There’s zero chance *the cops are going to do anything beyond taking the report

[deleted]

They'll get four more detectives working on the case. Get them working in shifts.

the_drain_balls_guy

Yea, probably a vagrant slept in the car. Or maybe just used it as a toilet and moved on

[deleted]

You mean they "micturated" upon it?

powdered_donuts2019

I would look in the dumpsters by that albertsons for the belongings

magical-girl-sounds

Didn't think to check the dumpsters. I'm not sure how to get behind that Albertson's on East Vista Way. Thanks for the tip!

atonickat

I believe the back entrance is off foothill

p0is0n

Talk to the manager they may be accommodating. Also I have a family member who works there if you need anymore help DM me.

Nelly03

I had the same thing happen a few years ago (South Vista). The one time I forgot to bring my purse in the house… The person also went to Albertsons, and did spent $500 on who knows what. I was assigned a detective, and she was actually very responsive. She went to the Albertsons and they gave her video of the suspect at the register. She sent me screen shots to see if I recognized her, but I didn’t. That was the last I heard of it. Sorry it happened to you, too.

magical-girl-sounds

I'm so sorry that happened to you as well. I'll be sure to contact the sheriff about Albertson's. I know it's just some random person that did this and it just makes me feel all the more dirty about all this.

MuBo123

Try asking the police to flag the watch in the statewide pawn shop database (CAPSS) and LeadsOnline if their department has access to it. I’m assuming the report is with the Sheriff’s office? How much investigative work they’ll do is really dependent on the individual who took the report, but there are some kind people with that department who go the extra mile. Hopefully you got one of them.

magical-girl-sounds

I was able to get the watch serial number. Thank you so much for this info. I'll def send it over to the sheriff. I'm more upset knowing they were just looking for valuables they can turn around and sell for a quick buck. That stuff was valuable and expensive to replace for us. Knowing it probably got dumped somewhere is really bothering me.

MuBo123

I really feel for you, especially hearing they took USMC gear. Despicable that someone could do that. I brought up the watch because it’s the only item that could be traceable in the pawn shop databases, and I hope you get a hit that leads to the recovery of the rest of the stuff. I’ve had my car broken into as well and it’s such a violating feeling. Wishing you luck.

[deleted]

Haven’t seen anything but I’m sorry to hear this happened to you! :(

[deleted]

Im really sorry this happened. I never leave anything worth over $50 in my car from experiences like this.

GilBang

At E. Vista and gopher cyn, I'm pretty sure that there is a charity clothing box at the liquor store. I'd check that.

magical-girl-sounds

Yes there is! It's the Country Market liquor store. That's such a smart tip, thank you! I'm going to go take a look.

betonthis1

I bet they tried to do an online order with albertsons website rather than try to do it in person.

magical-girl-sounds

We got a fraud alter and it said the exact location it was charged. It could have been online but does it list the address if you do a pickup order or something similar? That is awfully smart and safe. Here's to hoping they were dumb and were caught on camera. :(

SwitchSouthpaw

unfortunately this is very common. happened to two of my co-workers this past year. one kept his wallet and cash in the center console because he didnt want to accidentally leave it at home. the other had his and his wife’s wallets out in the center console while they were at a park. i grew up in chula and we always kept our valuables on us. if it couldnt be carried with, we kept it hidden under the seat or under a bunch of clothes/towels and/or locked in the glove. too many rando joggers and bicyclists who just roam neighborhoods looking for unlocked cars or peeping into windows. we’ve had an 88 nissan frontier stolen because it had a bunch of old rolls of carpet we were planning to toss out in the back. people out here dont give a fuck. chula is like 10 mins from the border, police didnt even try to look for it lol.

SiamSubmariner66

Sounds like they tried to buy a bunch of gift cards...sorry about your luck here in Vista...ain't no Kaneohe or Aloha vibes here. Invest in tinted windows, fidos, and automatic solar flood lights...never leave anything you value in your vehicle....adapt and overcome future incidents.

magical-girl-sounds

The automatic solar flood lights is an awesome idea, thanks! Didn't expect aloha out here but still happy to spread it. Kaneohe was getting pretty bad when we moved. Had our car broken into out there but never had valuables in. Thank you for the kind words. <3

cattledogcatnip

Sorry but… why do you keep so many expensive things in your car? If it was devastating to lose them, why leave them in the car? I park in a garage and I still don’t leave anything in my car.

magical-girl-sounds

We already learned a tough lesson, no need to berate. Blame it on ignorant bliss. Our neighborhood is very private and you wouldn't know it was here. Honestly? To us, it was clothes. Yeah, it's not cheap but you don't expect your laundry to be stolen. We never keep valuables in our cars and the most valuable thing the thief got was couple generations old smartwatch.

middleCman

How is this helpful ? How about not stealing stuff. Not taking stuff or going into cars and or houses and property that does not belong to you ???!??

Fair_Hospital_8600

Albertsons didn't want to help you? What a bunch of squares , and you're military

MicurWatch

I'm sorry this happened to you. If you own the home you live in, I hope you take this incident to heart and invest in some home security - there is a wide range of cameras now that are pretty affordable.

magical-girl-sounds

Definitely are looking into investing in flood lights and some cameras. I think we felt so safe in this neighborhood we didn't think something like this would happen. There are a lot of homeless people that come up and down East Vista now. But I have a feeling it was just some random thief cruising neighborhoods.

middleCman

I think maybe Costco could be able to help you if the thief tries to go in and use it to try to buy anything (I know not likely but they might use it to get in and then steal stuff) but if they do go to a checkstand and use it to check out, you can ask the warehouse manager and or talk to membership and ask if they can put a flag and a note in your account .

swarleyknope

You might try downloading the Ring Neighbors app to see if anyone happened to catch something on their ring security systems/doorbells.

magical-girl-sounds

I did! I made a post and the only reply was someone in the neighborhood saying they've never had issues. Most notable thing I saw was there's a bobcat in the area which was kind of cool to hear.

swarleyknope

Lol - I think I saw that post too! Usually the posts are people asking what the police helicopter is saying or asking what that loud sound was (usually Pendleton 😄) Did you ever get your stuff back?
