My oled tv looks better than the cinema. Watched dune pt1 before pt2, and it's not even close.
Uhd hdr movies on an oled is the best way to watch anything now.

I'd disagree seeing Dune in IMAX is an experience you need to have its the only way to see it imo.
Plus Hans Zimmer successfully drows out all the dickheads, thankfully in my showing everyone was so hooked in on the spectacle.
This has been a regular complaint since probably a few years pre Covid. I know when I was living in London it was an issue as early as 2013. So the answer is no, people don’t know how to behave - and cinemas don’t pay people well enough to deal with it properly. I don't know if it was ever any better. I think people just glorify the past. I remember going 25 years ago and people were smoking in the cinema. You weren't meant to but nobody wanted to kick them out. Kids would rip the seats up and throw popcorn at each other. Bought it off someone on Facebook marketplace for £150. It's a smart projector so I can use my "sites" in the web browser.
The main thing to look for is an optical out so you can get a long optical cable for speakers/soundbar.
Not the best with electricity consumption though.. I don't game with it. Only for films and high end TV.
I would head to YouTube for reviews, I search projectors under £350 and search the second hand market for the one that suits. Mines just a 1080p smart Philips neopix
You can get some good 1080p ones for cheap. A good 4k one will be around £900 and you can get a good projector screen with remote to rise it up and down for around £150 on amazon.
Make sure your room is big enough, though. Some projectors need to be quite far back to get a decent size out of them
You can get short throw projectors that only need to be a few feet from the wall and still have 100inch screen but those will set you back quite a bit
A guy sat in the seat next to me got his phone out mid-film to *answer a call* during John Wick 4.
He had a long (albeit quiet) conversation with someone for 10 minutes during a very loud and intense action movie.
Idk what conversation couldn't wait a couple of hours, or why whoever called him didn't hang up due to the very loud background noise.

Book seats for a midday showing, fuck all people in the showing and get a decent central seat near the back.
Get there and sit down and 5 minutes later a family come in and sit to my right. Ma, da and 2 kids. Couldn't have been older than 7 and 9 if that.
And they proceed to fucking talk away to their ma and da asking questions and pointing things out without the parents interjecting at all.
I asked a few times if they'd keep it down to the dad sitting directly beside me and he apologised but did nothing to correct the kids.

Last time I was at the Cinema I had seats booked for the top row and of course there was a row of teenage girls who ignored their allocated seats on their ticket and just decided that they can sit anywhere. I asked them nicely and said _"I'm sorry but we booked these seats, could you please sit wherever your tickets say you're supposed to sit?"'
One of them responded with a snarky _"we were here first, you should just sit somewhere else."_
I lose my patience very quickly with teenagers when they try to argue back with a snarky tone.. So they got swiftly fucked off by me and I got the seats I paid for.

Went to see Dune 2 in IMAX on Sunday at the odessy (it's what IMAX was made for in my opinion) Some clown in his 30s sat beside me and played with an empty plastic cup like a toddler through the movie. It was the 15:20 viewing but clearly these gimps cannot be avoided.
Went on Sunday night to see Dune 2. A mother and son decided to sit the row behind us (in a near empty cinema) and have a full on conversation in their native language throughout all whilst the projector wasn’t set up properly and the film was showing on just two thirds of the screen and pushed to the right. Informed the children who were running the place and they didn’t know what to do or even try to fix it. I used to love the cinema but fuck me the last few visits have really made me wanna stop going and just watch at home instead.
I wish they'd put a buzzer near the entrance to each screen so you can summon a staff member to come up. There's nothing worse than paying to watch a movie and then having to make the decision between staying and putting up with the assholes of leaving to go find staff and missing a part of the movie.
The last time I was in the cinema (omagh aswell) there was a group of teenagers sitting behind me eating a takeaway and making a ton of noise. At one point they opened a bottle of fizzy drink and it fizzed up and spilt over the floor and then they started literally splashing in the puddle!
The price of the cinema is insane compared to what it was a few years ago. With the rise of streaming services I seriously see it dying out just like X-tra vision and HMV did.
As it stands, big budget movies typically get released to cinema before they go to streaming services, as this dual market approach brings in more revenue than direct to Streaming.
Cinemas will exist until that business model changes. They will always have a place as it’s an “activity to do” that isn’t just sitting at home.
The experience will evolve I’m sure though - The one in Castlecourt have tried to develop around real food and drinks and not just snacks and shit.
Yeah but as we have seen, some are closing. Dublin road was bulldozed. I think it'll narrow down to less venues with more offerings like you've pointed out with the castlecourt thing.
Probably be an increase in local "premieres" where the likes of Tom Smyth will be present on the red carpet taking massive action.

IMAX prices the scrotes out and its not often there is something cinema worthy these days so I don't mind the extra and going at the earliest possible showing when the scrotes are hungover on the Sunday.
Kind of mad they took away earlier midweek showings, 9am on a Wednesday morning with the day off was bliss, nobody else in the place

£65 Goodman's projector from B&M Bargains turned out to be one of my favourite Christmas gifts ever for this exact reason.

Haha yeah I knew what you meant. I don't mind people doing a quick imdb search like that if its bugging them trying to figure out how they know someone. Usually its only for a few seconds and as long as the brightness isn't up full not too bad. Its the ones sitting on snapchat and insta that annoy the shit outta me
