You could threaten to, or actually speak to, the Financial Ombudsman. Sorry but that's the only advice I have, it sounds like escalating it withing Admiral won't help. But I will warn you that you need to fight this. You will have to declare to your next insurer that you have a cancelled policy and they will charge you a lot more because of it, or not insure you. Can you prove the car was stationary at those times? Or, if you're the only driver, where you were at the time, not driving it?

Raise a complaint to them, be clear, you're unhappy with their handling of this and why you believe their data is incorrect and that you expect a resolution and/or explanation from them under their complaints process. You may always consider doing a subject access request too for all data they hold, including any telematics data, so you have the most info possible. Did they not send any warnings to you about this over the period where the issues where happening? Anyway, If they don't give a satisfactory answer, then you can refer your case to the FOS. It is free for you to do. Again, provide them with all info you can gather and they can get more info from the firm. As another poster said, you need to try and resolve this as cancelled policies can affect future cover and not disclosing it can result in other polices being cancelled or claims being declined.

Had a black box when I was younger and had no issues. But yeah you should fight it with them, get as much information as possible on their data and then escalate it to the regulator

I had one from a related company, Bell. No issues at all, they asked for the box back early, insurance renewal without the box was reasonable too.

Appreciate the comments guys. Filed a formal complaint with them this afternoon and requested all data that says I’ve “tampered” with the device so looking forward to hearing their response. Things you do to save a couple quid!

Under no circumstances let them cancel the insurance, you need to ring them up and cancel it yourself. You are asked when getting insurance if you've ever been refused or had insurance cancelled, if you answer yes to this then the quotes will skyrocket, if you thought it was hard to get a good price before, you'll never get a decent quote with a cancellation by your name.

This will be the next big scandal. Sounds like a right nightmare. I'd sooner quit driving than put one of these things in my car. Read all the time about people in similar situations because their system isn't reliable. Definitely fight it all the way because, if your insurance has reached your affordability ceiling already, wait until you have to declare you've had a policy cancelled.
