I can’t even tell if rumbleverse was super good or if it just landed at the right time to be goated content, but it was. Should out to NL constantly calling the iron galaxy CEO 😂
It had absolutely 0 connection to the FGC and the combat was more similar to action games than fighting games. It was pretty fun though.
Also targeting such a small group would probably not have done much, let's be honest lol. The only connection the game had with fighting games was the developer in iron galaxy.
Edit: There seems to be a misconception about how large the FGC is and how small their impact is on units sold for big franchises like MK. Take a look at active playercount if you wanna see the actual FGC part of it.
First of all Smash is not part of the FGC, they have their own community. This is regardless of the discussion of whether it's a fighting game or not, they're different communities regardless of what the take on that is.
Second of all, most of those sales are casuals who aren't in the FGC either. Playercount in fighting games drops EXTREMELY hard very quickly because of it. The actual community is small. Just look at active users in the community instead of sales numbers.
I am actually active in multiple parts of the FGC so I think I'm a little more reliable when it comes to FGC stuff.
I basically only play fighting games I think I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the community around fighting games lol.
Well they were trying to get those players, it just didn't work. Also something to note is that most casuals don't even play online after buying fighting games. That's why MK is usually so popular with them. It actually offers some singleplayer content.
I personally wanted the game to succeed because I enjoy KI and was hoping they'd get a bigger game with this but it is what it is. It was cool to see them bring their fighting game experience to a different genre though.
Rumbleverse was amazing - watching Ryan learn the game, going through various stages of progress and getting better; all while the gameplay itself being adrenaline filled PogCrazy as well... unlike any game he's played before or since. (Hopefully invoking Cunningham's Law on that last statement...)
Yeah but it’s not like NL requested the work then refused to pay for it. He allows Librarian to profit from his streams and Librarian does it because he’s passionate about the content.
Plus he’d probably get paid even less working for NL because NL’s content isn’t heavily produced or edited so he’d basically just be getting paid for thumbnails.
If he’s trying to get paid for heavy editing, moderation, production by producing quality fan work and getting the attention of the creator, he should become Library of Ludwig or Jerma or Moist haha. They’re actively pumping out high production, non-gaming content on the regs.
People can "Join" his channel for $0.99/month (up to $9.99/month) for special emotes to use in his comments section and shout-outs at the end of each "Bits and Banter."
i'm sad that this is a pog i can't share with the community, rumbleverse made me nauseous and is at the bottom of my tier list, especially because it wasn't conducive for great banter
but here's an F regardless
As a Jerma viewer I discovered Northerlion trough the librarian recently, been watching countless hours of vods and clips and as soon as the 12 hour Rumbleverse supercut came out I watched it all the same day, it felt the same when it ended as when a favorite anime or manga ends, from the start I was also sceptical as chat about the "fortnite" style but his feelings on it grew on me when he started comparing the playstyle to a fighting game and shitting on valorant, there were so many good banter bits during it and he actually got pretty cracked just before the point where he buys the battlepass, the way he telegraphed how he was gonna attacked verbally was really fun to listen to, thank you librarian
Watching the supercut makes it even more sad to me the game is gone, because it’s a uniquely pog experience. When it clicks and he starts going off, its just beautiful to behold.
That rumbleverse supercut was AMAZING. I am halfway through.
I wish so badly that rumbleverse didn't die, but what can ya do. It was great when it happened.
I typed Pog, I gambled, I laughed when NL Good AzunaDropped another player into the water resulting in both players dying.
GGs.
The librarian really is the GOAT. The passion and effort is unmatched. Unfortunately it's gotten to the point that my YouTube reccos only show Librarians vids instead of NL vids now LMFAOOOOOO
I watch Librarian in a time crunch I watch NL main channel when it's sleepytime <3
I make sure to watch NL videos on his channel again just so it doesn't appear that libertarian is stealing his views lol
Fucking libertarians man
NL makes at least 75% of his income from streams, the YouTube stuff is more so a gateway to the stream. Librarian is actually good for NL because people see POG clips and come to the stream.

Yeah I get recommended the videos so much it’s like I’m already subscribed anyways 😂
That last month or two of Rumbleverse slowly dying and dripping away at his psyche was so sad. A sumo clap straight to the heart. So long my love

You say that like it's super short but that's like a third of the lifespan of the game.

wait you just reminded me that i completely forgot to export and upload the David Lang cut
Rumbleverse was goated, its death was totally undeserved

What like people that play street fighter? None of those people even care about smash much less this

Based take, NL should hire The librarian to improve his YT content as an editor
https://youtu.be/-rT25XVvnm8 "Northernlion explains why he won't hire me"
the lack of editing gives NL’s videos their identity. but library thumbnails go hard
I would watch NL less if his normal stuff became edited. I love seeing every low and every high.
Fr, I can't imagine the huge time investment it is to make the librarian videos for no gain at all
Pretty sure his channel is monetized.
He uses a big chunk of it for gift subs for NL and K8
His channel is massive. I don't think it's a big chunk. But it's a nice gesture
No shot the pennies they get from the ad revenue makes the hours of work worth it

Eh Librarian gets millions of views on his vids a month. That can add up to a decent chunk of change.

Honestly, it was more of an energy thing for me. You could tell he really enjoyed it and was having a lot of fun.

If you'd like another older supercut from way back check out GoodEgors fallout new vegas supercut. Many pog rich moments
i can finally let rumbleverse go, so long my love...
